Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
1448460 tn?1284694467 Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.
Avatar m tn Now, a lower insulin level will result in an overabundance sugar circulating in your blood stream. Sugar is a rather heavy molecule, so it can cause damage to your kidney and also many other organs that the blood feeds into. Diabetic will often secretes the excess sugar through their urine....but eventually it will wreak havoc in the body.
Avatar m tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/a1c-test/about/pac-20384643. You need to have the score two times in order for it to be meaningful. So, they will test you again. 8 is too high though. It would mean your sugar level is not controlled and puts you at greater risk for diabetic related complications. Have you been diagnosed with pre diabetes or type 1 or 2 as of yet? I'm just trying to find out more related to this particular test. Your level should be below 5.7.
Avatar f tn t say in your post, Katie, is what your blood sugar readings are. The way to avoid complications is to keep your blood sugar below 140 as much of the time as possible. You are right that eating junk food will raise your blood sugar and having it high for a period of time can lead to complications.
Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
577285 tn?1706032371 Blood Sugar Tracker for us diabetic's out there please. It would be an invaluable tool for us to track this VITAL READING. Not only could it be based on those little log books that we all gotta carry around getting all dog eared and full of blood stains as well as getting more expensive to buy , but we could easily make a copy and bring the professional looking and easy to read Chart / Tracker to our Doctors.
Avatar n tn Roller coaster blood sugar swings can and do make you feel weird. Ideally, you want your sugar to be on a more even keel. You did not mention if you are on medication for your diabetes, or insulin or just diet control. You really have to watch those carbs, they will raise your blood sugar pretty quickly. Speak with a nutritionist and/or diabetes consultant to get a good idea of a healthy diet to follow.
Avatar f tn Im concerned bc my midwife keeps telling me tocut out fruit juices and high sugar fruits. I dont have gd but she keeps warning me of the issues related bc my bmi was higher before I got pregnant. Im 31wks now and have gained 30lbs. Many people have said thats normal but this midwife isnt very reassuring. Any thoughts? (Im inquiring about changing mw, for other reasons as well.
Avatar m tn Actually, if you want to have 'excellent' blood sugar control that is as close to normal as possibel 142 is not acceptable. Considering that people without diabetes will rarely have readings higher than 100 ever. To avoid complications the best plan is to keep blood sugars as close to truely normal as possible. This will prevent complications. Your 142 is a wakeup call.
Avatar n tn I think my fear of potential diabetic complications is strong enough that it overrides any discomfort or inconvenience caused by testing my blood sugar. I actually test around 10 times a day and I don't mind it at all. The finger pricking really doesn't hurt barely at all since I'm so used to it, so that's a non issue, and it takes so quick to do that it isn't that much trouble. Definitely worth it to avoid complications. Basically, I use fear as a motivator.
Avatar m tn I have hi blood sugar since 2002, my sugar leavel always found 240mg +, I take insuline 3 time in a day, but after that sugar level not down below 240. if i stop to take insuline and found sugar 500 +, what can i do?
Avatar f tn If you continue with blood sugars this high your body is going to fail and you will have major complications which will lead to death.
Avatar m tn Thanks for ur response Is it very high sugar or can control with with out medicines?
Avatar n tn My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.
Avatar f tn I'm 28 weeks and 5 days pregnant and my blood sugar after eating dinner (30 minutes or so) was 79. Should i be concerned?
Avatar n tn I am diabetic and I have been running 220 on my blood sugar on a regular basis even when I test it in the morning without any food. When my sugar drops to 150, I get really tired, weird feeling in my legs and nauseas. For someone like me who constantly has a high blood sugar is 150 considered low? Also can high blood sugar be related in any way to weight loss?
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar f tn This is my third pregnancy and I have never had a problem with sugar til now. Concerned about even doing my glucose test because of how sick and shakey I get from even the slightest bit of sugar. My husband is scared and so am I that something could go wrong. Has anyone had anybad reactions to the test? I was fine the fist two times just never reacted like this to any form of sugar, I was always fine just a little nauseated from it.
Avatar f tn t explain things to you such as how the prednisone influences the blood sugar and what you should be doing to treatyour diabetes, you may need to see an endo. Also, if you want, send me a private message and I will give you the name of a couple websites where there are a lot of diabetics and I'm sure someone will be able to explain the role of prednisone.

Avatar n tn My 3 year old was diagnosed w/ Type 1 diabetes about 9 monthes ago. I am very worried about the long term complications of (& low)high blood suger. His readings are usually over 300 in the afternoon. We have tried several different insulin combos (Lantus, novalog, novalin). It's a constant battle to get him to eat the right things at the right times. He has woke up in the morning w/ seizures a few times due to low blood sugar & is almost always on the low side in the morning.
