382218 tn?1341181487 This is a head's up to a couple of programs that may be of interest to you. First, Charlie Rose has been running a series on the brain, and over the weekend on PBS they've been running the episode that covers MS. It's airing again tomorrow, at least in my area where we get PBS from Spokane. Second, Jack Osbourne is scheduled to be on GMA tomorrow morning, I assume to speak about his recent diagnosis.
1478258 tn?1287390186 Laparoscopic surgery, or minimally invasive surgery (MIS), keyhole surgery, is a modern surgical technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed through small incisions as compared to larger incisions needed in traditional surgical procedures. Keyhole surgery uses images displayed on TV monitors for magnification of the surgical elements. Laparoscopic surgery includes operations within the abdominal or pelvic cavities.
382218 tn?1341181487 This is short notice and perhaps someone has already posted about this (I am WAY behind on reading posts this week) but if you are able, try to catch "The Doctors" today on CBS. The theme of the show is How to Prevent a Misdiagnosis and there is a segment on MS.
Avatar m tn I can watch those its the o ones I hate to watch when withdrawin.... I dealt with dts from some binges on alcohol I wnet on and I can't tolerate any alcohol at all in my body anymore it gets me sick as soon as I drink and then I have to wake up with the shakes looking for more soI can just stay abstinent from that. Its like alcohol wont allow me to drink that long before my body starts to reject it very fast. Strange huh??
Avatar f tn She said everything is fine and i should check my optical nerves or my brain. So the next week i went to have a detailed mri. Optical nerves and optical cortex in my brain was all fine. No problems at all. Now it had been threw weeks and my visual snow changed. There is a fast snowing little transparent dot in my central vison which i can see at dim light. And flashing big dots in my peripheral vision.
Avatar n tn 5 years ago, I had to receive two brain operations, the first being a brain abscess which resulted from a previous mastoid surgery. the second brain surgery was my lower brain had sunken down into my ear area and from that received bacterial meningitis. I was told that I have scarring on the brain, and was wondering would could potentially arise health wise in years to come as I was never fully informed on anything due to young age at the time and routine scans stopped over 2 years ago.
Avatar m tn The neurologist told me that it’s probably chemical imbalances of the brain due to the last operation. He prescribed Akamon 1.5 for 3 weeks. At the first week I was fine, on the second week I was feeling again, anxiety and went to see him. That time he prescribed Anafranil 25mg and see a CBT. But I saw that anafranil is an anti-depressant pill so I didn’t take it. I continue to taking Akamon 1.5 until I finished the 3 weeks period he prescribed.
487443 tn?1208839512 I also found some surgeons treated autism patients by neurosurgery operations. I wonder whether neurosurgery operations are really effective for curing infantile autism and this kind of therapy is mature. Any risks exist in neurosurgery operations? Any successful cases around the world? After the redundant nerves are cut off, is it possible for them to revive after operations? Hope for your replies! Thanks a lot!
246139 tn?1424371973 Hi, my co-worker, one of the very few people I have told about this Chiari thing to, came up to me today and said last night she saw a commercial on TV about Chiari - twice. Has anyone else seen anything like this? I can't watch TV much anymore because it causes really bad headaches so I really have no idea what is on out there. But I had never heard of Chiari until just a few weeks ago from searching up terms on my MRI report!
Avatar f tn I have a seventeen year old son that has had several operations for shunt replacements in 2009. He was diagnosed with Hydrochapulus and a Cysts in the "Small Brain" area. The cysts is very large which covers nearly the entire bottom part of the brain at the back. We have just had a CT scan done and they mentioned hypodensity in the Medulla area. My son's behaviour has become very erratic, he is very depressed, and he is suicidal as he does not want to live.
2086351 tn?1333288676 my daughter is 2 years old, and she's experiencing a seizure, her eyes blink rapidly...she's already taking her medication, but her pediatrician told me she is not allowed to watch television for at least a year or so but her pediatrician neurology, didn't mention anything about television ban, and i forgot to ask her about it, and now I can't get an appointment to meet her just to ask her about that...
Avatar m tn Yes but I don't believe lobotomies are done anywhere anymore. There are brain operations done in cases of extreme ocd that I could describe if needed but they are targeted to stop specific areas of the brain in cases of a person who is harming themselves compulsively and are done with a person's consent. The difference between them and lobotomies is day and night and its not applicable to anyone posting here anyway.
Avatar m tn That you feel only 90 percent well is pretty normal with brain operations in general, from what I understand. There is a book out by a physician who had brain surgery, and after the operation, she was surprised that she had lost some of her abilities, but after a while, she adjusted to her "new" self. As for how long you live and that article you read, every person is different.
Avatar n tn It is therefore better to get investigated further like MRI brain and CSF analysis on consultation with a neural physician. You can also get more info on Arachnoid cyst through this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnoid cyst. Post your opinion. Do update on any investigation or doctor review. Take care.
Avatar f tn I know that I have seen it mentioned here before, but they have finally brought it up on national TV. Good Morning America had "the Brain Bucket" 7Tesla MRI on this morning It's worth the watch and read!! http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?

Avatar n tn Please help. my 19 yr old daughter back in Oct...had strange irregular "purple" rash, swelling, headache, pain in face, couldn't move that side. Went to college clinic, sent to ER, ER felt it was cellulitis and prescribed 2 antibiotics. Condition resolved in about 2 weeks. Last Friday, she started having similar symptoms again. Rash this time was not purple, more regular redness. but otherwise symptoms the same.
Avatar m tn Eye pain when reading, watching TV, or working on a computer frequently results from decreased blinking. Take frequent breaks, and try instilling an artificial tear like Refresf, Optice, Systane, or Blink Tears. If the problem does not resolve, see an ophthalmologist.
Avatar f tn Anyone here have tried transvaginal ultrasound? Its my schedule on the 11th for tvs,and im kind of worried. Hihihi, cause its a bit awkward I guess. So,how does it feel??

2177836 tn?1355173877 My nephew, Ashton will literally wake up in the middle of the night and SCREAM bawling his eyes out if the dvd stopped and the tv went blank. But if the tv stays on and he has something to watch, he'll be cool and collect. Plus babies just like noise and lights a lot, it keeps them entertained.
