I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
There are many reasons that blood sugar could be high and stress is one of them. Also certain medications and supplements such as niacin and steroids can raise your blood sugar. I'm not in the medical field; this is information I've learned in doing my own research. I was just the opposite of you; my fasting glucose was normal, but my A1c indicated pre-diabetes. I managed to bring my A1c down to a normal level by watching my carb intake. I wish I could give you more information.
Yes I was thinking low blood pressure or perhaps low blood sugar. It could also be an ear /balance problem. Try to eat regularly with some protein with each meal ( maybe smaller meals about 6 times a day with protein). Protein stabilizes the blood sugar if it is low. If it isn't a blood sugar problem you could try takikng benedryl at night and see if this dries up an inner ear problem. It could turn out to be neurological.
After that now the fasting blood sugar is somewhat OK. but the random blood sugar level still goes around 200 occasionally. The worse thing is now once in a week or two, her blood sugar level drops to around 50. When such a drop happens, she feels fainted and lot of sweat comes out. Today when we checked the sugar level it was 44 and then she took some sweets. As I know such a huge drop is not good at all. Isn't it ?
What could be the reason for this ?
At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this?
What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.
After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet,exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference.
I m really worried.
Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
