325405 tn?1262290178 I had gestational diabetes several years ago (gestational diabetes was covered 100% for supplies and visits), so I am aware of how to do all the blood testing and have been doign fine about that. I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal?
8266573 tn?1403137275 s weird never felt that and I had just eaten 2 hours ago... so I went to my neighbors who has had gestational diabetes to check my sugar and it was 172 I know that's not normal but could I be developing it now and not 4 weeks ago I don't get it.. Has this happen to anyone?
Avatar n tn t tolerate the glucose and vomited within a half hour and I really tried so hard to keep it down! Because of that, I now have to take my blood sugar 4 times a day, which is understandable. Unfortunately, most readings are well below 100... On top of already being anemic, I'm wondering if low sugar levels are also contributing to my dizziness and fatigue.
Avatar m tn Hello all. I'm new here and have a question. My daughter Laura is diagnosed with gestational diabetes. She's currently on medications, but cannot lower blood sugar in the mornings. I'm afraid she will get type 2 diabetes. What is the best way (and natural, of course) to treat gestational diabetes?
Avatar f tn I do not eat any sugar or foods containing sugar. I eat a lot of veg and salad. Bran flakes for breakfast. It has improved my blood sugar levels. But not enough as i need it to. What helps you?
1399124 tn?1401020004 The quick answer is to eat "healthy" foods (high in fiber, lean means, fruits, veggies etc). Avoid junk food (fatty foods, highly processed foods, foods rich in sugar etc). As AnnieBrooke mentioned, there are websites devoted to this topic. Try googling "gestational diabetes diet plan" or something along those lines.
Avatar n tn Hello, Actually I was wondering if having a cold will affect your blood sugar levels? I had gestational Diabetes with my previous pregnancy, But was kept very much under control with diet and execersize. I have decided to get a monitor to keep an eye on my levels with this pregnancy. Up untill yesterday I have never had a reading above 140. Then yesterday It got up too 201 and within 1 1/2 hours of that reading it was back down to 98.
Avatar f tn Carbs always turn into sugar, which is what causes you to have high blood sugar. Everything has carbs in it, so you basically have to cut back on EVERYTHING. my blood sugar levels would not go down, no matter what I did or how little I would eat, so my diabetes doctor has me using insulin to control my blood sugar levels. Your baby will be fine. The doctors should start monitoring you closer, to make sure your levels stay as low as possible.
Avatar f tn U could have ate the choclat and ur sugar went way high n was starting to bottom out when u checked it ,with sugar ur body will go way high then bottom out if u have to much
Avatar f tn low blood sugar is not the same as gestational diabetes. however even with gestational diabetes you can have low blood sugar.
8526246 tn?1405601876 I have gestational diabetes and up until 3 weeks ago I was able to control my sugar levels with diet and exercise. I was diagnosed with gd at 28 weeks and I am almost 37 weeks. I am on medicine for it. I balled my eyes out because I feel like a failure. They reassured me that sometimes its the person not doing what they should, but in my case its different. I am being induced at 39 weeks. Im hoping I go into labor on my own. No c section unless my baby has a massive growth spurt.
Avatar n tn In general, if your blood sugar level is below 100 mg / dL after fasting for at least 8 to 10 hours, then your blood sugar is normal. Blood sugar levels are usually lowest before each meal.
Avatar f tn Hi: I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 29 weeks, this is my 32 week. I am trying to control my glucose levels with highly restricted diet and some exercise. So far I succeeded but sometimes readings come very erratic, another problem is my fasting glucose levels which always come on border ie <5.2. Usually when I get abnormal reading at 1hr I again do at 2hr. I am really puzzled how to overcome this problem, is this also common with other women?
1431915 tn?1292476740 If you need a sweetener for tea or desserts or something, i would use agave nectar as it has a low glycemic index meaning it will prevent your blood sugar from drastic changes. If you are going to have something sweet or like crackers, bread, or white rice (processed foods), it is better to have it with some protien like nuts or seeds or cheese cubes or fish or meat, which will help balance and keep your blood sugar readings from going so high.
Avatar f tn You can have multi grain breads something high in fiber helps a lot. Having GD is not that hard. I've been following a not so strict diet and have had great sugar readings because I portion control everything. I'm 37 weeks Wednesday and I will be delivering Wednesday for high BP. I've only gained 10 pounds and they think my baby will be around 6 1/2 pounds at delivery. I'm sure everyone's sugar levels depends on the person my GD might not be a severe case.
Avatar n tn Dinner was the most carbs allowed- I had to make sure I ate 6 small meals a day instead of three large ones. I tracked my diet, and my blood sugar readings with each meal (they showed me how to do that too). I was terrified at first, but that pregnancy that I had gestational diabetes with was really the BEST! I ate well, and felt so much better- it's something that you have to pay attention to, but it will be ok.
13335980 tn?1433814733 The test I know of require levels to be 140, and above to have gestational diabetes and even after that the doctor retest by doing a three hour glucose test. Then they diagnose you. I just went thru this.
231441 tn?1333892766 While anything under 100 as a fasting blood sugar can be ideal, they really want to see readings around 80-90 FBS. Your doctor is being very cautious and rightfully so. So I don't think it's too early to do a Glucose Tolerance Test. What harm can it do, except make you feel high as a kite from all the sugar? At least you will know how your body is tolerating high levels of sugar in your blood, early in your pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I just have porridge or toast or crumpets... I'm due too see diabetes Dr, Dietian on Tuesday I just don't understand the readings how they possibly think I'm gd I know it's based on fact how long your body takes to break down sugars etc which if it's long leads a gd diagnosis but pretty much 2hrs after eating I've gone back between 5& 6 which 2hrs after eating is good for non diabetic can be upto 10 2hrs after...
233552 tn?1228319699 I went to the doc today and he gave me my results....my blood sugar is 217. I knew that this would happen again but I wanted it to wait another month or two. My doc is going to put me on a diet after this weekend. I told him that you can't put a pregnant woman on a diet and he laughed right along with me. Then he said oh yes I can. Silly doctors. Baby's heartbeat still in the 160's and get U/S next month to find out what I'm having and I can't wait.
Avatar n tn ve done finger/arm tests throughout the day and have not had anything remotely abnormal. I had a fasting blood sugar level of 93 first thing in the AM and all my levels after eating were 135 or below. Could the 191 have been error? Should I request to have the one hour test repeated first before I torture myself with the three hour test? Or should I just suck it up and do the test.
Avatar f tn My fasting blood sugar came as 103, and my doctor has put me on gestational diabetes diet. Other day I was talking to a friend who had gestational diabetes(GDM),she said range for pregnant women is till 110. The time from when I have started GDM diet,I feel really low on energy. Any of you on GDM diet facing such issues? I have to get rechecked in a few days,so m strictly following the diet with absolutely no sugar and really low carbs...
Avatar f tn t Affect your blood pressure it affects your blood sugar you probably have pre e like pp said I just got diagnosed with GD and it's not really what you eat it's all about how the placenta affects your hormones anyone can get it I'm a healthy eater and still got it my friend eats the worst foods and she didn't get it
Avatar f tn s more aggravating having to test your blood sugar so often and tying to count carbs, but you can still eat anything you want just in small portions throughout the day.
Avatar n tn Hi, 223 is too high (is that blood sugar or blood pressure)? In either case it's too high. Most likley you have gestational diabetes with these numbers. Low carb eating and careful portion control will help with your blood sugar management. Worst case you will need to take medications / insulin. Please don't eat sugars now. Work with your doctor. Good blood sugar control is important for healthy pregnancy.
