Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar test without pricking

Avatar n tn I think my fear of potential diabetic complications is strong enough that it overrides any discomfort or inconvenience caused by testing my blood sugar. I actually test around 10 times a day and I don't mind it at all. The finger pricking really doesn't hurt barely at all since I'm so used to it, so that's a non issue, and it takes so quick to do that it isn't that much trouble. Definitely worth it to avoid complications. Basically, I use fear as a motivator.
Avatar f tn Yep, I have to do the blood sugar test 4 times a day and write it down which I don't understand why is it that my blood sugar is so high if when I do it the results are normal, I'm eating less, I lost weight, so I don't understand why, so I'm gonna talk to my dr on monday tp see what he says about it
Avatar f tn Jut got to know that i failed the 3 hrs test. 2 out of the 4 blood tests had a higher value than the cutoff. Fasting - 74 (normal range is 65 to 95) 1 hr - failed by 7 points 2 hrs - failed by 11 points 3 hrs - well below the cutoff I am worried if i would need prick myself everyday to test my sugar levels? :( That doesnt sound fun at all!! Diabetes never ran in my family and i dont like having sweet things at all! So far i had no complaints about my pregnancy.
Avatar f tn My glucose level was high for my 1 hour test so they sent me for the 3 hour. They only got my fasting blood sugar that time because they gave me the drink and 20 mins later I threw up. It made me so sick. My fasting was 76 and they told me that between 65-99 was normal. My dr also told me that if my blood sugar was high for only 1 of the hours they usually don't diagnose you, just reccomend diet changes.
6674791 tn?1396215150 ( pricking your finger and testing your blood sugar ) as long as you control your diet and keep your sugar levels good then all will be good. If diet and exercise doesn't work they will send you to a diabetes doctor. I had gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy. I controlled it very well. This is my second pregnancy and my sugars were too high for fasting so they put me on metformin and I'm doing great.
209227 tn?1242346745 Use lancets for pricking fingers for blood test. And you can certainly use your right hand fingers for blood testing. Its not a big inconvenience and won't affect your work!!

Avatar f tn Has anyone become diabetic while being pregnant? I did my glucose testing yesterday and I received a call from my dr saying it's a little high and I have to go back Monday to do the glucose test again. 4658567 tn?1364142123 Anyone have gestational diabetes? Do you take insulin? Were you induced or will you be? I've been poking my finger least 6 times a day. I have pretty much changed my diet, and count carbs but my blood sugar is still usually high.. Thinking I'm gunna be doing insulin :'( really don't like needles and don't know how I'm gunna be able to give it to myself!!!
Avatar m tn I was volunteering to a small town, and I was assigned to get the blood sugar of people (15 approximately) through pricking their fingers using glucometer without used of gloves. I haven't noticed if i touched any blood from them as I a was careful enough. However, when I tried doing it to my friend, when I pricked her finger, the fresh blood dripped to my thumb and I immediately wiped it and put alcohol on it.
Avatar m tn He gave me a skin biopsy, blood test and scripts for another cream and Prednisone. It went away in a few days, but I am Diabetic and the Prednisone kept making my sugar high. I lost weight because I had to be very careful. . My biopsy and blood test showed I had an allergic reaction to something. I am going back to Dermatologist for a skin patch test in 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn The blood sugar numbers you provide show your levels to be running slightly elevated most of the time. Normal blood sugar is 65-110. The goal of your treatment is to keep your blood sugar within those limits at all times. I would suggest that you speak with your endocrinologist about how best to adjust your diet and insulin to maintain your blood sugar within normal limits.
Avatar n tn If you are showing signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction towards sugar, then you can confirm it by allergy testing.Skin test or patch test is used for this purpose. This test involves pricking, scratching or injecting food extracts into the patient’s skin. The skin will react with redness and swelling for those extracts capable of eliciting an allergic reaction when consumed.Other tests used are blood tests like RAST and food challenge tests.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.

Avatar n tn I am proud to say her blood sugar has been within range every time I have checked over past 5 days. Except... Her blood sugar has tested low all four times I tested either while she was in bath or just out. She has tested between 57 and 68. Is anyone aware of "wrinkled fingers" from exposure to water causing low blood sugar readings? Her bath is just luke warm not REAL hot.
296738 tn?1235996403 All the girls that I know that have it are told to keep their blood sugar UNDER 120. We test 2 hours after each meal and once in the morning. We are all told to limit our CARB intake. My nutritionist said don't even bother looking at the sugar content, what matters is how many TOTAL CARBS you are taking in. Carbs turn into sugar basically. So my advice...limit the carbs that you are taking. It is better to be safe than sorry.
1021834 tn?1379292300 I have an appt today with my ob/gyn at 15 wk 4 days and also will be doing the glucose test. Blech. They want me to do it early because I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes my last pregnancy. I hope everything is going ok because I still haven't gained anything and my clothes still all fit. I really don't want to flunk the glucose test, especially this early into the pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The pricking isn't all that bad. It just gets tedious! I've been doing it since about 30 weeks and you get used to it pretty easy. Just remember you want to limit your carbs! Don't just look at the sugar content because carbs will raise your levels too. They had me diet controlled for awhile with 30g of carbs allowed at breakfast 60g for lunch and 60g for dinner and a snack after each blood check that was no more than 30g.
Avatar m tn I was getting thirsty much lately, so I decided to let my mom measure my blood sugar level with her meter. She tested her sugar levels about 15 minutes before me. When she prepared the device I told her I can see a small blood trace (a drop at best) on the surface of the device near where you put your finger to squeeze out some blood on the track for testing.
Avatar n tn By tingling and pricking do you mean like pins and needles? That's what I have throughout my body except my face along with itching through my body.
Avatar f tn I am controlling it with diet so the only needle I see is the one that I ***** my fingers with to test my sugar...I have to test 4 times a day...fasting and than 2hrs after breakfast lunch and dinner...its not as bad as people think I mean yes it ***** esp if you have a sweet tooth but if you are able to control it with diet alone that's awesome and I know some women fail miserable at their 1 hr and pass with flying colors at the 3 hr...
Avatar f tn thx so much makes total sense
1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
