half year post liver transplant, my question now is about his bood sugar, we are trying to monitor it , we have the kit and test sugar before and after meal, but there was time that in just a minute sugar rises and and sometimes went very low. is this normal for or the kit have a problem?

It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. l last had a full blood test three years ago and was normal , A few month ago my doctor gave me a finger prick test and he said it was normal , does that prove l dont have diabetes or do l need to take a full blood test where they take blood with a needle in your arm, l hate that. I fasted 8 hours and then went to the clinic to get blood tested for diabetes...first the pricked my finger and then my blood sugar showed 97...then urine test was good didn't find sugar in my urine...then drown blood to take to the lab...

For diabetes, you should test HBA1C. You can buy a home kit to test the HBA1C at home. Truely normal results should be about 4.3 - 4.6. Although some say normal is still up to 5.5 or even 6, I would recommend seeing a Ddr. if your results were higher than 5.5. Are you overweight? Are you physically active? Does anyone in your family have a blood sugar meter you can use to test your sugars. if they do, please test your fasting blood sugar (should be in the 70 - 90 range) and your 2 hour post eating levels (should be ideally 80 - 100 range, but certainly less than 140). The correct testa for a doctor to do will be fasting blood sugar and Hba1c. IF either of these tests are abnormal, they should be doing a glucose tolerance test and maybe antibodies.

You sound like you suffer significant anxiety. Who keeps an hiv test kit with them and keeps looking at it? If you actually did have an exposure which I only question because you are afraid of blood in an hiv testing kit and didn't write to us about an unprotected sex exposure (or did you?). my sister does the same thing when she dont eat right or misses a meal, her sugar drops out and shes shakey.weak feels like she can pass out. you need to get a kit to check your sugar when you feel that way and you will know if its that. find some one who has dietbittes(sp), they most time have two-three test machines see if you can use one a few weeks try it when you get that way and you will know.

HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.

Hey ladies I was reading another post about the sugar test and was remember when I had mine..... I tested negative for GD which was great. But when I take the test I get sick!
