Avatar n tn In general, if your blood sugar level is below 100 mg / dL after fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours, then your blood sugar is normal. Blood sugar levels are usually lowest before each meal.
Avatar n tn Hi recently my BP shooted to 140/90 during that course i was tested for CBC, Renal, Lipid and Sugar. All the counts of CBC, Renal and Lipid are absolutely normal. But my fasting blood sugar was 8.1 which is quite high. Before this test i used BP tablest for 4 days until the test is done. Later from the next day i was tested for Random blood sugar several times for 2 days always the readings are normal the highest shown is 5.2. My doctor not even commented on this.
231441 tn?1333892766 Regardless of the results of your glucose test, you should continue to keep an eye on your blood sugars during your pregnancy because you are at higher risk of developing gestational diabetes given your history. You will stil need to gain adequate weight to nourish your baby, but you should aim for about 25-30 pounds during the pregnancy and not too much over that, so that you can limit your chances of having abnormal glucoses during the pregnancy. Hope this helps. Good luck and take care!
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.

Avatar n tn By eating at night you may be able to help your morning blood sugar be a bit lower. When you have extended fasting your liver can put out glucose. By eating a small snack you may be able to prevent your liver doing this. hope this helps. Please come back and let us know how you're going. Often diabetes in preganncy will get worse as the pregnancy progresses (insulin resistance increases as the pregnancy progresses and the placenta grows).
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
325405 tn?1262290178 Haven't yet been in to see an endocrinologist or a dietary person to talk blood sugar levels and diet. Am having problems dealing with my insurance company who won't even cover my stupid testing strips. They basically are $1 a strip. Expensive. I had gestational diabetes several years ago (gestational diabetes was covered 100% for supplies and visits), so I am aware of how to do all the blood testing and have been doign fine about that.
Avatar f tn This is a simple blood test requiring no fasting and can be taken any time of the day. You can Google A1c to understand how and why this test is undertaken.
Avatar n tn I have had a blood sugar test and gave a reading of 6.1 about 1 hour after a breakfast (Weetabix, Milk, Orange Juice). I have to go back and have repeat test but after having nothing to eat approx 9 hours beforehand....will this give an increased or decreased reading.
Avatar f tn For the 3 hour test when I got it I had to fast before coming in and they tested my blood 4 times during the test. I failed my 3 hour test and have gestational diabetes.
Avatar f tn Usually, fasting begins at midnight for a test the next day. Your sugar by the standards of your lab states it was high on your first test. The repeat is normal. I am not sure if that was a fluke. I'd probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn Yupp, I just had mine done, yesterday
Avatar f tn Yes u have to take it but u still have a while dats y they havent said anything about it
Avatar n tn I think being it was fasting. (They have me test early b/c my Mom had Gest. Diabetes)......The blood test is generally more accurate than a regular glucometer.....I'm an RN and sometimes we play around and check our own on the hospital units and get different readings every time...one right after another,......
1058898 tn?1275675151 I notice my blood sugar at night between 2-3 am are over 120 and my fasting blood sugar in the morning is over 100. When i get the fealing of low it is around 80 and it will keep dropping. the last time it went to 67 and i had to eat some thing i couldnt wait. i had a cup of oj and checked in 15 min and it went to 137. I have also notice that i spike about 1 hour after eating and come down around 2 hours after which is mostly in the 130. and i notice if i drink a can of pop.
Avatar f tn I am 28 weeks as well and due to family history they texted me during week 16 ore so. Blood sugar was 91 so really good. My second test was earlier this week and ie came back to 147 (had a lot of sugar night before). Tomorrow I am going for a 3 hour test.
Avatar f tn It depends on when the blood sugar was taken. If you were fasting then it's extremely high I'd you had just eaten and depending on what you ate it could be okay.
Avatar n tn Hello Everyone, and Shwetamayank, the blood sugar numbers in pregnancy are must more stringent than in non-pregnancy. They look for fasting blood sugar of less than 95, and in the glucose tolerance test they want to see numbers below 130 (latest guidelines just released). They also want to see that your fasting is < 95 all the time (ideally in the 80s, my doctor targeted 85), and post eating < 120, and never above 140. This is to give best outcome for mother and baby.
Avatar n tn i have 121 sugar fasting how i controlled and avoid this problem please i am depression from last long time and always in tension
915119 tn?1341948989 Ok, so I went in today for the GTT and they said that my doctor also ordered a fasting blood sugar test. Do you know why he would do this? I'm kind of concerned because I have never had that done, or at least not that I know of. This isn't my first pregnancy, but like I said, it's the first time they do that to me. So I had to get poked right when I went in and then again an hour after that nasty drink. Anyone have any idea??
