Avatar n tn sound like you have DP (dawn phenomenon) your liver decides to be a good dube and releases glucose in the morning so your body has the energy to get going. Unfortunately it ether releases to much glucose or your pancreas cant keep up with insulin so your BG rises. I take that back there is a natural hormone you can take, pig insulin. Metforman has a 30 year history and works well at keeping the liver from releasing glucose.
Avatar f tn I have been monitoring my blood sugars at home since at a doctor visit my fasting glucose was 135. Every morning in the past week I have taken it (on empty stomach) it has been in the 130's, only one time it was 114. All throughout the day it is between 129 and 158, sometimes it is 192, 263. I had blood drawn today for A1c, should get the results in a couple of days. I am wondering if these numbers are normal, or do I have a problem?
Avatar n tn s some information on the Dawn Phenomenon from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app. You can find this in the app by clicking the menu bar in the upper left and selecting Health Guide, then navigating to The Basics section. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn a1c is the average, but it is also important to see the fasting numbers. Sometimes early in diabetes only the fasting numbers may be high, and paying attention to these may give a heads up on taking action. Ideally fasting is < 100 (and even better if it's in the 80s). Normal non-diabetic a1c is < 5.0, though you may not get diagnosed as diabetic until you are 5.7 or higher.
Avatar n tn The morning blood sugar is a fasting blood sugar and tells the doctor how your body reacts with out food. The body releases hormones (growth etc.), while the body is at rest. Most hormones are glucose based and can affect blood sugar that is why when women menstruate and children have growth spurts their blood sugars and insulin dosages need to be changed. I would suggest you ask your doctor what blood sugar range he would like you to be in and what you could do to be in better control.
Avatar f tn Here is a table that lists blood glucose ranges for adults with diabetes: Glycemic control A1C <7.0% Preprandial plasma glucose (before a meal) 70–130 mg/dl (5.0–7.2 mmol/l) Postprandial plasma glucose (after a meal) <180 mg/dl (<10.

I have also notice that i spike about 1 hour after eating and come down around 2 hours after which is mostly in the 130. and i notice if i drink a can of pop.
Avatar n tn Hmm, sorry but I guess I do not understand. Your post says that the discussion is related to "fasting blood sugar levels high in the morning" but all of your information relates to testing blood after meals. Guess that for me it cannot be both. My Diabetes Nurse's instructions for morning fasting blood test are to test the blood "when you awake, before eating or any medication".

Avatar n tn what is the number of blood sugar in the morning afternoon and evening between meals and how many hours after food, thanks
1448460 tn?1284694467 When you have a strong family history of diabetes and have watched family struggle with the complications of it, you have a more realistic understanding of what could happen to you in the future. There is no time like the present to make the changes necessary to avoid those complications. You lost 50 pounds!!! Congratulations! That is a huge achievement! Don't let anybody else make you feel that it is not.
Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
Avatar m tn HI my doctor has asked me to take another blood test after 3 months. I have started using Fenugreek seeds in the morning and do get random tests done 2 Hours after eating the other day i did a full plasma Random glucose test the result was 116. Lets see if I can lower my levels from the original 128 Fasting. Will keep you posted. Btw I am travelling to my native land hence the delay in replying to your post. Thanks a Lot for all the help.
Avatar n tn m trying to understand why 2 hours after meals my blood sugar is typically between 70 and 90 but nearly every morning after fasting all night it's typically 102-115. I've read about the dawn phenomenon and wonder if this is the cause. Does anyone know how to help control the dawn phenomenon?

Avatar f tn The pain is in both feet and ankles. I take five neurontin and a januvia every day because of postprandial high glucose numbers. I've had peripheral neuropathy and diabetes 2 for about 7 years now. I see a neurologist, endocrynologist, podiatrist and my primary doctor and so far no real answers.
Avatar n tn I just found out that I'm pregnant, and my blood sugar is literally all over the place. One hour it will be 140, and the next hour it will be 240. I have another week until my endocrinologist appointment, and I am VERY NERVOUS. PLEASE HELP!? What can I do to keep it down until my Dr appointments? I'm limiting my carbs, and excercising. What else can i do?
