Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar testing kits for home

Avatar f tn Good question! Made me go surfing the net as I have never paid attention to OTC A1c kits. First stop was the NGSP [National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program]. These are the folks who write the standards for A1c testing; hospitals & independent labs & mfg'ers of home kits and lab equipment. I noticed the Bayer Metrika A1cNOW met their stringent standards. For a list of labs and kits and what HbA they can test go here. On the left click on HbA1c Test Methods... http://www.ngsp.
640347 tn?1228533326 I am supposed to take my insulin shots 3 to 4 times a day depending on my blood sugar. Please, monitor your blood sugar and take care of yourself so your prediabetes does not get any worse. When yor blood sugar was 150 had you had anything to eat because anything you eat can effect your sugar.

1330182 tn?1279815900 Hello! Has anyone used the at home test kits for checking thyroid blood levels? I was thinking of purchasing one :) I am not going to be able to get to the doctor for a few weeks so I am hoping that the test kit will give me some peace of mind for now lol! Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have a question regarding the Home Access Testing Kits. I recently had 3 HIV+ people tell me that the Home Access Kits are no good and they give FALSE NEGATIVES about 30-40% of the time. I personally used the kit twice. Once at 17 weeks and once at 20 weeks. Both times I did receive a NEG. However I slightly question the tests now because these individuals were knocking the test kits.
Avatar m tn One quick question i had protected oral sex and safe anal sext tested 3,4,5,6 weeks at the clinc Neg and 7 and 8 tested using a rapid test kit purchased offline all neg are these kits reliable they are sponsered by WHO do i need to get more test at the clinic or was i even at risk any input on these home test kits would be of great help they look like the ones used in the drs office
Avatar n tn At dinner I ate lasagna, salad, sweet tea. Anyway 30-45 minutes after dinner, my blood sugar was 118. Is this normal or does it seem kind of high? At the doctor last year fasting it was 91. Also, I have been suffereing from severe fatigue after my long runs and have to basically sit down for the rest of the day which I hate. I am going to start to check my blood sugar after these runs to see what it is. I eat alot after the long runs but it does not seem to help.
Avatar f tn You also can get an HA1C test kit at Walgreens and also I believe Walmarts now that will test your blood sugar average for a period of a couple months. For a non-diabetic this number would be in the high 4.0's. For pre-diabetic it would be in the high 5.0's and anything over 6.0 is considered diabetes. At Walgreens I believe these kits are around $25.
1312801 tn?1273788647 is it possible the results could have been wrong? Anyway i found a testing center near my home. those kits really are expensive. thanks for the advice!
Avatar m tn Not certain about India but elsewhere in the world A1c home test kits are available for consumer purchase at local pharmacies/drug store.
Avatar m tn I found these home testing kits that only need a few drops of blood via finger prick, and don’t need to be sent to a pathology lab. https://www.buystdtestkits.com/pages/hiv-home-testing-kit-faq https://australiastdhometest.com/std-tests-bundles I was wondering if these tests are reliable, and if I should test for anything other than HIV, chlamydia and gonorrhea? Should I post in HIV prevention, as well?
Avatar m tn d guess, but one thing I did a few months ago was test my fasting glucose maybe an hour before going to have blood drawn for professional lab testing for complete profile. I was getting mid 80s at home, but my glucose came back 106 from the lab.
Avatar n tn There are no approved home testing kits. There is an approved collection kit in the US it's the Home Access Kit but there are no approved home testing kits.
1348086 tn?1370783185 No, unfortunately there aren't home kits for the average blood work. I'm sure it stinks to be afraid of having your bloodwork done, but it's necessary to maintain your health. You could ask your doctor to limit the frequency of bloodwork by combining as many tests together as possible, so instead of having to go 3-4 times a year, you could maybe do it once or twice a year.
304573 tn?1345577338 How are you arriving at this conclusion? Are you home testing your blood glucose, or is this random or fasting lab testing results? How long have you been tracking this?
Avatar n tn The above questions are exactly why there are no approved home testing kits.
Avatar f tn Best of luck PS the previous writer is right have her checked out in the ER with that low blood sugar...............
Avatar n tn Overall I would just see a Dr for a test. I know these test kits are approved for home but thought you had to send them in for the result.
Avatar m tn UK doesn't have any approved Home testing kits for HIV.
