The he tested me for dengue igg and igm which were weakly positive.. But he said it cant be a dengue coz it was not the time of dengue.. Then he tested me for typhoid which was also weakly positive..I myself went for a p24 antigen test on 27th or 28th day from exposure which came neqative.. But I was suffering from the low grade fever and bodyaches..
Avatar n tn I had a sudden onset of high fever one night and my skin turned red all over. A day Iater saw a doc and we took a dengue test and a blood count test to see if my platelets were low. The following day the dengue test came back neg ( but the doc said that is to be expected since it was early on in the sickness) he did notice that my WBC count was low and my platelets were in the low range too - so he concluded dengue. My doc then became suspicious of my pneumonia.
Avatar f tn It is one of the most basic blood tests. It should test your iron levels and not just your red blood cell count. Size matters to determine anemia. So, it will count your blood cells, and it will determine cholesterol levels and iron, and your basic vitamin panels. Be sure they include your vitamin D levels.

Avatar m tn In september 2017 I had dengue fever(almost 103 °F for 2 days then decreased gradually to 99 °F on day 7th and then then became normal) and hospitalised for 10 days, blood platelets increased (from 37k to 2 lac 27k per mm3). After that dengue I was experiencing little cough and nasal congestion and patches on tongue that comes and goes. Went to doctor again x ray, ct scan in search of tb. Doc said all ok gave allot of antibiotics for cold thinking of bacterial infection .
Avatar f tn whether it is due to less production at the bone marrow or high breakdown or due to platelets being trapped in the spleen. The treatment will depend on the cause. Common causes are Vit B12 and folic acid deficiency, leukemias, lymphomas, decreased production of thrombopoietin by liver, Dengue fever, HIV, hemolytic anemias, etc. Blood transfusions and plasma exchange are the prescribed treatments. Immunoglobulins are given through veins for a rapid increase in platelets counts.
3141458 tn?1342928780 My son is 4 yrs old. Recently he had some blood work showing 77% lymphocytes and 19% neutrophils. His coagulation test came back >300 and mpv was 7.1 a blood smear was done finding 1% smudge cells. he has an appt with hematology in a few wks but I am concerned that it is not soon enough. Any thoughts on a possible reason for these results? Should I push for a sooner appt?
Avatar f tn Unexplained fever needs complete evaluation with blood tests like CBC which includesHemoglobin, neutrophils, platelets, hematocrit,ESR,Widal,Malaria,Dengue serology.Since you come from a community prone for such diseases in this season, take the person to a Doctor who can check her completely to see all possible infections. Avoid taking more Paracetamol since it not only causes side effects but also have little value if it is a infection. It controls only fever or mild pain.
Avatar n tn They can also result from autoimmune disorders, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, bone marrow disorders such as leukemia, inflammation of the veins, as a side effect of certain medications, viral infections, such as EBV or Dengue and septicemia or infection in blood. A complete blood count, urine examination and a blood culture may be required to reach a diagnosis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Alkaline Phosphatase High, Thrombocytopenia, and high AST/SGOT. Also low platelets. What does this mean?
Avatar m tn Since platelets are low, there is a possibility of Dengue fever. Dengue hemorrhagic fever along with cirrhosis of liver is usually seen in hepato-cellular carcinoma. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining her. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar m tn Since hepatitis means inflammation of the liver and dengue fever can cause all kinds of havoc in the body and death, I am not surprised. In Jakarta, where I used to live, there usually are bigger outbreaks around ever 5 years. The hospitals are so crowded that patients have to lie in the corridors etc. Many ppl die, because they are admitted too late. Just a few days before Christmas, when my son was still in Indonesia, he got sick and had all the symptoms.
Avatar n tn He was taken to the hospital because of dehydration caused by having Dengue for 6 days, at the hospital he was treated for Dengue only, but then he started shaking involuntarily for 2 days, the doctors started the search to find out the cause, all blood exams where made and nothing (there was a time one exam said that his calcium level was low, but then they repeat the blood test and apparently it was a lab mistake).
Avatar m tn 7 weeks ago my friend experienced a high fever, aching muscle joints, and a massive headache.
Avatar m tn Hello How high are your platelets. Platelets are responsible for clot formation in the blood vessels. Thrombocytosis or abnormally high platelets usually manifests as clots in the blood vessels which can cause areas of decreased oxygen in various organs of the body. This can result in pain in these areas. It would be unusual for this to cause joint pain. The treatment for elevated platelet is to be on an agent like aspirin to prevent excessive clotting.
Avatar f tn my friends to rule any issue got me tested for Dengue. My worry is that the nurse who came home and took my blood sample.
