The formation of a very thick scar tissue capsule surrounding an implant occurs in a small per cent of patients undergoing breast augmentation. This results in a very hard breast that can sometimes be painful. This can be interpreted as "rejection" of the implant, but there are many theories as to its cause. The primary recognized cause is an internal bleed immediately following the procedure. Infection is a rare complication of this surgery.
I had breast augmentation 15 years ago and my left breast is still numb on one side. Touching it is like touching someone else, it's creepy because I can't feel it. The nipple feeling came back after awhile but not very much. I do not like for it to be touched at all. My husband has just learned to stay away from that one! I would give anything to go back to the way I was before.
My questions are, what are my chances that this could be a sign of cancer, and praying that its not, would I still be a candidate for breast augmentation surgery? Im worrying myself sick over all of this and very nervous about the results!
I had a breast augmentation in May to fix where I had breastfed my first baby. We hadn't planned on getting pregnant again but I am currently 9 weeks. I still plan on breastfeeding and am curious to what my augmentation will look like afterwards. On 7/3/09 experienced a visual aura following by dull pressure on top of head. Classic one with lightning bolts. Things have gone downhill since. Pressure moves in head from temples, bridge of nose, ears, teeth, jaw. Also with this is constant dry eyes.
I live in NYC & had a fat grafting to my face in Fla that went horribly awry in that I have very little body fat & the harvest site (my bottocks) is now destroyed.
Anyway, I should also mention that I have had 2 breast augmentation through the axillary area (1996 and 2000). SHould I be worried? With a normal mammo could it still be cancer? Please advise and thank you for your time. No history of breast cancer in family.
I had breast augmentation in April, and have experienced the same thing. I have had a constant redness around my breasts and directly beneath them since surgery. I recently began using metrogel, which has helped a little. Please update after visiting with your surgeon. I will advise mine of this recent complaint. It justifies alot of my symptoms.
Your situation is more complicated both because it is not a primary breast augmentation and also your surgeon may have different ideas about post-op care. I suggest you discuss this with him/her.

I had breast augmentation on the 1st December 09, everything ok, healed nicely until 14 days later, I started with a cold and pain in my left breast, my ribs, my back, swelling and my skin turned bright red and it was painful to breath so was advised to go to A&E as the surgeon wasnt available, where they gave me antibiotics.

My sister in law had a breast augmentation (kinda the other way there) and the surgeon was told that breastfeeding would be a priority to the surgery. She had two very healthy nursing babies years later. So just like hers it probably depends on what all was taken out. Im pretty sure they stay clear of the nursing ducts and just focus on the fat pockets. Maybe youd have better luck asking the doc office who did the surgery, just to be sure.

hi,I had a breast augmentation 3 weeks ago.It was done on monday august 18th.On thursday august 21 i woke up to a hard painful mass on my left chest on the upper part of it.It's right where the cleavage is.Its the size of a ping pong ball.It hasn't gotten any better.It hurts so bad that when i go to get up i cry.I went to the emergency room that saturday and they did an ultra sound and said there's a big mass but nothing contaning fluid and then kicked me out the door.
