blood-sugar

Avatar m tn Start a written log of what you eat/drink and portion size, next to it your blood sugar levels. Test before you eat [preprandial] for a baseline measurement and then 2-3 hours after you finish your meal [postprandial]. You do have a home glucose test meter, right? By comparing preprandial with postprandial, postprandial will inform you which foods elevate your levels and which ones do not. You need to make a concentrated lifestyle change starting with foods.

Avatar f tn For the past few years, I get really shaky and weak and my heart pounds right after I eat. It lasts a good hour and then I feel better. I told my doctor and she did a fasting blood sugar on me and it came back fine. But I feel fine if I don't eat. However, I have to force myself to eat because the longer I go without eating, the worse I feel after I finally do. I don't have other typical diabetes symptoms. What could this be?
Avatar n tn I am not an expert either, but from general knowledge as a nurse I would expect you to follow your diet plan as given, eating perhaps 4-5 small meals a day (if that is what your doctor has instructed you) and keeping near the 20 gm net carb limit, no matter what your blood sugar is. Just keep a log of what you eat and when, and a log of when and what your blood sugar is. That may help the doc figure out what YOUR body needs.
577285 tn?1706032371 Blood Sugar Tracker for us diabetic's out there please. It would be an invaluable tool for us to track this VITAL READING. 1363757 tn?1277819546 Keep a written log as a reminder as to what foods you should be eating. Fruits have fructose, fruit sugar. Tropical fruits, oranges, and like are high in fructose. Berries & some melons on the other hand are low in fructose. Eat fruits with other foods to slow the absorption of fructose into the blood stream. Avoid fruit juice. Avoid man-made products, white foods [potatoes, white rice, white flour, white bread], and dairy [milk, yogurt]. These are high in sugar.
Avatar m tn Would checking your blood sugar level 3 hours after a meal be considered "BEFORE" OR "AFTER" a Meal.
Avatar n tn what is the number of blood sugar in the morning afternoon and evening between meals and how many hours after food, thanks
Avatar f tn My dad who is a diabetic said he was a little worried and to have him come over and he will check his blood sugar. It was 249 about 2.5 hours after eating. He gave us a glucose monitor and he have been checking it regularly. Some times it gets about 110 and then other times it will spike. The highest its been so far is 269. I have no idea what this means. Im so new to all of this. Is this normal? I called the pedi and they told me to keep a log and call them in a few days.
Avatar f tn I have had T1D for 9 months now. The last week or so my blood sugar had been between 240-340 mg/dl and I can't get it to come down. What should I do?
Avatar n tn I am still trying to figure out what the previous comment was about..Lol Ok, I am not a professional, but I can tell you that in my opinion your blood sugar is hitting rock bottom when you don't eat. That makes you shake as well as other things with could include passing out. It is dangerous to let your blood sugar get that low so Please take the time and eat your meals.
Avatar f tn d probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn 2) and he thinks I am a diabetic and that would explain why I need to urinate so often, he said further tests are needed to confirm diabetes, in the meantime he gave me a sugar testing kit and told me to keep a log and after reviewing it he will prescribe some meds. (also told me that I should try to loose some weight and exercises more) I am on a diet since (no white bread, junk food, colored soda, etc) and walk everyday for 30 minutes.
Avatar n tn I think a food tracker would be very beneficial, not only for those who are trying to monitor food reactions, but also to manage their weight and keep a log of what they are eating every day.
Avatar n tn You could work it out, I guess. Test your blood sugar. Then inject one unit of insulin and test 2 hours later to see how far your blood sugar has fallen. One unit is not likely to cause any dramatic problem. Please make sure you monitor your blood sugar closely when you are taking insulin as an overdose can be dangerous and and an underdose won't get your sugars down enough. Do you have a past log book as recommended by diabetes86? How high is your sugar?
Avatar f tn I would recommend that you resume checking your blood glucose. Keep a log of your blood sugar and your diet. If you notice your sugar spiking and your symptoms returning with certain foods then you have your answer. If you resume controlling your diet and feel better, then you also have an answer. Gestational diabetes does usually resolve after the birth of the baby, however, this is not usually immediate. The symptoms can persist for a period of time. Good luck.
Avatar f tn You need to consult a gastroenterologist and you may need colonoscopy, or endoscopy apart from stool test. Also log in what you eat and symptoms as they appear. You may be having a food intolerance. Take care!
Avatar f tn At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.
Avatar f tn That would be what would tell you how concerned you should be with your blood sugar number. What the doctor is watching whether you need some form of insulin to keep your sugar to a acceptable level.
Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
