blood sugar test pregnancy

My sugar test came back and unfortunately my levels were elevated so now I have to go in the morning for the 3 hour sugar test. Has anyone had to do the 3 hour one?? Is it the same thing besides the wait time?

It may help. But you might have a mild case of gestational diabetes. I failed my first one too didn't take the three hour test because the 1 hr was too much sugar for me and I got extremely sick. So they are treating me as if I have GD. The duet us hard at first but you get use to it fast. I regret not eating healthier earlier on in my pregnancy, but that doesn't mean it would have changed anything. My body just isn't producing enough insulin.

Is 130 high for blood sugar?

Mine never got that bad either nor hit that fast my sugar test where all fine but i get sugar drops every now n then cause when not pregnant i have low blood sugar i am36 weeks tomorrow. Im just hoping its cause i skipped lunch cause i wasnt feeling well. the worst part of it dropping at walmart wasnt that bad i had my 3yrear only daughter with me she was scared she seen something was wrong took me 30 mins to get it back up.

It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.

A blood pregnancy test does nothing but test for hormone levels. So no, there's no point in having one done if you already know you're pregnant.

i have GD & they want me to test my blood sugar 2 hours after eating, & it should be under 120. some say 130. when fasting, or waking up in the morning it should be between 60-90.

s youngest child just turned 1 and she said they do the sugar test through a finger prick..I was just wondering if any of you have had the test done already and if they actually drew blood from your arm or did a finger prick????

At what month will I be given the sugar test?? I'm 19 weeks and my Dr hasn't gave it to me yet, he ordered me to do a 24 hr urine sample and more blood work but I've heard from other ladies that I should of had it already I'm just curious!

Yes u have to take it but u still have a while dats y they havent said anything about it

Has anyone dealt with low blood sugar during pregnancy? I took my 1 hr glucose test- I had black coffee prior to the drinking the glucose drink, then 1 hr of nothing and my blood draw. My level came back at 65. My midwiNenmade a passing comment about it bein low and watching for symptoms of lightheadedness but wasn't concerned. What were your numbers if you were deemed low blood sugar? Any other symptoms? Thanks!

I had an episode like yours around 20wks and a blood test revealed my iron levels were really low compared to the begining of the pregnancy. It didn't come back up to normal levels even with just one 324mg pill per day, and I am on 2 per day now on top of my regular pre natals. All those dizzy spells I had went away after started taking iron pills. May be talk to your doctor about it.

I've been hypoglycemic (have low blood sugar) since I was very little. You need to have peanut butter crackers or some almonds on hand at all times if you're getting low blood sugar. Gum will only help for a little while. Candies and stuff are high in sugar but they don't last as long. The protein in nuts and peanut butter raises your sugar and keeps it up for a good while.

But this morning I got really lightheaded and a headache all of a sudden(which I know is normal in pregnancy) but I checked my blood pressure again to see if that was it, and it was perfect. So I checked my blood sugar and it was 79, I had just had a fruit smoothie. The medical assistant at work told me it was low, and then another told me it was slightly low. My question is does anyone know what it should be? I go to the Dr tomorrow so I will ask him, but I'm just curious.

Had about 10 viles of blood taken which I gather is normal the first time. They also had be do an hour blood glucose test done which I thought was done later in pregnancy. So today I had to go for a 3 hr test sinces yesterday my number was 141 and they wanted me to be under 135. Anyone that can shed some light on this would be wonderful.

At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.

HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.

You don't have to get the test, or any tests, at all. You can ask for a glucometer test (what diabetics use - it pricks your finger and tests your blood sugar). After much research I'm finding the GD test to not always be accurate and every doc/midwife has their different threshold level for what is normal and what is abnormal and most of the time what they consider abnormal is normal for pregnant women as it is normal for pregnant women to be slightly diabetic while pregnant.
