Braxton Hicks are real contractions but they're not strong enough to begin pulling the cervix open.
Very rarely, women do get into late labor and they don't know it. They say bewildering things like "well I was in horrible pain that kept coming and going all day but it didn't occur to me I was in labor". I don't get that at all.

I know this may sound stupid, but I'm a little confused about what I should do. This is my third pregnancy, but the first two were induced. I would just go to the hospital to get checked, but I've been there twice this past week for stress test ... plus doctors twice a week for two months =/ ... I have two small children to top it off 5 years &* 18 month's. Stress test have been showing contractions for a few weeks now, but just Braxton hicks.
What is the difference between braxton hicks and real contractions feeling wise? My due date is only a week away and i honestly dont know if i having real contractions or BH. If it is contractions they havent been consistent yet just sporadic all day...... Pllease any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Also if you drink water and lay down and they lessen or go away that is false labor or braxton hicks. If no matter what you do they get worse and you can time them (and they are consistant) then that is real labor. I thought with braxton hicks if you got up and walked they were suppose to get better. One night I was having horrible pains, like contractions, and they wouldn't go away. I called in and they told me to lay down and drink water.

If you are having more then 6 braxton hicks in an hour you should call your doctor. It is perfectly normal to have braxton hicks threw out your second and third trimester. Are the contractions painful? If you think your having real contractions and you can time then closer then 10 minutes apart and arnt yet 37 weeks you should go to the hospital. Braxton hicks are just your body's way of preparing for labor and are absolutely nothing to worry about.
Avoid hot baths, lay down and relax- feet propped up! If the contractions get to close together u should go to ur doctor or ER.
Its just braxton hicks contractions. Totally normal and they will increase as you get closer to your due date.

Yes contractions can start before water breaks. I've experienced Braxton Hicks contractions that have lasted hours every 5 - 10 minutes but never increasing in intensity or becoming labor. With my first it wasn't until I was induced 11 days past due date that I felt a real contraction, and tomorrow is my due date with #2 and only Braxton Hicks so far.....when it's the real thing you won't be able to talk during a contraction and eventually your water will break.
Okay so I was having contractions yesterday but I assumed it was braxton Hicks because they were like 7 or 8 mins apart lasting about 5 mins and im having them again but they feel a little closer together but they aren't lasting long at all so those are also braxton right?
but you can always go back to the hospital before you go home to make sure you are having actual contractions and not just braxton hicks still..
Well this is my first and I was just wondering if it was possible to have real contractions that don't actually turn into labor or if they are still considered Braxton hicks? I know Braxton hicks are not supposed to increase with walking but it seems like everytime I am walking for awhile I start to get pretty painful contractions, they are usually pretty close together but then stop when I sit down and take a break. This has been happening for about a week...
Braxton Hicks... Real Contractions are easily identified and labor for me wasn't intense until i was already a 9 and contractions were less than a min apart. You'll know hun!
t supposed to be having real contractions. They ask most likely to hear if you are having Braxton Hicks.
I meant other then pain haha. They are def painful. I'm not sure if it's just baby moving or Braxton hicks or actual contractions. I feel like an idiot but I didn't know I was in labor with my first or second and I didn't know I was contracting with my third.
