Avatar m tn Have you been monitoring your blood sugars (while on byetta)? What is your fasting and post-eating blood sugars. What was your Hba1c when you started this med? Have you done any other relevant testing? If so, please also post results.
Avatar f tn It is an injection with the tiniest needle you will ever see, taken 30-60 min prior to breakfast and dinner. It helps with blood sugar and takes away your appetite by making you feel full. There are also two newer products. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I would really like some help with this. Byetta has been wonderful so far, and I've lost 30 lbs, yay! But now I've developed insomnia - terrible, only 3 hours of sleep a night insomnia, which has never bothered me before. If I skip my second Byetta shot for the day, I can usually get a full night's sleep. So that's certainly a clue that I may not be able to take the full two doses of Byetta a day.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
Avatar m tn whom I seldom get to see is not much help , he even at times to order my blood work. My fasting blood sugar when i check it at home is 170 in the morning before i eat.
Avatar n tn Hmm, sorry but I guess I do not understand. Your post says that the discussion is related to "fasting blood sugar levels high in the morning" but all of your information relates to testing blood after meals. Guess that for me it cannot be both. My Diabetes Nurse's instructions for morning fasting blood test are to test the blood "when you awake, before eating or any medication".

Avatar n tn ve lost over 60 lbs), get my blood sugar under control (my last 2 AICs were normal), and get medically ready to have a child. Last week he told us he feels comfortable with my heath for my husband and I to try to get pregnant. Because of my PCOS I only have one ovary he feels I can ovulate through and so he's prescribed Clomid. I've been told there's a slight increase in the possibilty with twins on Clomid.
489891 tn?1209058786 all the people who had it done were no longer diabetic. They were still heavy right after surgery of course but the high sugar was gone. Really amazing. Gastric bypass I think it is called. You should look into that immediately. The weight will fall off and your diabetes will go way. Talk to your doctor about seeing someone for this procedure, you sound like a great candidate for it. Check out 60 minutes website and maybe you will get more info.
Avatar n tn I just had a oral glucose tolerance test. My fasting results were like 108. I took the glucose and then came back every hour (five times) for a blood test. The second and third hour the lab tech asked (twice) if I had taken the glucose 'cuse there was no change in my blood sugar levels at all. It was about the third or forth hour and my blood sugar suddenly was at low 70's for the last hour or two. I felt sick as a dog when my blood sugar tanked down to the 70's.
Avatar m tn I am hypothyroid , with extreme fatigue and sleepiness i sleep for 15 hours a day , My thyroid function is perfect according to the blood results , i have been hypothyroid for 4 years . My fasting and post prandial blood sugar is normal , hb1ac 5.6 , howeever my fasting insuling is bit elevated but post prandial insulin level is skyrocket , it is 190 while top range for post prandial in the test is 20 . Avatar f tn I did some reserch on line and found there are all kinds of side effects, damage to the kidneys, liver and G.I. issues. For the last year I have had IBS and now my blood sugar is climbing, (only my fasting). Needless to say I have quit taking the injections because I'm afraid it has caused these changes. Has anyone else had these sort of problems? I'm going to see my Dr. in a few weeks and I want to be better informed.
178107 tn?1315947630 Has anyone used Byetta? I started taking it four weeks ago and it has done wonders on controling my blood sugars and I have also lost 16 pounds. My doctor told me that it may help me to drop a few pounds, but I never thought it could help that much. I admit it does make you nausious, but I can take that for the weight loss.

Avatar m tn Besides Victoza there are two other injectable medications which are not insulin.Only your doctor should recommend medications not strangers on an Internet forum. Talk with him/her to see what medication is best suited to your needs.
Avatar n tn I used Byetta for a long time and I am not an expert or medical person. You are best to get the information from your doctor. Before I started using Byetta, I had to take classes from a nurse on how I had to inject Byetta into my stomach. It was prescribed by my Doctor. Byetta has side effects reported by some people but I had no problems with it other than the expense. It does give you a feeling of fullness and it has a nickname (Spit).
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation.
Avatar n tn I had mentioned to a friend with a diabetic son that after I exercise(run) in the morning my blood sugar will sometimes shoot up 100-150 points and this is after a reading of 120-150 prior to running on my treadmill. I then have readings that are 200-250 and I get very frustrated! I am a type I diabetic for 26 years. I thought this was strange seeing that I had not eaten anything to make my blood sugar climb so high.
Avatar f tn I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet, exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference. I m really worried.
Avatar f tn Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. My sugar keeps going up and down, my doctor won't put me on medicine(the highest its been is 400+, the lowest 60) Thanks for your help!!!
Avatar f tn All these things greatly influence blood sugar. If you have been unable to get your blood sugar stable at all, these are things you need to work on. I hope your husband gets better soon.
