7543158 tn?1391978069 That little test he does apparently keeps showing an average blood sugar of 130 when I know that to be untrue. I have a glucometer and check my sugar regularly throughout the day. I've even shown him my meter's log and he still won't believe me about my spikes and crashes. He believes I'm just overly worried and that it's all in my head. What do I do?
Avatar n tn My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.
Avatar f tn I've always had problems with this even before pregnancy and I think it's my blood sugar. I try to always keep peanut butter crackers or a protein bar in my purse for when I start to feel bad and it seems to work!
Avatar f tn You should check two hours after eating for a more reliable indication of diabetes or blood sugar problems, before a meal you should be between 70-99 and two hours after you should be 140 or below.
Avatar n tn I would check out that link to make sure there is some hard science to back it up, because cancer does like estrogen and a large load of blood glucose does cause a temporary insulin surge. I would guess unrefined sugar and most carbohydrate foods probably cause a bit less of a glucose load in the bloodstream and therefore less of an insulin surge than refined sugar products, and my guess is that there should be a lot of information out there in the diabetes literature.
Avatar f tn If you have problems with low blood sugar that is called hypoglycemia. Anybody can become hypoglycemic, especially if they aren't eating enough or have a high metabolism. You could talk to your doctor about your specific situation but it sounds like your nurse already gave suggestions about eating more often to keep your sugars up to a normal level.
1500009 tn?1289188569 If it is a temparary condition it is cause by low blood sugar. For years I had this problem and still do from time to time. I have low blood sugar naturaly so I foloow a diabetic diet to even out my blood sugar. When my eye gets like that, I know I need to eat something sweet ( fruit) and that resolves the problem. What you don't want is having to do that all day long. Eat healthy choices all day and you will not have that issue.
Avatar f tn Blood sugar levels of that magnitude can be dangerous. Once his blood sugar levels are under control, the rest of his problems may resolve. The sore throat and other problems could also indicate that he has an infection that needs to be taken care of, and this could also be causing blood sugar problems.
368396 tn?1391945302 His blood work was great other then his sugar was up ....Wish us luck as we go further...
Avatar f tn While it is normal to have a rise in blood sugar level after a meal, excessive rise in blood sugar levels could indicate inappropriate dosage/ timing of injecting the insulin or excessive or inappropriate proportion of carbohydrate in diet. You could start by slightly lowering the carbohydrate and increasing the protein portion of diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting your treating endocrinologist for adjustment in dosage/ timing of the insulin. Hope this is helpful.
180395 tn?1287493997 Yes, you need some ready sugar / candy when you do have low blood sugar, but complex carbs at other meals to help keep things steady. Small snacks between meals may also help.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
304573 tn?1345577338 Anyone start having problems with their blood glucose levels...seems I am becoming hyperglycemic.....
Avatar n tn I am a brain tumor/nerve compression patient (which I am suddenly have found myself having too take a steriod-though the problems that told me too go too the ER started before I started taking this steriod that can induse hypoglocemia). Anyway, all my symptoms now tha I hav gotten home fit the Type 1 Diabetes list and it does run in my family.
Avatar f tn There is a sugar load test usually performed in situations like yours. Lab in doc office (endo clinic) takes fasting blood sugar blood draw, then you drink a sugar loaded drink provided, wait two hours, then they take blood again to compare if your cells absorb sugar or if it floats around in the blood in high levels. If you dont put sweets in your house, then you cant really eat them. Time to cut back while your still young.

752468 tn?1237560359 Hi...I am a member of the Breast Cancer Community and just found out that my husband's blood glucose level fasting is 250. He has had the symptoms of diabetis ...excessive thirst, weight loss...tingly feet, and I noticed very sticky spots of urine on the bathroom floor. We are not surprised that he has diabetis...runs in the family. My question is, where do we go first. He hasn't even talked to a doctor yet, but we want to get a jump on this.
Avatar f tn Rereading your post, I can see it translating as a blood sugar issue as well. Your blood sugar was definitely low for having just eaten. You should probably start carrying little candies around in your purse and have one if you start feeling the way you've been feeling and maybe have something like orange juice on hand when you're at work for times when you really start feeling that way. If it helps, it could definitely be that you've developed hypoglycemia.
Avatar n tn If cancer blocks the release of the pancreatic juice into the intestine, a person may not be able to digest fatty foods. The undigested fat may cause stools to be unusually pale, bulky, greasy, and to float in the toilet. The cancer may also wrap around the far end of the stomach and partly block it. This will cause nausea, vomiting, and pain that tends to be worse after eating. Gallbladder enlargement: Sometimes the cancer will block the bile duct.
Avatar n tn When he had a seizure Friday I called 911 and the paramedics checked his blood sugar and it was 218 and they thought he might be diabetic. 8 hours later we took him to the health department and they checked his sugar (by drawing blood from his arm) and it was 112 and they said he wasn't diabetic and that the finger ***** test wasn't very accurate. They thought that the seizure caused his sugar to go up. The last time he had ate anything was 12 hours before the seizure.
