I think my fear of potential diabetic complications is strong enough that it overrides any discomfort or inconvenience caused by testing my blood sugar. I actually test around 10 times a day and I don't mind it at all. The finger pricking really doesn't hurt barely at all since I'm so used to it, so that's a non issue, and it takes so quick to do that it isn't that much trouble. Definitely worth it to avoid complications. Basically, I use fear as a motivator.

About 10-15 minutes later they drew blood from my vein and checked blood sugar, blood count, etc... and all these were normal. Does it mean anything or should I be concerned that the finger ***** was 110 but blood from my actual vein came out normal?

HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Use lancets for pricking fingers for blood test. And you can certainly use your right hand fingers for blood testing. Its not a big inconvenience and won't affect your work!!

For anyone that finds this in their searches, it turns out that I actually have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). Autonomic testing showed a drop in blood pressure after eating which cause these symptoms!

Could have been something you did during the testing as well. Maybe there was some residual sugar on your skin at the test site that may have effected the reading. If it has never happened before and does not continue to happen I would not worry about it.

There are many good meds out there that can possible help you. Get up in the morning, don't even think about it, use the pediatric tip on your tester so it doesn't hurt as much and do it.
