Avatar f tn The home monitoring prick testing kits only will show the sugar levels in the blood at the time that you do the test. The HbA1C blood test shows the percentage of sugar levels in your blood system over a period of 9-12 weeks. The glucose sticks to the red corpuscles and they are renewed every 9-12 weeks. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn His blood sugars are NOT fine. A fasting level of 121 mg/dl is prediabetes.
Avatar f tn Went to my Dr today nd my blood pressure is still high its been coming out high since I was three months..He said if it keeps up I could go into birth earlier than what I'm suppose to im six months, is there anything I could do so it won't be so high.
Avatar n tn Possible diet modifications include replacing simple carbohydrates (eg, soda, candy, white bread, white rice) with foods having a lower glycemic index, and limiting consumption of carbohydrates overall. The glycemic index is a measure of how much a food affects blood sugar levels. Type 2 diabetes generally results from insulin resistance (may be genetically and environmentally influenced) and the inability of the body to produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugar.
Avatar f tn At 72, I've never had any doctor address anything regarding an elevated blood sugar level from bloodwork done every 6 months! Had bloodwork done 2 weeks ago, my blood sugar level is 133...how do I deal with this? What has caused this? Doctor is concerned, not frantic about this today, but I am alarmed.
Avatar m tn 8% A1c result implies your glucose [blood sugar] is not borderline as you think. Using the eAG [estimated Average Glucose] formula to convert the A1c to an daily glucose average equates to 148.46 mg/dl, well into diabetes land. And, having postprandial [after meal 2-3 hrs] readings over 400 mg/dl is dangerous.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
Avatar f tn I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet, exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference. I m really worried.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
1773108 tn?1314158067 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+.
180395 tn?1287493997 Yes, you need some ready sugar / candy when you do have low blood sugar, but complex carbs at other meals to help keep things steady. Small snacks between meals may also help.
Avatar f tn Most fruits are high in sugar, some more so than others. Even though the sugar in fruit is "natural", it still spikes your blood sugar, which causes the pancreas to pump out more insulin. If this happens regularly, your body may become resistant to insulin, which could lead to type II diabetes. It's best to limit fruit to 1-2 servings/day and try to stick with things like berries, apples, pears, which are chock full of fiber.

1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
Tbd t feel any symptoms of high blood sugar until they have had high blood sugar for quite a long time, and then they go to the doctor because of bothersome complications. If that is the stage they are diagnosed at their hba1c can be very high. 10 - 12 or even higher. It is much better to have regular monitoring, annual would be recommended, so you can observe your hba1c over time and catch any development of diabetes early.
