1633073 tn?1300110274 Hi, My husband and I are starting the Dukan Diet on Monday (9th May). I have read the book and the recipe book and went on the Dukan web-site to discover my 'true weight' is actually about twenty-one pounds heavier than I had thought my goal weight should be. How are you doing with it? has it got easier over time? how much do you tend to lose weekly on the cruise stage?
1026267 tn?1257591273 I don't know if almond or rice milk have the iodine in them or not, but there is one other thing that might be of help here. I found out that people with type "O" blood should not use coconut or palm anything, even the healthy extra virgin kind. I also found out that dairy isn't really good for type "O" people either.
Avatar f tn I have been looking into this blood type diet myself being a blood type O but recently I have become concerned if I suffer manic episodes or am bipolar. Certain periods in my life become notably amazing. Usually when Im relatively lean I find myself with too much energy than I know what to do with! My social life improves dramatically! I quit 2 different jobs during these periods of "high". I almost become contagious during these periods wishing I could feel like this forever!
Avatar f tn I would encourage him to eat fruits, vegetables and lean meats so that he may maintain a healthy diet, that will also be easier on his blood sugar response.
Avatar f tn I would like to know what the Thompson Recipe is and how to use it!!! Can someone let me know!!!
152660 tn?1291755571 ve tried every type and brand I can find. They all REALLY hate the grain free. Will a raw diet be ok for him? I think anything other than the dry crap has to be better. Do you know if there is anything in the dry stuff specific for that? He's lost so much weight that my thoughts are even if it isn't "as good" or missing things from other stuff, if he eats it, I can handle that. He can't be much worse off than he is now. 2. What recipes do you use?
Avatar n tn My doctor just told me that I am slightly hypertensive and borderline type II diabetic. She put me on the diet plan for daibetics and I like it. I've been losing weight and getting energy highs then I get the "munchies" for popcorn and BBQ chips. I can't drink fruit juices or anything else except diet soda, water, and diet teas or sugar free Kool Aid. But if I drink the sugar free stuff I get so "gassy" and diarrhea. This part ***** big time.
Avatar f tn This would involve evaluation of c-peptide, antibodies, and insulin levels correlated with blood sugar levels. Type 1 is lack of insulin (and needs injected insulin), Type 2 is plenty of insulin, but there is insulin resistance and the insulin is not effective. For Type 2, oral meds may be appropriate. If it is adult onset type 1, it may develop quickly. Therefore, I suggest your read up on syptoms of both type 1 and type 2 and if you develop symptoms then you must go to your Dr.
Avatar m tn I went to a diabetes class a couple of year ago you really need to exercise, change your diet (get a good book on diabetes food), watch your blood sugar number (test with your machine 2 time or so a day), and manage your lab tests (like AH1C) once in a while. Your life do not have a limit!
Avatar n tn A little while ago i had a nondiabetic doctor recommend a low carbohydrate diet to help keep my blood sugars low and when i mentioned it to my endocrinologist she said that that type of diet puts extra strain on the kidneys and since diabetics are already prone to kidney problems they should avoit it. i would recommend that at your next doctor appointment you ask to be referred to a dietician to go over the proper diet aspects for a diabetic.
649848 tn?1534633700 Calling For Healthy Holiday Recipes! The Holiday season is just about upon us and if you are like most people, one of the best things about the season is all the yummy goodies our family, friends or co-workers contribute to parties or gatherings! Then we suffer the "aftermath" when we step on the scale after New Years. The good thing is that we don't have to gain weight during the holiday season...we can focus, instead, on maintaining.
1346724 tn?1282322904 We tried the GFCF diet. It didn't change anything for us. We saw no improvements in anything the few months we were on it. It doesn't hurt to try it, nonetheless. It isn't easy - you're going to have to check labels for a lot of ingredients that are less obvious milk and gluten carriers. But it is doable. Our pedi had us put my son on a good multivitamin (you'll have to check and make sure the multi is GFCF, too!) so that he wasn't lacking in nutrients.
Avatar f tn t comment on this particular book, but, while I believe a healthy diet is good for anyone, people both with and without MS, I don't believe that eating properly can eliminate the symptoms of MS. It may be a good book, I don't know, just don't expect miracles regarding MS symptoms. Who knows....maybe there's a recipe that makes tofu taste good...
Avatar f tn It was tested evening time.whats the risk and what diet he need to follow? is it type 1 or type 2.what fruits can he able to eat?can he eat brown rice or wild rice?
Avatar n tn Given your weight, diet and history you may be adult onset type 1 (research LADA) rather than type 2. Treatment for this is insulin rather than oral meds, usually. Your fasting no. are reasonable now, but your after eating is still too high. Yes, exercise and low carb eating are very helpful in controlling blood sugars and minimising med requirements. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Although it is still controversial in some communities, go to 2ketodudes ******* and listen to their podcasts. They also notate the science behind this way of eating. They both were very sick. One was almost to the point of losing a toe. Both of them have normal A1C scores after just several months and have lost weight, and no longer on meds. I have lost 90+ lbs on the past year and a half and am no longer pre-diabetic. A1C dropped from 5.7 to 4.9.
Avatar f tn Congratulations! I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was 4, have been on an insulin pump since I was 16, & gave birth to a perfectly healthy girl at the age of 25. It can be done, but it takes a lot of hard work on your part along with a great medical team. I worked with my normal OBGYN who referred me to see a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist & Dietitian.
Avatar f tn I did not have to go hypo as I took Thyrogen. There is a good recipe for salad dressing on the LID diet which is at thyca.org.
Avatar f tn driving your blood sugar up. Learn to manage your blood sugar and the rest is actually easy. Find a book on glycemic index. The lower numbers are what you are aiming for. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I have recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my fasting blood sugar was 175. I am sure that these are on the higher side of the scale. My doctor adviced me to go retest after 2 weeks of exercise and strict diet control. Hence i completely changed my diet, no sugar, substantial decrease of carbs, relying on vegetables and sprouts or protein contents with additon to the 5-6 KM of walking. After two weeks when i went on re test, it was 140 on fasting. I have not used any medicine.
Avatar f tn Anyone out their treated for type 4 - I have 48 weeks ahead of me so curious...Started reading a book The Liver Cleansing Diet - lots of good eating tips for liver cleansing just an fyi..
Avatar f tn My daughter is 38 and has had type 1 for 30 years. Over the last two years she has put on considerable weight which is making her depressed, she has also recently broken her leg and is finding it really hard to manage on the crutches because of her weight. Is there any regime she can follow to try and reduce her weight. When fit she does swim once a week and also attends Bokwa classes.
