1448460 tn?1284694467 Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.
Avatar m tn It seems unlikely that glatiramer acetate (Copaxone) would be the cause of the blood sugar rise as this is a new observation after a couple of months of use. Usually side effects are there from the start and get better. And this medication does have the mildest side effect profile that I know of. Have you spoken to your GP or endocrinologist about this? Perhaps it's unrelated to your MS medication and strictly related to needing to reevaluate your diabetes medication.
Avatar n tn t matter what I eat, 4, 3, even sometimes just 2 hours later, my blood sugar has been falling to symptomatic levels, even if the prior meal is solid with proteins, carbs, etc. Plus, if that isn't enough, for the same amount of time, even when my blood sugar registers as normal (I do have a home meter), I am constantly feeling sickly... hard to explain, but I seem to have ..
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
1947337 tn?1331423890 I slept til almost 3 and i had to just force myself to get up and unlock the door for my son. All i could think of was to check my blood sugar (i have a maachine from yrs ago when i had gest diab but have never had any other prob that i know of. Anyway, it was 56 which i think is low so i ate a couple of spoonsful of pb and drank a dr pepper. Waited 45 min and checked it again, it went up to 72. 5967969 tn?1377547630 Well I have had a lot of blood sugar issues after having gestational diabetes in 2005. I have tried weight watchers and different ones and it starts messing with blood sugar levels and then I get scared and its been off and on since 2005 and been to several drs and had several tests and still nothing. I am getting so depressed because of it and I was going to go to mayo clinic but can't afford to go.
Avatar f tn Have him/her run basic labs, i.e. blood sugar. Are you still eating less than 1000/day? In any case, something is not correct/right. Labs to check: CBC with/diff CMP Iron/Ferritin Thyroid Panel Are there any medical conditions that run in your family, i.e. Diabetes?
Avatar f tn i had low blood sugar issues a few months ago. right after i ate i would feel like it dropped and have hunger pains. i was so upset over it and kept eating almonds. right now its gone but it will probably be back since this is a strange ride of symptoms.
Avatar f tn M 29 weeks pregnant with my 2nd. My fasting blood sugar came as 103, and my doctor has put me on gestational diabetes diet. Other day I was talking to a friend who had gestational diabetes(GDM),she said range for pregnant women is till 110. The time from when I have started GDM diet,I feel really low on energy. Any of you on GDM diet facing such issues? I have to get rechecked in a few days,so m strictly following the diet with absolutely no sugar and really low carbs...
Avatar n tn I am very new to this, so please bear with me.
Avatar m tn My doc gave me this whole lecture about my weight and how hard it is for the heart to pump blood through blood vessels that are being squeezed, but I've actually lost 20 pounds since I last visited my doc and my symptoms seemed to have gotten a little worse. My BP has calmed down somewhat after I had my thyroid removed (papillary cancer), but I still feel like my body is reacting to something that my mind doesn't even know about.
Avatar n tn apart from diabetes what else can cause your blood sugar levels to go really low
Avatar f tn We're not sure because he doesn't have glucometer.

Avatar f tn But this morning I got really lightheaded and a headache all of a sudden(which I know is normal in pregnancy) but I checked my blood pressure again to see if that was it, and it was perfect. So I checked my blood sugar and it was 79, I had just had a fruit smoothie. The medical assistant at work told me it was low, and then another told me it was slightly low. My question is does anyone know what it should be? I go to the Dr tomorrow so I will ask him, but I'm just curious.

Avatar f tn Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. I'm type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.
Avatar n tn Is 130 high for blood sugar?
