Breast abscess in infants

Common Questions and Answers about Breast abscess in infants

abscess

Avatar f tn This may be brought about by a break in the skin/areola, producing a superimposed infection and thus abscess formation. If there is an abscess, incision and drainage must be done and the specimen is sent to the pathologist for evaluation. Good luck.
1090423 tn?1286287650 Breast swelling with pain in ribs and headache can be due to fibroadenosis (treated by Danazol and other hormones) or due to abscess in the breast. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examination. An abscess of breast would need incision and drainage. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have a recurring abscess on my right breast for almost 2 years now. I remember that I have a "white head/black head" on my chest so I picked it and removed it and I think it's where it all started. The abscess I got on the first spot on my breast lasted for 9 months (I had maybe 4 recurrence) but it healed on its own without taking any antibiotics or creams.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.

Avatar m tn i am a guy. but i there's a small lump in my right areola(??) sometimes it's painful when touch. do men get breast cancer? ... will the lump eventually disappear or need to be surgically removed. i appreciate any professional opinions.
Avatar f tn I had an abscess in my right breast 10 years ago and it left a little lump after it healed. Two weeks ago I developed an abscess in the same spot. My GP recommended a week of antibiotics (Augmentin) and it started to drain on its own two days back. I feel a thickened area which hasn't gone down. Should I be worried? The abscess continues to drain slowly and I have covered it with sterilized gauze. Please help.
Avatar f tn i had stage 1 breast cancer diagnosed Dec 2008, in both breasts resulting in a double masectomy. I have gone through implants and nipple reconstruction. last week i had one breast very tender, red and feverish. I went to my surgeon yesterday. She sent me for a sonogram and now I'm scheduled for a MRI tomorrow. Anyone ever have a situation like this? I was hoping it was an abscess, but now worried it could be return of cancer. I hear there is one breast cancer with these symptoms.

Avatar n tn Can breast sucking be a risky for HIV. But it is said that it is risky for infants not for adults. Why?
Avatar f tn I've been reading a few of the threads and the stuff you guys know is incredible. I was diagnosed with GM (presumed idiopathic because nothing else is showing up) in July after tenderness in my right breast, nipple retracted. I had a core biopsy which has continued to weep for the last 3 months, I've had 11 courses of antibiotics and now I seem to have a breast abscess the size of a golf ball on the same breast.
Avatar m tn I know it may sound really strange but I am in so much pain from recurrent abscesses. The abscesses are usually on my leg or in my arm pit and under my breast. I had one in my rectum area too. I had been to the doctors so many times and put on dicloxicillin which seemed to help at the time, yet they still kept on recurring. i don't know what to do.......
Avatar f tn My husband has a lump in his left breast tip(nipple area). There's pain when pressed too.. It's been a month now.. The lump is not growing but remains in the same size. what is the real reason? Is it serious?
Avatar m tn I had GMfor 9 months and I have been abscess free for 9 months. My GM breast is smaller. The lumps are gone. The breast does feel lumpy in some areas, but doctors say it's probably scar tissue. Plus, because it's smaller I think you feel more. I noticed on the forum many women saying they healed naturally or they just let it run it's course, so I decided to do the same.
Avatar f tn It also looks a little indented where the abscess used to be. The bruising is now minimal, and I am not in any pain. How are you doing? Unfortunately, I feel another one coming to the surface. Hoping this nightmare ends soon. Take care.
Avatar n tn Conclusion If a patient presents with a non-puerperal breast abscess in a subareolar location, the first diagnosis to consider should be (chronic recurrent) SBA. Smoking appears to be an important precipitating factor. In a recurrent SBA most frequently anaerobic micro-organisms are cultured. The primary treatment of SBA may comprise only incision and drainage. However, this should be followed by excision of the affected ductus lactiferus, including a part of the mamilla.
Avatar m tn i am 36 years of age and i have a very painfull lump in my left breast with a lot of sticky creamy discharge and im very concerned
Avatar f tn There are anecdotal reports in which there is an association of infants being born with a serious eye condition that could result in blindness, and cleft palate. Since these drugs are excreted in breast milk, I would discourage their use while breast feeding. Their somnolent effect would be exaggerated in an infant. By the way, when your wife is pregnant, her dermatitis may improve.
Avatar n tn I found a cyst in my right breast. Well i think thats what it is and its under the skin its a lumpp, when i touch it its reallly really hard . And it hurts without me touching it all the time. my whole right breast is inflammated like its all red and big. what should i do ?
Avatar m tn Beyond HBV infection, many studies have shown considerable differences between breast-fed and formula-fed infants, in spite of the notable progress in the composition of infant formulas. Breast milk provides a number of bioactive proteins that have different physiological activities. Lactoferrin is a major human milk protein with bacteriostatic (Enterobacter sakazaki[36]) and bactericidal activity (Vibrio cholerae[37]).
Avatar n tn Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late preterm infants. Premature infants are at greater risk for hyperbilirubinemia because brain toxicity occurs at lower levels of bilirubin than in term infants. As a result, premature infants are treated at lower levels of bilirubin but with the same treatments discussed here. Encourage feeding — Providing adequate breastmilk or formula is an important part of preventing and treating jaundice.
Avatar n tn In Nov 2008, I had a swelling below my right breast which was diagnosed as "Abscess". It would ooze out puss with blood and was very painful. After healing,a scar developed around that spot and A FOUL SMELL THAT OF PUS actually emanates from that area(i.e when you touch the area surrounding the scar) What could be happening inside?
