Braxton Hicks are real contractions but they're not strong enough to begin pulling the cervix open.
Very rarely, women do get into late labor and they don't know it. They say bewildering things like "well I was in horrible pain that kept coming and going all day but it didn't occur to me I was in labor". I don't get that at all.
I know this may sound stupid, but I'm a little confused about what I should do. This is my third pregnancy, but the first two were induced. I would just go to the hospital to get checked, but I've been there twice this past week for stress test ... plus doctors twice a week for two months =/ ... I have two small children to top it off 5 years &* 18 month's. Stress test have been showing contractions for a few weeks now, but just Braxton hicks.
What is the difference between braxton hicks and real contractions feeling wise? My due date is only a week away and i honestly dont know if i having real contractions or BH. If it is contractions they havent been consistent yet just sporadic all day...... Pllease any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

I thought I was having braxton contractions consistant and turn out to b real contractiins had her at 36 wks , noticed thy were not braxton by doctor at 32wks
Could be contractions braxton hicks are not suppose to hurt. But pain at the top of bump could be something with the placenta so if it were me I'd let my Dr asap.
I Believe that Braxton Hicks contractions have been described as they come from the "bottom" and labor sign contractions come from "Top or everywhere at once" from what I've been told by other patients in my career. If your having more than 4 of these an hour and they are progressively and noticably getting worse, that could be a sign of Labor.
My last pregnancy was 10yrs ago, and I don't remember having any contractions. I keep hearing that I'll know when I have one, Braxton Hicks or real labor, because my stomach will tighten. Can someone please be a little more descriptive?

Braxton hicks aren't regular. They don't come in regular intervals. Also if u change ur position or walk, they should go away. Real contractions won't disappear from changing positions. Braxton hicks also don't grow in intensity.
Braxton Hicks are annoying. Ive been having real contractions all day. I was at the hospital all day they sent me home and I'm being scheduled to be induced tomorrow morning do to high blood pressure. How many weeks are you? And I hope your not like me and actually feel them. I didn't even know I was having contractions. Good luck.
the only difference ive noticed is real labor contractions get stronger and closer as time goes.... so far for me whe i have braxton hicks they are about 10-20 minutes apart but when i had labor contractions they were much closee together....
I had them maybe twice and went into labor on my own. So I think you'll be okay.
Real labor contractions get longer. Like 60 seconds. Drink lots of water, try walking/changing positions, and taking a bath.
Also if you drink water and lay down and they lessen or go away that is false labor or braxton hicks. If no matter what you do they get worse and you can time them (and they are consistant) then that is real labor. I thought with braxton hicks if you got up and walked they were suppose to get better. One night I was having horrible pains, like contractions, and they wouldn't go away. I called in and they told me to lay down and drink water.
I've been to the hospital many times, I just knew I was in labor, Braxton Hicks!! :) And actually there are hormone shots that delay or completely stop contractions. Monitoring can tell the difference in your common Braxton Hicks and real labor contractions. If the doctors feels as it's a good method for your situation then a shot that can be given about every 20 minutes (limit is 3) could possibly be a possibility in your situation.
