Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has a special diet or menu that they follow for hepatitis c. ie what cooking oils to use, if you can eat meat, if you can eat fruit, etc. would anyone help me with this a husband has it.
Avatar f tn I am sure I am going to get a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes this week. My blood glucose this AM when I woke up was 200. It's been running about 125-130 all week. I also get some pretty low numbers during the day and start to feel weak and jittery. I'd just like to see what the diet looks like before I go in to see my doctor. Thanks.

Avatar f tn The most common types of diabetes are Type 1 and Type 2. Which type are you? Basically, Type 1 diabetes are hereditary, genetically transmitted from parents to offspring. Normal treatment would be a daily doze of insulin. Type 2 on the other hand, is more on lifestyle (sedentary - without regular exercise), eating habit or being overweight, etc. Normal treatment would be regular exercise, well balance diet with some minor medication as prescribe by a doctor.
Avatar n tn Given your weight, diet and history you may be adult onset type 1 (research LADA) rather than type 2. Treatment for this is insulin rather than oral meds, usually. Your fasting no. are reasonable now, but your after eating is still too high. Yes, exercise and low carb eating are very helpful in controlling blood sugars and minimising med requirements. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Google "scarsdale diet" and you can check out the menu
Avatar f tn Whole grains can help people with type 1 diabetes control blood sugar and lose weight, making blood sugar management more effective.
Avatar n tn A little while ago i had a nondiabetic doctor recommend a low carbohydrate diet to help keep my blood sugars low and when i mentioned it to my endocrinologist she said that that type of diet puts extra strain on the kidneys and since diabetics are already prone to kidney problems they should avoit it. i would recommend that at your next doctor appointment you ask to be referred to a dietician to go over the proper diet aspects for a diabetic.
Avatar n tn I am the type of person who can not stick with only one type of dieting system, in addition to that, i am a very picky eater and I don't eat vegetable unless its cooked, therefore salad has never been a part of my menu.
Avatar n tn Gluten free or paleo diet I have found effective. No wheat or white bread, rice, potato. Hardy nuts and seeds will lower blood sugar numbers. Working on alternative receipies.
Avatar f tn It was tested evening time.whats the risk and what diet he need to follow? is it type 1 or type 2.what fruits can he able to eat?can he eat brown rice or wild rice?
Avatar n tn A balanced diet is perfrctly fine. Not necessarily just a doft food diet. Example of my typical menu while breastfeeding is: a fruit, oatmeal, toast for breakfast. A glass of apple juice, turkey cheese samdwich on whole grain bread, and maybe some chips for lunch. A snack around 3 which is like pb and crackers. For dinner, a veggie with some type of meat. Ive sucessfully breastfed 2 babies so far sticking to well balanced diet. Lots of water is key too. Whole grains are best.
Avatar n tn There is a diet called the DASH diet which was created to help people with diabetes, high blood pressure, and hypertension. You can do a little research on line about DASH; some sites even have a menu plan. First, you should definitely discuss this w/ your doctor, to see if this would be a good diet for you to follow during your pregnancy. Also, keep exercising daily ~ exercise really makes a huge difference w/ high blood pressure, it lowers it...
Avatar n tn Does anyone else have type 2 diabetes with pregnancy? I'm not eating a ton of carbs but my numbers are still on the high side.

Avatar n tn Fiber can help keep your blood sugar stable. It slows your digestion, which allows for a more steady release of carbs into your bloodstream. Here's some advice from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app on this topic. http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Natures-Blood-Sugar-Secret/1822 You can find this in the app by going to the Health Guide from the menu in the upper left corner of the home screen, and toggling to the Eat Right section, then scrolling down.

Avatar f tn The only meat he eats is ground beef(cant stand chicken, pork, fish, even steak) and he hates tofu and most vegan type food. The problem is most diets are all chicken and fish, and the big thing is to stay away from beef pasta and cheese which are his favorites. Does anyone know how he could diet and loose weight without cutting out the only food he likes to eat? Or know of any diets that you dont have to eat chicken and fish all the time??
Avatar n tn Find this in the app by going to the Pregnancy Diary from the home screen and selecting Fatigue from the Symptoms menu. Then click the menu bar in the upper left and select Symptoms Manual to see your symptoms.
Avatar m tn They need to control their blood sugar with changes to diet and exercise and often medication. Do you take any medications for your blood glucose? If you do not understand what changes you need to make, you should speak to your doctor about what is recommended for you specifically. Your doctor may have a sample diet menu or be able to recommend a nutritionist to help you understand the proper diet.
