That little test he does apparently keeps showing an average blood sugar of 130 when I know that to be untrue. I have a glucometer and check my sugar regularly throughout the day. I've even shown him my meter's log and he still won't believe me about my spikes and crashes. He believes I'm just overly worried and that it's all in my head. What do I do?

I've always had problems with this even before pregnancy and I think it's my blood sugar. I try to always keep peanut butter crackers or a protein bar in my purse for when I start to feel bad and it seems to work!

My question is does anyone know what it should be? I go to the Dr tomorrow so I will ask him, but I'm just curious.

Has anyone else had extreme blood sugar drops? Mine gets to where i lose vision and cant walk or almost hurl everywhere:'( i already struggle with hyperglacimia would pregnancy make it worse??

However to confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. Also then I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. Also take iron rich diet and iron supplements.

It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.

Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. I'm type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.

Mine never got that bad either nor hit that fast my sugar test where all fine but i get sugar drops every now n then cause when not pregnant i have low blood sugar i am36 weeks tomorrow. Im just hoping its cause i skipped lunch cause i wasnt feeling well. the worst part of it dropping at walmart wasnt that bad i had my 3yrear only daughter with me she was scared she seen something was wrong took me 30 mins to get it back up.

My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.

You should check two hours after eating for a more reliable indication of diabetes or blood sugar problems, before a meal you should be between 70-99 and two hours after you should be 140 or below.

Solumedrol is known to cause problems with the A1C counts - increases in sugar levels on steroids are common. Were you predisposed to diabetes before you were diagnosed with MS? If it is a temparary condition it is cause by low blood sugar. For years I had this problem and still do from time to time. I have low blood sugar naturaly so I foloow a diabetic diet to even out my blood sugar. When my eye gets like that, I know I need to eat something sweet ( fruit) and that resolves the problem. What you don't want is having to do that all day long. Eat healthy choices all day and you will not have that issue.

Has anyone dealt with low blood sugar during pregnancy? I took my 1 hr glucose test- I had black coffee prior to the drinking the glucose drink, then 1 hr of nothing and my blood draw. My level came back at 65. My midwiNenmade a passing comment about it bein low and watching for symptoms of lightheadedness but wasn't concerned. What were your numbers if you were deemed low blood sugar? Any other symptoms? Thanks!

While it is normal to have a rise in blood sugar level after a meal, excessive rise in blood sugar levels could indicate inappropriate dosage/ timing of injecting the insulin or excessive or inappropriate proportion of carbohydrate in diet. You could start by slightly lowering the carbohydrate and increasing the protein portion of diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting your treating endocrinologist for adjustment in dosage/ timing of the insulin. Hope this is helpful.

Yes, you need some ready sugar / candy when you do have low blood sugar, but complex carbs at other meals to help keep things steady. Small snacks between meals may also help.

I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low.
