Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar symptoms causes

blood-sugar

Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Hello you may have hypoglycemia-low blood sugar. Try eating some peanut butter crackers and juice or regular cola next time the symptoms start to see if it helps. If you can eat 6 small meals a day it will probably stop your symptoms all together.
Avatar n tn It is possible low blood sugar could cause these symptoms, but sounds more like high blood sugar to me. Do you test? If you are not diagnosed with diabetes you should see a doctor to find out the reason for your symptoms.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms of headaches, shakes and lightheadedness sound like hypoglycemia, which is LOW blood sugar. Other symptoms would be if you get hot and break out in a sweat, find yourself feeling confused or perhaps depressed or irritable, or find yourself yawning for no reason. This can happen to people when they have not eaten in a long time or if they eat something that has a lot of quickly digested carbohydrates that cause the pancreas to be stimulated too much.
Avatar n tn I have got this strange symptoms. My blood sugar level is lower after I consume food and higher when my stomach is empty. Is there any problem with me? Normally it should be lower when stomach is empty right? What causes such symptoms?
Avatar n tn Recently I have been suffering from anxiety attacks and light headedness. Done a fasting blood sugar test and it seems I have high blood sugar levels. Than this be the result of my anxiety attacks This discussion is related to Mysteriously high fasting blood glucose.
85962 tn?1329981090 Do you monitor your blood sugar. You need to monitor blood sugar and get your HA1c tested - this will tell average blood sugars over the past few months. If you do have diabetes will be much easier to manage if you have normal weight and with the good eating habits you have now. Learn as much as you can. Diabetes is definitely manageable and knowledge is power. Best wishes and ask any more questions you have.
Avatar m tn This past July, my husband started feeling lightheaded. He describes it as a "medicine head" feeling. At first he wasn't concerned; he thought he was getting a cold. But his symptoms got worse, until he was lightheaded all the time. There would be bad episodes where he felt he would pass out. He describes it as being dizzy, but it's not room-spinning dizzy; it's more of a drugged feeling, where everything is "vibrating.
Avatar f tn However, I have been having some problems with my blood sugar levels. I frequently seem to be having episodes of low blood sugar, only to find that my blood sugar is only on the lower end of normal. My symptoms include feeling faint and dizzy, clammy skin, and pallor. I also feel jittery and nervous.
Avatar n tn I'm 36w 6d, and since yesterday I've been having period like crams (not consistent), headaches, diarrhea, and bleeding nose. My sugar levels and blood pressure are fine, so I don't know what's going on. I also drink a lot of water, so I don't think I'm dehydrated. My next appointment is this Thursday. Have you guys had this happen to you before?
Avatar n tn A diabetic should eat several times a day instead of the three to maintain a good glucose level and to keep their sugars from spiking or dropping. Going for long periods without eating causes one's blood sugar to drop. If this is your case, I agree with the above post, eat a light and healthy snack.
Avatar n tn With normal thyroid function (TSH of 1.2) the thyroid is not likely to influence the blood sugar. The presence of a goiter alone will not change blood sugar - it's only significant hypo or hyperthyroidism that causes sugar fluctuations.
Avatar n tn (That statement scared me into checking my blood sugars eight times a day, making sure my blood sugar is at least 100 before going to bed, and going back onto my insulin pump). But, now that some time has passed, I am loaded with questions about what a "low blood sugar seizure" is. How long does one's blood sugar have to be low before seizures ensue? Is there a medical name for this condition, so I can do more research?
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar n tn This is where they do a fasting blood sugar and have you drink a sugary drink and they retest at a half and then at 2 hours, then every hour after that for about 5 hours. They can determine if you a diabetic or hypoglycemic. Usually, the blood sugar being high or low will make you dizzy or tired. It could be a side effect of the drug too. Perhaps they need to taylor the drug to his ability to tolerate it. Since he had the problem after taking the drug I would think that is the cause.
Avatar f tn There is a sugar load test usually performed in situations like yours. Lab in doc office (endo clinic) takes fasting blood sugar blood draw, then you drink a sugar loaded drink provided, wait two hours, then they take blood again to compare if your cells absorb sugar or if it floats around in the blood in high levels. If you dont put sweets in your house, then you cant really eat them. Time to cut back while your still young.
Avatar f tn Hi am in 31 weeks for my second baby. Random blood sugar level is 161. Is it okay? Or it causes any problem? Also Hb is 9. Please suggest. Am worried so much.
Avatar m tn I have a cousin whose blood sugar levels often rise over 300s. This has been over a couple of years now. I am really concerned about him but unfortunately he doesn't seem to really care about himself and believes that the oral medications he's taking is enough. He shows no symptoms of diabetes at all. My questions are: 1. How come very high glucose levels cause no symptoms at all? (no frequent urination, thirst, blurred vision, etc) 2.
Avatar n tn Have you heard of insulin resistance? This may be partially to blame for hypoglycemia if it is "rebound", meaning her blood sugars may not sharply exceed the high levels, but if she eats a heavy meal -especially one high in simple carbohydrates- several hours later it "crashes" giving her hypoglycemia. It was explained to me that the insulin triggers becomes overreactive and dump a large amount of insulin in response to the free sugars in her system.
Avatar n tn I am asking here because I am very worried. He has seen a doctor some but hasn't pushed for testing as much as necessary bc of their financial situation. After having pneumonia a month ago, and taking antibiotics and symbicort, his blood sugar started droping extremely low especially at night. The Dr said to stop the symbicort and it should be ok. He is still having problems. He and my mom are having so much anxiety and no sleep.
757137 tn?1347196453 I think my post was appropriate. People on this forum want to stop drinking and it helps to understand what might be the cause. The studies mentioned in the article determined that the vast majority of alcoholics were hypoglycemic. When a normal person eats, his blood sugar rises. With the hypoglycemic the opposite takes place - the blood sugar falls. The sugar "addict" or the alcohol "addict" then eats or drinks some more in an attempt to raise the blood sugar.
Avatar n tn I would highly recommend seeing your primary care physician so that they can run some tests and send you to specialists if needed. I know that i have gotten those symptoms and when your blood sugar is low i feel that way or if you are dehydrated. Again, I cannot stress enough to just take a simple visit to the doc and get a professionals input.
Avatar n tn The reason you feel better after eating carbs is that they are bringing up your blood sugar. That is how you treat a low blood sugar especially if you are a diabetic. Since you have had a severe low, I would suggest that you ask your doctor if you should have a prescription for glucagons. This is a shot that gets your blood sugar up. Most EMTs and ambulance crops do not carry this drug. I hope this helps, Lease check back with us again.
