Common Questions and Answers about Blood sugar monitor mayo clinic

blood-sugar

Avatar m tn A random blood sugar test measures your blood sugar at any point in time, not necessarily a certain amount of time after a meal, snack or beverage. A normal random blood sugar level even if you've recently eaten and your blood sugar level is at its peak, shouldn't be higher than 200 mg/dL. A fasting blood sugar test measures the amount of sugar in your blood after you fast for at least eight hours or overnight.

Avatar f tn I have not heard about MS and low blood sugar being related. I do know that there are many people that have MS and diabetes. Still the doctor's say they are not related. I still have the gut feeling that they are related. Please make sure that your doctor is aware of these times of low blood sugar. You don't want to take any chances with your health.

582396 tn?1259863489 I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?
Avatar m tn Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.
Avatar n tn At dinner I ate lasagna, salad, sweet tea. Anyway 30-45 minutes after dinner, my blood sugar was 118. Is this normal or does it seem kind of high? At the doctor last year fasting it was 91. Also, I have been suffereing from severe fatigue after my long runs and have to basically sit down for the rest of the day which I hate. I am going to start to check my blood sugar after these runs to see what it is. I eat alot after the long runs but it does not seem to help.
Avatar n tn s instructions to stay in control of your diabetes. Take your medications as directed and closely monitor your blood sugar. * Lower your cholesterol. A healthy plant-based diet, exercise and medications can help keep your cholesterol and your triglycerides at healthy levels. * Protect your liver. Avatar m tn The only hospitals doing livers in Phoenix are Mayo and Banner Good Samaritan. If he has a referral to Mayo hepatology, ask at the appt if he would be eligible for transplant. I recommend Mayo highly.
603046 tn?1279159413 Zoe, The Mayo Clinic as well as the American Diabetes Association (ADA) have revised what they feel are the "normal" glucose ranges, and at the same time dropped "prediabetes" from the vocabulary. Although Mayo derives their ranges for the ADA, they're not exactly the same. One has 70 mg/dl as the low, the other 80 mg/dl. Both have 130 mg/dl as the high for prandial (fasting). Both have postprandial as <180 mg/dl.

Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar n tn A fasting blood glucose at the lab was 88 and a blood glucose at the lab during severe symptoms was 96. Recently, the endo got me a blood sugar monitor and all my test results are normal. All thyroid workups came back normal. The endocrinologist didn't seem to think it was an endocrinology issue but I cannot seem to find anything else that explains the symptoms. I cannot function anymore-and the doctors are not helping me! Thank you! Thank You!
Avatar f tn Maybe I was too harsh about Mayo. To be fair to Mayo Clinic, I do think they do have some very good doctors there, maybe it's just hard to get a neuro diagnosis - as it seems to be most other places in this country - so what's new? I did really think the Mayo radiologist who looked at my films was excellent - he found a couple of things the original outside radiologist did not notice such as brain mass loss.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.

Avatar n tn The holter monitor did take BP readings about every 15 minutes for 24 hours. BP readings ran from 106-159 mean Systolic was 124 and the mean Diastolic 78, min HR was 40 and the Max was 90 avg HR was 59 (Over 24 HR) I can exercise without any discomfort, it is just that it seams that the last few years the body is not getting any breaks, every time I get tested I come up with another issue. The energy levels over the course of a week is all over from being just fine to just dragging.
