Avatar f tn At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
Avatar n tn I'm on Sub. but have not heard this. Had my sugar and other blood work done the day I started Sub, so that wouldn't show anything. I'll have to try and remember to get my sugar tested (my mom has diabeties and has the little tester kit). Maybe someone else has heard of this.
Avatar f tn However, if you can get a blood sugar test kit (and strips) you could test fasting blood sugar (as soon as you wake up and before eating), and 2 hours after meals. If these numbers are high, then you would need to see a doctor. Keep an eye out, there may be free blood sugar testing offered by some pharmacies / in malls from time to time. Why do you think you have diabetes? WHat are your symptoms?
Avatar f tn I fasted 8 hours and then went to the clinic to get blood tested for diabetes...first the pricked my finger and then my blood sugar showed 97...then urine test was good didn't find sugar in my urine...then drown blood to take to the lab...
11478709 tn?1526751275 I noticed the same symptom if I work long hours like more than 8 hours a day but with the driving it comes much quicker.. I guess it has something to do with the sugar in blood but recently I have done blood test through my GP practice and nobody told me that I had a diabetes or something like this.. I have done blood test for sugar last year with different practice as well but nobody contacted me then either. I would b delighted if somebody can explain my problem really thanks..

Avatar m tn I've been suffering on and off from what I think is some kind of metabolic disorder or low blood sugar level. I've always gotten the typical irritability/shakiness when hungry ever since I was little, but it seems really out of hand right now. Before a meal/when I'm hungry, I have all the symptoms of hypoglycemia and have to eat NOW to feel better. So I'll eat a snack or my usual meal, but about 30mins to 1hour later I get tired, weak, lightheaded and hot flushes.
Avatar f tn i had been pricked by a blood sugar lancet two or three times which is white one with a cap on it.its my grandmother kit and one lady of neighbour hood sometimes comes to test her sugarshe is very thin.i dont know her hiv status but is their any risk?
Avatar f tn I have hypoglycemia and my blood sugar usually runs less than 100 after eating, but yesterday it spiked to 176. Should I be worried it turned into diabetes? I am 40 years old, don't have insurance & haven't seen a doctor for tests in about 6-8 years. I have been very thirsty, waking up to urinate 6-8 times during the night. I am very cold (live in Phoenix, Arizona) have been loosing weight even though I have been craving sugar from around noon until I fall asleep at night.
Avatar f tn You need to get a diabetes kit, take your blood sugar 2 times a day 2hrs after dinner (number should b below120)and first thing in the morning (should be below 90) stay away from fruit juices and things with high sugar.
Avatar f tn I have a clear blue fertility kit. You can get it on amazon for a good price.
Avatar m tn To reduce your ha1c, you need to avoid foods that raise your blood sugar. in particular this would mean avoiding refined carbohydrates. The best way to see the effects of food on your sugar levels is to test using a home test kit 2 hours after eating. If your levels are really high medications like metformin may also help. However, if your levels are really high you should be working with a doctor to optimise your levels.
Avatar f tn GP has not done blood testing had many blood rtests in May for the anklyosing spondilities but he is not bothered with that, he is more interested in the blood pressure readings, tody all l do is sleep and throat is so achy
Avatar n tn Glucagon is injected, and it causes the liver to release emergency stores of sugar. It will only work if the liver HAS emergency stores of sugar, and then will not work again until the liver replenishes the sugar. So it is not a substitute for drinking juice or eating some carbohydrates, but is used to help the severely hypoglycemic person until he or she can eat or drink something. Good luck with your report!
Avatar n tn It makes a BIG difference when you test your blood sugar [glucose]. Not knowing your country of residence, the following are testing times with US measurement units. The UK and other countries, like Canada, require conversion from mg/dl to mmol/l. ● Fasting - first thing in morning before eating or drinking anything except water.
Avatar f tn my sister does the same thing when she dont eat right or misses a meal, her sugar drops out and shes shakey.weak feels like she can pass out. you need to get a kit to check your sugar when you feel that way and you will know if its that. find some one who has dietbittes(sp), they most time have two-three test machines see if you can use one a few weeks try it when you get that way and you will know.
519736 tn?1253986826 Blood sugar and glucose in a round about way are synonymous. Blood sugar is used more often than glucose for the simple reason this is what is heard or read most often when diabetes is mentioned. Insulin is produced by your pancreas to allow glucose from your blood to be absorbed by cells in your liver, muscles and fat to be used for your bodies energy needs. It does more but I won't get into that. A thyroid disorder will affect your blood sugar levels too.
Avatar m tn Are you concerned about the upward trend in your readings? If so, assuming that you did the testing with a "home" blood glucose meter, and that you tested at the same time each day, your readings are well within the accuracy range of the meter.
Avatar m tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/type-2-diabetes/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20351199 I'd consider a full work up checking sugar and cholesterol both.
Avatar n tn Get in with a good endocrinologist. And buy a blood sugar kit. Check your sugar regularly.
Avatar f tn I now have been having the constant urge to hydrate, no matter how much water or kool aid I drink it's never enough. The sensation of feeling thirsty is very strong, it almost hurts. It has been occurring on and off since 3am this morning. I've had no pop at all. Been urinating near clear all day. So I know I'm plenty hydrated. Please give me advice. Should I see a doctor? Could it be high/low blood sugar? A glucose issue? I have no idea...
