Boniva alternatives

Common Questions and Answers about Boniva alternatives

boniva

My Endo keeps suggesting that I start on Boniva (once a day). So far I have learned it will cost between $100-$200/mo. Also the instructions about taking are strict regarding timing, eating, not reclining for an hour, etc. Already I am not able to take my Prevacid the way it should be taken because it will interfer with the Synthroid. Boniva would complicate my pill schedule even more. I am just not sold on the fact that I need to take it.

I've heard five years is enough, but I read where so many others are also on it much longer. I am 62 years old but am on Boniva, Vit. D, and calcium, so I feel I really don't need the Prempro for bone density. Thanks again.
Hi and I can so relate to your doubts on the mentioned medicines, I have given up on taking any of them and least of all any bisphosphonates the side effects are simply terrible specially Boniva, there is a site about these meds and all the posters are those women who have taken them, you can look it up under "Boniva side effects" or http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=21455&name=BONIVA, this is a forum where patients detail the side effects they had.
Hi, Wow, same here with the sleeplesssness and wet scalp. Lots of tossing and turning all night and weird dreams if I do fall asleep a short spell. I'm 62 and was on Prempro about that long, too. My doctor told me to try a taper, but instead I did cold turkey. Maybe that was a mistake, but the last mammogram, I had several benign cysts and so wanted off it right away.
The second doctor didn't want to hear about alternatives either. I was lucky enough to find a chiropractor who helped me with the carpal tunnel. By abtaining skelatal health it aleviated most of the symptoms. My massage therapist helped tremendously with massage and excercise especially for the affected areas. Then in 2004 I started having pain in my arm between my shoulder and the elbow.
