Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.

Avatar n tn On June 24,2004 she was diagnosed to have Diabetes of age 8 after a serious arm-brocken accident. Her Blood sugar level is very high up to 16 or 19 sometimes. Very seldom can be controlled to average 5. Because of the poor family situation, she has no any money for the Diabetes medicine. Some warm-hearted people bought her the Insuline Injection Pump and Blood Tester, but she cannot afford the Test Strips.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Tbd Hi. So, a glucose meter using a finger tip prick or a continuous glucose monitor is best for checking blood sugar. Of course, that's after you are diagnosed with diabetes. Prior to that, blood work ordered by your doctor will reveal your sugar levels. https://diabetes.
Avatar n tn Hi, Can I ask what insulins you take? Are you on pump or MDI (multiple daily injections). Is your basal insulin taken once or twice a day. If you are going low from exercise, you may need to decrease your basal (this is easier if you are on a pump). Alternatively you may plan your exercise after eating and inject slightly less than usual insulin for the meal, as the exercise will naturally bring your blood sugars down.
180395 tn?1287493997 Once before breakfast and once before lunch. So I decided to buy a glucose monitor to check to see if maybe low blood sugar was the culprit. Well this morning before I bought it I came to work, had 2 donuts for breakfast (this isnt an everyday thing, someone just decided to be nice and bring some to work this morning) then I had 2 cups of coffee with creamer that contains sugar and on the way to work this morning I had a large cup of sweet tea.
1947337 tn?1331423890 I slept til almost 3 and i had to just force myself to get up and unlock the door for my son. All i could think of was to check my blood sugar (i have a maachine from yrs ago when i had gest diab but have never had any other prob that i know of. Anyway, it was 56 which i think is low so i ate a couple of spoonsful of pb and drank a dr pepper. Waited 45 min and checked it again, it went up to 72. I still don't feel good but better than this morning....

Avatar n tn Okay - I was happy with my One Touch Ultra. Yes, it failed to pipe up enough blood sometimes resulting in a wasted strip. Yes, the 1 mu thing is a marketing gimmick since it still wants 3 mu of blood or the strip won't fill and you get an error. But - I learned its qwirks and got used to it.
Avatar n tn The nurse wants me to come in to do a continous blood sugar monitor on her to see but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. Any help I can get I would appreciate.
Avatar m tn I am not sure. I said on other posts that I thought it might have been novocaine, but there are many other numbing agents out there. I didn't follow through on this, I just accepted the explanation given me by the dental professionals that I spoke to. It could be that I just have a reaction that other diabetics don't have. At any rate, after the injection they knew that I had gone into hypoglycemia and, they knew what to do.
Dude You should use your meter to monitor your blood sugar and to also see the effect of diet, exercise, and medications (and then use this information to improve your blood sugar control). Your Dr is doing you no favors by not giving you the tools you need to properly manage your diabetes, which should include the means to monitor your blood sugar / treatment..
Avatar f tn I have a MiniMed pump and was excited to learn that they had this new device available. Then I would know exactly when my blood sugar was getting to high or to low and I could take care of it that very second. Especially when I am trying conceive and during the pregnancy I think I would really help make sure I had a healthy baby. I contacted MiniMed about it. The found out that my insurance does not cover the device, nor the monthly supplies for it.
Avatar m tn If I monitor my blood sugar levels closely, my levels actually go up during and after exercise. I thought they were supposed to go down. Why is this happening?
