Blood sugar over 1000

Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar over 1000

blood-sugar

Avatar n tn s blood sugar goes up when the diabetic usually has high levels. For example, when my mother was diagnosed as a diabetic, her blood sugar was over 1000 and she was alert and could walk. You see, my mother must have been a diabetic for a very long time and didn't know it. So her blood sugar slowly climbed up and her body was used to always having a very high blood sugar. Diabetics can get used to having high blood sugar.
Avatar f tn salad, grilled fajita chicken, small amounts of cheese and sour cream, 3 oz guacamole, 2 chicken flautas. Took my blood sugar and it was 67. What does this mean?

Avatar n tn His blood sugars are NOT fine. A fasting level of 121 mg/dl is prediabetes.
1448460 tn?1284694467 Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.
Avatar f tn d probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn Your doctor should test your HbA1c. This test gives an average blood sugar over the past approximately 3 months. Normal HBA1C is 4.3 - 4.6, with < 5.0 still being acceptable. If your HBA1C is 6 - 7 your blood sugars are too high. If it is above 7 you will be officially diagnosed as diabetic. Diet, exercise and weight loss are all a critical part of management of diabetes.
Avatar f tn 1) I have had an intense sweet craving the past couple days (sometimes they say this is related to liver damage, I thought of attributing this to the fact that I had two giant cokes (normally I drink the mini cokes) the past couple of mornings, so I have messed up my blood sugar for the day, forcing me to crave more sugar. I have had problems with hypoglycemia (non-liver disease related) but I don't usually crave sugar unless it is in the form of Coca Cola :p).
233552 tn?1228319699 I went to the doc today and he gave me my results....my blood sugar is 217. I knew that this would happen again but I wanted it to wait another month or two. My doc is going to put me on a diet after this weekend. I told him that you can't put a pregnant woman on a diet and he laughed right along with me. Then he said oh yes I can. Silly doctors. Baby's heartbeat still in the 160's and get U/S next month to find out what I'm having and I can't wait.
Avatar f tn I agree with troytroy that you need to meet with a doctor or diabetic educater to learn the basics of diabetes care. First of all being continually over 130 for fasting blood sugar is too high. Your wife needs to have her doctor evaluate her medication regimen and see if something needs to be changed. Also I'm guessing you don't know much about diet and exercise to help control Type II diabetes and this is very important to learn.
Avatar n tn m no doctor but I have never heard of multi dosage of Metformin ER, as the ER stands for Extended Release, works for 24 hrs.Too much can cause dangerously low blood sugar [hypoglycemia]. It also depends on your doctor. If he/she Rx'd 1000mg in AM and 1000 mg in PM that is the dose to follow as he/she has knowledge of your medical history/records, not us or anyone on the Internet. Splitting and/or adjusting dosage without first discussing with your doctor is ill advised.
Avatar n tn Good afternoon. I have been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes for about 5 years now...I think I had the problem well before that but I had a doctor who would never run the test (just lose some weight, etc). I'm not very good about keeping my levels under control because I get so discouraged that I just give up from time to time.
Avatar m tn Rare (affect between 1 in 1000 and 1 in 10,000 people) Disturbances in the numbers of blood cells in the blood. Increased blood sugar levels (hyperglycaemia). Depression. Tremor. Convulsions. Hallucinations. Nightmares. Pins and needles sensations. Pain in the muscles or joints (joint disorders are more common in children). Liver or kidney disorders. Increased sensitivity of the skin to light (photosensitivity (see warning above).
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar f tn Her urine had 1000 of glucose in it and 3+ ketones. I brought her in right away and her sugar was only 87. They checked her sugars a couple more times over a two week period and were 102 and 11 a few hours after eating, so not bad. Another urine sample showed trace glucose. Her HA1C in office was only 5.1, so not bad. I don't know what this all really means. If it was just a fluke that her urine sugars were so high one time or what. Anyone have any knowledge on the matter?
Avatar f tn Yes, Metformin is reported to help decrease appetite, but then you still need to do the weight of eating less and exercising more! The good news is that cutting carbs will help both your blood sugar and your weight! (which in turn helps your blood sugar!
