Avatar f tn A huge thing to avoid for all of here, since nearly everyone has digestive issues, is the elimination of all pork from the diet. I discovered this to be so after eliminating all the cured pork products and using only fresh cuts that have no seasonings in them. I still felt really sick afterwards. I once took some leftover meat from a gathering where there was a lot of leftover beef and pork. But, the host wasn't sure which was which. I was sure after I mistakenly got some of the pork.
Avatar f tn For a year or so i have had a terrible diet of mostly junk food and a relatively sedentary lifestyle. As a result of this i am now 4 stone overweight and always feeling tired and sluggish. Since last week i have joined my local gym and cut out junk food and sugar as much as i possibly can. I have reduced my calorie intake to about 1300 a day but i am feeling very ill and weak. What is the reason for this?
Avatar n tn ve been having troubles lately before I knew my blood sugar was high, after I would eat I would feel very bad, not knowing I had high blood sugar I was leading a normal diet, even some fast food here and there, I'm sure my blood sugar has been very very high until I started dieting now. Are those numbers normal or should I be worried?
Avatar f tn To my knowledge, feverfew isn't an antiinflammatory, and as it affects circulation, I wouldn't take it on a regular basis (this is why it's used as a migraine headache reliever). A high carb diet can be highly inflammatory depending on what carbs you're eating, and a high protein diet can be antiinflammatory depending on the protein source. Pork is probably neutral if you eat it occasionally, but it's very high in bad fat so I wouldn't eat it or beef too often.

776980 tn?1252244590 s for several months now and I am wondering if it could be my diet? Like most of us I assume we are all searching for answers and I keep thinking it could be as simple as a chemical imbalance caused by my diet. I have been pretty much of a vegetarian for many years, not in the strictness since, but we don't cook meet and since I retired 2 years ago I eat almost no meat at all. I do eat all my Veggies!
3060903 tn?1398565123 I'm reversing my diabetes type II with diet and exercise. I'm doing well but I need to know one thing about good fat versus bad fat. I take it that ie. walnuts olives etc. have good fat and ie. cream vegetable oil have bad fat. What exactly does the good versus bad fat affect on your blood work? ie. will good fat raise lower or raise tryglycerides? Thank you so much.
526889 tn?1212540641 For your age you need 1500 calories daily to safely lose weight. I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar m tn Mine dropped from 126 to 100 and then I gave up pork and it dropped to 79. I am now eating pork again, but have not had red meat for 13 years.
Avatar f tn I just started my diet and some say its better to not eat meat (except chicken and fish) for the first two to three weeks. I love meat (A lot!) ut if its bad for my health, I guess ill only eat chicken and fish. Any comments ? Any suggestions for me? What worked/works for you when you lost weight?
Avatar m tn A Heart Healthy diet would be the best type of diet to help decrease any complications of the disease and to stay healthy overall. A Heart Healthy diet means a moderate fat diet to lower the fat content of your foods and increase ‘good’ fats to benefit your body. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn The past year I have almost stop eating beef and pork. Beef I have maybe once or twice a month and pork maybe once a week.
Avatar n tn High levels of meat consumption and seafood can cause more flare-ups of gout. Foods such as beef, pork, lamb, sardines, bacon, liver, salmon, and turkey should be eaten in smaller quantities. (That;s why many have gout flares around Thanksgiving! Lots of turkey and ham!) People who have gout attacks should definitely avoid alcohol, especially beer. A recent study discussed the effects vitamin C may have on reducing gout attacks. Here's a little link: http://health.usnews.
Avatar f tn the simplest way to help these issues and follow diets for them is the combine the diets. A moderate fat diet needs to be the base diet which helps your diabetes, heart, GERD, hypertension, liver, and some kidney issues. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
Avatar f tn I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.I. some time in the begining of next month but with most of the doctors we see they do not care to look further into this and just listen to his symptoms and give him whatever and send him on his way.
Avatar f tn The only meat he eats is ground beef(cant stand chicken, pork, fish, even steak) and he hates tofu and most vegan type food. The problem is most diets are all chicken and fish, and the big thing is to stay away from beef pasta and cheese which are his favorites. Does anyone know how he could diet and loose weight without cutting out the only food he likes to eat? Or know of any diets that you dont have to eat chicken and fish all the time??
1597912 tn?1303590441 If you have not checked into the Blood Type Diet by Dr D'Adamo, do. Pork & beef don't get along with blood type A. I know a number of health-consciois people whose lives were transformed by this info.
1301482 tn?1325722991 Who has done a low carb diet that worked well? Can you give me any tips for low carb snacks/meals?
Avatar m tn A doctor can perform lots of assessments without blood work. But if blood work is necessary, use numbing cream beforehand and a small dose of a doctor prescribed sedative. This worked for me as a child and made the tests possible. My mom would always reward me for having blood work done like taking me out for ice cream or buying a small gift. Incentives help.
Avatar f tn The only changes have been that last night I let him have a bbq pork bone. Can this be his problem? I also have given him rawhides but this is the first dry poop he has had.
Avatar f tn Stay away from sugars and starches, eat plenty of veggies especially the greens, get plenty of lean protein in your diet like chicken breasts, most fish, lean pork tender loin, and very lean red meat. Exercise daily if possible. Even if only 10-15 minutes a day, don't think that because you can't spend a ton of time exercising that it's a waste of time. Any exercise at all is better than none.
915369 tn?1355314810 Hey everyone! I was diagnosed with Crohn's about a year ago, and have since then been on a few medications and have settled on Imuran. Now, I have no complaints about my doctor, he's actually fairly good at what he does and he goes out of his way to help me and all his other patients but I find he doesn't have the time to really go in depth with my questions.
Avatar m tn This is absolutely a myth. There is no cure for Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetics produce insufficient insulin and need insulin to live. People want easy answers and for Type 1 diabetes there aren't any - not yet anyway. There are many types of natural treatments that are said to help Type 2 diabetes. Perhaps they do. But nothing helps as much as reducing carbs, losing weight and getting regular exercise.
645800 tn?1466860955 d just be blaming the fried shrimp because on top of the fried shrimp, some of your other dish choices are very high in sugar, carbs or fats eg sweet and sour pork has something like 63 grams of sugar, pork fried rice is around 35% fat, 51% carbs, pork egg roll and the pork in a sauce I can't spell is probably not so good either, as most Chinese sauces are high in sugars, fats and salt, so may be the entire meal choice combined was the cause and not just the fried shrimp.
Avatar f tn Well, last year I started working out alot and I put myself on a strict diet low in fat. Most of the time I ate chicken and rice because I felt like pork and fish had too much fat. Everything was fine for about 8 months of this type of eating habit and I felt really healthy. Then, suddenly I developed asthma that I hadn't had since being a child and it never went away, that was 2 months ago. I stopped working out because I couldn't breathe well enough and my doc put me on some inhalers.
