Avatar n tn Hypoglycemia (Low Blood sugar) is a form of Diabetes. The other Form is Hyperglycemia (High Blood sugar). So yes you are Diabetic.

1680047 tn?1468911829 The values mentioned in the first response are 'upper cut off limits' and hence normal values correspond to 'less than' these values. Lower values upto 3.3-3.9 mmol/ 60-70 mg/dl would not warrant an evaluation. Though technically 'fasting blood sugar levels' may be 'slightly' lower in children, using these minor differences have not been found to be of value in establishing a diagnostic criteria for DM.

Avatar f tn I would like to find out what normal glucose readings are, when do you have to worry, because diabetes runs in my family.
325405 tn?1262290178 Haven't yet been in to see an endocrinologist or a dietary person to talk blood sugar levels and diet. Am having problems dealing with my insurance company who won't even cover my stupid testing strips. They basically are $1 a strip. Expensive. I had gestational diabetes several years ago (gestational diabetes was covered 100% for supplies and visits), so I am aware of how to do all the blood testing and have been doign fine about that.
1080243 tn?1262975363 I'm a little confused, tarter. When you say your husband has "high readings 16-25 but no signs of diabetes", are those blood sugar readings? If so 16-25 (288-450 U.S.) ARE diabetic readings and the 25 especially is dangerously high. The fatigue and weight loss could very much be symptoms of diabetes. He should get checked with an A1C (an average of blood sugars for the last couple months).
Avatar n tn am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.
5700226 tn?1389042555 I have type 2 diabetes. For several months, I was getting blood sugar reading between 90 and 120. However, after this holiday season, my readings are much higher. I know that during the holidays, I did not eat as well as I should have. But could my bad eating be causing these higher readings that I am getting now? Will my numbers eventually get back to what I was reading before? I am eating about the same as I was when I was getting the good numbers before.
Avatar m tn t mention. Do you test your blood sugar? And if so, what sorts of readings are you seeing first thing? You say you feel better after breakfast. How long do you wait to eat? If your blood sugar is low when you get up, you should be eating pretty soon. Also, when did you last see your doctor or get an A1C? You mention drinking. Alcohol lowers blood sugar, sometimes dramatically. If you are drinking even a moderate amount at night, your blood sugar might, in fact, be dipping too low overnight.
Avatar n tn First thing you need have on hand is a home glucose test meter. The only way you're going to know how the foods you consumed affected your glucose [blood sugar] levels is by testing, testing, and more testing. Times to test are; fasting - first thing in morning b4 having any food or colored liquids [plain water is OK]. This will tell you how much stored sugar your liver is dumping during sleep hours. Normal levels are 60/70 - 99 mg/dl or 3.33/3.88 - 5.
Avatar f tn The last two days I have had readings of 60 and 54. I do not usually test in the mornings but since i had the one low of 60 I decided to check again this morning @ 7:15, slept in for once. Wondering if my moniter could be failing to register correctly? I did not feel shakey or ill. Also, are the Kidneys affected by Diabetes ? I recently had my Urine checked because of burning as I have been subject to bladder infections for years. It was ok.
Avatar n tn Here is an article on what typical blood sugar numbers should be, in case it helps you. You can also find it in the Sugar Sense app (go to the bar menu in the upper left and select Health Guide, then scroll to the section Stay Well). If you find your numbers are out of healthy range, definitely see your doctor. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn In general, though, any physical activity will help lower and/or control blood glucose in diabetics, and physical activity might show low blood sugar readings in immediate post-activity testing for any person who is not diabetic... In terms of "diagnosing" diabetes, that really is best done with fasting blood glucose levels. (Generally in the morning after not consuming anything except small amounts of water for at least 8 hours).
Avatar m tn In January my A1C was 6.8 and my sugar was also borderline. Today 6/31 I checked my sugar using my aunt's meter and it was over 400. This was about 2 hours after dinner. I'm not currently being treated for diabetes. About a month ago I started having severe dry mouth but no other symptoms. I'm currently on vacation and several states away from my doctor. Can I wait a week to see her or should I get treatment right away?
Avatar m tn This morning i took my blood test (not a diabetic, trying to rule out low blood sugar that may cause some symptoms im having) and it ranged from 118 right when i woke up to 95 when i got moving. Is too much blood on the strip bad? should i just have enough on the strip to allow a reading and take my finger away? it seemed that my readings were lower when it got just enough blood to get a reading and i took my finger away. also, how fast does a sport drink like gatorade raise your blood sugar?
Avatar n tn My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.
