452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar n tn There are many reasons for trembling/shakes, perhaps your Dr should start with a blood test to look at your electrolyte levels. These are metals which you consume in food and assist the nervous system in conductivity. A lack can cause shakes and make you feel somewhat lethargic. I used to take a tonic years ago, I think it was metatone tonic which was a syrup containing all kinds of metals. It was like a magic medicine, really boosting you. Not sure if anything like that is still available.
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
1806721 tn?1554333407 An AC1 blood test determines the long-term blood sugar levels in your cells and is the gold star test to establish a diabetes diagnosis. I'm a type 2 diabetic, and almost always test after fasting between 100 - 115, but my AC1 tests dropped below 6.0 after adopting a diet suggested by a dietician. Fasting sometimes causes short term rises in blood sugar, but the AC1 test is far more accurate. I've taken statins for fifteen years, they are very safe.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar n tn Just had some general questions. 1st, my dad is a diabetic. I am not as far as I know. He developed it in his 50's I believe. Everyone on his side of the family has it and heart disease and are overweight. I am 36, 6 feet tall 165 lbs. I am a runner. Last night I had borrowed an old gluecose tester from my dad. I ate a salad for lunch at 12:00 or so then nothing until dinner. At dinner I ate lasagna, salad, sweet tea. Anyway 30-45 minutes after dinner, my blood sugar was 118.
Avatar n tn Persistently high blood sugar can cause heart disease, kidney disease, resultant high blood pressure and because of heart disease a rapid pulse rate that you may become aware of (palpitations). High BP could be the cause of headaches. You need to get certain investigations done like fasting and post prandial sugar, glycosylated hemoglobin levels to know you over all blood sugar status. You may need further testing for kidney and heart function.
Avatar f tn Wael Richeh, Jesus Lovera and colleagues at Louisiana State University gives food for thought. They asked whether blood sugar is linked to levels of MS disability, and found that people with higher levels of glucose were more likely to have higher levels of disability. This important lead needs more study to prove a role for blood sugar in MS progression. (Abstract P04.130)" https://www.nationalmssociety.
Avatar n tn Her EKG was normal and her BP was 110/70, which is somewhat high for her (yes high) given that she normally has a much lower BP (chronically stuck at 90/60). Her blood sugar (fasting because she hadn't eaten) was 148. Historically, my mother has never experienced heart problems (although her brother has a heart condition) she also has a low blood pressure and does not suffer from diabetes or any other chronic condition. She's only taking Cipralex for mild depression.
Avatar m tn With your diet it could be something simple like high processed sugar consumption. There are genes which make us more likely to get heart disease, but in most people we need triggers to make it start. Is your blood pressure being kept at normal levels? is your blood cholesterol level normal or low?
Avatar n tn s. When a person is under more stress, the blood sugar levels can drop. By depriving yourself of sugar, may be causing more symptoms. Try eating crackers and cheese when you are having symptoms to see if that helps. If it helps in 20 minutes after eating it, it is most likely due to blood sugar. If you find this to be true, try eating more protein rich foods.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.
579258 tn?1250649343 Not only do lentils help lower cholesterol, they are of special benefit in managing blood-sugar disorders since their high fiber content prevents blood sugar levels from rising rapidly after a meal. But this is far from all lentils have to offer. Lentils also provide good to excellent amounts of six important minerals, two B-vitamins, and protein-all with virtually no fat. The calorie cost of all this nutrition? Just 230 calories for a whole cup of cooked lentils.
Avatar m tn you are "5 feet 11 inch = 180.34 centimeters " and weigh only 52 kgs? you are way too skinny. stop the weed immediately, cut down on the cigs if you're smoking a lot of them. if you're body is too weak for sports then sports might work against you. do you eat properly? you should get your blood checked by a doctor to see if you have a disease that is causing you to be so skinny.
5789562 tn?1374459029 Recent studies have shown no reductions in death in people over the age of 65 or people with no existing heart disease on statins (regardless of how much their cholesterol was lowered) and no benefit at all in women of any age. It is very important to understand statistics here and the difference between relative risk and absolute risk reduction. Much of the advertising with statins describe a 36% risk reduction in heart attacks. This is a relative risk reduction.
Avatar f tn Think about how much sugar you consume each day, processed sugar. This is know now to cause heart disease and the UK actually hinted at taxing sugar. Smoking is a killer, the toxins attack your arteries. Long term stress can add problems because it raises blood pressure. So I believe you are asking the right questions and making the right decisions.
Avatar n tn Other common health conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, pancreatitis, hemolytic anemia and thyroid disease, can also cause liver transaminase elevations. Most liver diseases are characterized by greater ALT elevations than AST elevations except cirrhosis and alcohol abuse. ALT also rises in bile duct obstruction due to stone or tumor. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
Avatar n tn That is rare, for in most cases, the person feels crummy for a while, but the body eventually regulates the sugar levels. During a hypo episode (as a type 1 diabetic, of course I have occasionally overdosed by accident when my insulin didn't properly match the food carbs I ate), the eyes feel dry and vision CAN change temporarily.
Avatar n tn I was told it was probably low blood sugar but that would not explain the numbness or the tingling sensation (and this was probably the worst part). This has never occurred to me before. I had eaten a sandwich for breakfast at about 7 AM and this occurred at about 2:20 PM when I was about to perform. I had been feeling really weak prior to this occurrence but not as badly as I did at that moment.
325405 tn?1262290178 I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal? Right now, I'm testing about 100 to 110 in the morning and about 110 to 130 after meals. If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good?
