You could work it out, I guess. Test your blood sugar. Then inject one unit of insulin and test 2 hours later to see how far your blood sugar has fallen. One unit is not likely to cause any dramatic problem. Please make sure you monitor your blood sugar closely when you are taking insulin as an overdose can be dangerous and and an underdose won't get your sugars down enough.

At dinner I ate lasagna, salad, sweet tea. Anyway 30-45 minutes after dinner, my blood sugar was 118. Is this normal or does it seem kind of high? At the doctor last year fasting it was 91.
Also, I have been suffereing from severe fatigue after my long runs and have to basically sit down for the rest of the day which I hate. I am going to start to check my blood sugar after these runs to see what it is. I eat alot after the long runs but it does not seem to help.
Adjustment was then done in combination with close monitoring of blood sugars. Ie. I test blood sugar before eating, lets say it is 100. I then eat 45 g of carbs and inject 3 units of insulin before the meal. Test 2 hours after starting to eat and my blood sugar is 140 (my target is < 120 after eating). Oh... They draw your blood, then draw your blood again in an hour then again in another hour if you're doing the two hour. If it's a three hour test then one mere draw after another hour. You get your blood drawn, then sit and wait... No drinking anything but water, no chewing gum, no eating a mint and my fave they remind you of is no smoking haha duh I'm pregnant I'm not gonna smoke! Then you're done.
