It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.

I have not been told if i have diabetes but my Dr. told me to watch my blood sugar because im having symptoms of hypo. I notice my blood sugar at night between 2-3 am are over 120 and my fasting blood sugar in the morning is over 100. When i get the fealing of low it is around 80 and it will keep dropping. the last time it went to 67 and i had to eat some thing i couldnt wait. i had a cup of oj and checked in 15 min and it went to 137.

I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.

HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.

a1c is the average, but it is also important to see the fasting numbers. Sometimes early in diabetes only the fasting numbers may be high, and paying attention to these may give a heads up on taking action. Ideally fasting is < 100 (and even better if it's in the 80s). Normal non-diabetic a1c is < 5.0, though you may not get diagnosed as diabetic until you are 5.7 or higher.

Has anyone dealt with low blood sugar during pregnancy? I took my 1 hr glucose test- I had black coffee prior to the drinking the glucose drink, then 1 hr of nothing and my blood draw. My level came back at 65. My midwiNenmade a passing comment about it bein low and watching for symptoms of lightheadedness but wasn't concerned. What were your numbers if you were deemed low blood sugar? Any other symptoms? Thanks!

A blood sugar of 400 is extremely high even immediately after a meal!!!! I would find another doctor immediately!!! I do not understand why you haven't been put on meds already...an Endo as suggested above is a great idea and start reading everything you can about Diabetes...doctors can only teach so much, it is up to you to educate yourself and learn to be an advocate for your own health...please start today!! s husband did a comparison test and his number was normal at 86 would seem to indicate that the machine is NOT giving false numbers. Her blood sugar probably really IS that high, and this is extremely dangerous -- could be life-threatening. It really is imperative that she have a true lab test done to see if there really is a blood sugar problem. She could do a glucose test in the lab to compare the number with the number that the lab gets if she thinks that her machine is in error.

Again, I wouldn't go crazy at this point.

Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.

I just found out that I'm pregnant, and my blood sugar is literally all over the place. One hour it will be 140, and the next hour it will be 240. Meanwhile I need a little clarification on what you are saying. You are saying that you test the blood sugar one minute and then a minute later you test again and it drops down. How much does it drop down by? Meters are not exact within a range of as much as twenty points, so if it is less than that it might just be the meter.
