1080243 tn?1262975363 High blood sugar, if this is what your husband has, ARE a sign of diabetes. They are usually not a sign of anything else (unless someone is sick or on steroids, in which case levels can be temporarily high). Initially they can be the only obvious sign, which is why it is so important that people have diabetes screening at their annual checkups. Your husband should be looking into this with his doctor further and taking appropriate steps to manage it.
Avatar f tn That would be what would tell you how concerned you should be with your blood sugar number. What the doctor is watching whether you need some form of insulin to keep your sugar to a acceptable level.

Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
Avatar f tn 2weeks later, I checked his sugar for about a week again. He has some normal readings but he also have some few high readings and that's before meals like 149, 163, 2 on the 200s, etc. family dr. keeps saying that this is normal for his age (60) that he's working too hard or too much. Is that true that it's normal or could this be pre-diabetes?
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
1680047 tn?1468911829 140-180 two hours after eating would be too high. Your stated values of fasting blood sugar readings are high, according to my doctor.
Avatar n tn s husband did a comparison test and his number was normal at 86 would seem to indicate that the machine is NOT giving false numbers. Her blood sugar probably really IS that high, and this is extremely dangerous -- could be life-threatening. It really is imperative that she have a true lab test done to see if there really is a blood sugar problem. She could do a glucose test in the lab to compare the number with the number that the lab gets if she thinks that her machine is in error.
246464 tn?1249452147 Also suggest you carry glucose tablets or hard candies [not sugar free] with you in case a crash occurs. Eat one to elevate your blood sugar rapidly. Dropping below 60 is dangerous, down to 34 is life threatening.
Avatar m tn Check if it can raise your blood sugar levels. Some high blood pressure medicine can raise the sugar levels. Know your body. It is the inly one you will have.
Avatar m tn First of all, you need to know if your blood pressure can only be controlled by changing your lifestyle or is it very high and needs medical treatment. Very high readings of blood pressure can be very hazardous if not medically, since diet control will minimally lower it. If your readings are not very high, you can start by avoiding: 1- saturated fat. 2- Red meat. 3- Fast food. 4- Fried food. 5- Smoking. 6- Stress.
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
Avatar f tn My blood sugar is 78, feeling cold and jittery and wondering if that is too high of a number to be causing it. Since last Thursday I have been unable to eat much, and what I do eat has been immediately removed (diarrhea). I was diabetic in my last pregnancy and still needing to lose weight so I have been checking my sugars just to see if maybe that is why I feeling so low right now. Thanks for the help.
4730644 tn?1358469456 Does anyone know if the neuropathy pain will get worse during spikes in blood sugar readings then slightly improve when blood sugar is back in range? I am trying to figure out if that is causing my pain to worsen at times. I have taken my readings and I am thinking that may be the case but wondering if others can confirm it. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Diabetics who have had a very high blood sugar for a long time can tolerate such high readings. Or people who drink alcohol on a regular basis because alcohol helps to lower blood sugar. A glucometer can only measure up to 500. Anything above that will register as "High".
Avatar n tn ve been off the Paxil for a month now and the flushing/sweating has totally stopped(2-3 weeks ago) and my fasting blood sugar readings have dropped to between 110-101. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking that the Paxil was somehow affecting my readings and when I was good then my sugar dropped too low, hence the flushing/sweating. Anyway, thank you for any input...
Avatar m tn Hi, This level of BP is high enough to be taken seriously, past readings are of no significance. Some times you may find such high readings if you were under stress when the readings were taken, and may become normal afterwards. So, you need to confirm it with one more measurement and if it is normal, immediate treatment is not called for, but you should still keep monitoring the pressure more often to ensure that you do not have a fluctuating BP.
Avatar f tn and the prednisone actually raising or lowering the blood glucose because then it is high or low and those numbers will effect you. Does that make sense? What I do know is that if those are accurate readings, you may no longer be pre-diabetes but may have diabetes. What is your A1C? What do you do to treat your pre-diabetes; what is important is to lose weight if you need to, lower carb intake and get regular exercise. 215 is definitely in the zone where complications begin to form.
Avatar n tn ), and high blood pressure. He is not overweight (105 lbs). He has 1 or 2 high blood sugar readings a month. Nothing over 300. His Dr. is having a difficult time with this. She keeps sending him for blood tests, and has not been able to tell me what might be going on. Any ideas?
