Blood in mucus sore throat

Common Questions and Answers about Blood in mucus sore throat

blood

The past few days I have had a taste of blood in the back of my throat. Now when I try to clear that feeling of having mucus in my throat I bring up a ball of dark blood, to which my throat becomes sorer after doing that. When I clear my throat after that I noticed a little bit of bright red blood along with small amount of mucas with it. I have not had a bloody nose and when I blow my nose now everything comes out clear. Can you please tell me what your take on this is?
The reason I was being persistent at coughing up mucus was because I felt like there was a bit of mucus in the back of my throat that was being stubborn. I could feel it hanging there and it was on the left side. I tried coughing up mucus as hard as I could even to the point where my gag reflex was making me nearly throw up. Then suddenly the mysterious red glob came flying out projectile style and I caught it on my hand.
If it's just flecks of blood it could be that your sinuses are irritated and/or very dry, Blowing your nose too hard can rupture the tiny blood vessels in your nose, drips down your throat and it gets coughed up with the stagnant mucus in the morning. Try a humidifier in your bedroom if your climate is dry, or use Ocean Spray during the day, wait a few minutes then blow your nose gently. If you're coughing up more than a half cup of blood see your doctor asap.
About 3 days ago I got a real bad sore throat and its getting better, but for the last two days I wake up and I cough once and my mucus is thick with blood in it. It only happens in the morning and then i am fine the rest of the day. I am a smoker and about 3 years ago I had an infected lung.... which was easily fixed with antibiotics.... what can be causing this? I have no other signs of a cold and i am getting regular headache but i have had that my whole life ...
But this morning when i spitted the mucus out, i noticed it contains blood. Yesterday, my throat felt sore, but this morning it has relieved. I have been going to my doctor about my problem of spitting mucus every 20 minutes especially after eating but after taking injection and the drugs he gives me, the problem never ease. I have lot hope about the curing my spitting mucus a lot. Do you know what my problem may be? Thanks.
i have recently developed a sore throat and began hacking up really thick green mucus with blood in it. The blood has lessened since the beginning of the illness. Now i just started coughing last night and i cough up really green thick mucus and my lungs have a very slight constant burn to them maybe because of the violent nature of my cough. and when i inhale deep i cough involuntarily. does anyone know what i have? if you dont know does it sound serious?
Just over Three weeks ago I came down with a really sore throat, and darkish green nasal discharge along with it and for two mornings there was blood in it when I blew my nose... A week after my sore throat started, a common cold finally hit me.. Three days into my cold, I started feeling really exhausted, and its hard for me to describe, or put my finger on exactly what im feeling.. but it was a mix between fatigue, light headedness, dazed, lack of concentration, slight loss of balance..
3 days later head and ear pressure, spitting out clear mucus with black stringy things (old blood?) went to Urgent Care, fluid in ear and red throat (not sore) lungs sounded good, no sinus pain or fever. Diagnosed with sinus infection. Week later chest pain is better, now spitting out pink and very small amount of red blood. No cough, just snorting from my nose and clearing my throat when I spit.
bad sore throat for a month..with dry cough difficulty swallowing. doctors have taken test and blood everythings normal but constant throat pain..ughh! frusterating! any recommendations?
Hi im a 17 yr. old female who has a sore throat for about 2 weeks. No runny nose or anything but recently I've been having these coughs and just a little while ago I sneezed and I spat out some mucus with blood. Im really really worried and would like to know what is wrong.
Earlier this week I started having a terrible stuffed up nose.. Worse than I've had in quite a while. Next came a sore throat. No fever all week but constant nose and throat pain. I think a week ago I wiped a couple times and there was a mucus blood type thing but that has been it. I normally start the 2nd-7th of the month. I have been peeing so much (but I also drink a lot of water) I also get bad acne before a period and my face has been clearer than normal.
Clearing your throat can irritate your throat and make it sore. When you feel the need to clear your throat sip some water to clear the mucus. An antihistamine can dry up the postnasal drip. However, it may make the mucus thicker and more difficult to move.
I am a 36 year old, non-smoking male in good health (according to checkup 1 year ago) 6 days ago I experienced sudden pain in my throat while swallowing (drinking a glass of tea). The next morning I was very hoarse. My throat hurt for 2 days, but then stopped. However, my voice is still extremely raspy. I went to the doctor on day 4 and he diagnosed bronchitis and prescribed antibiotics. Since then I've experienced shortness of breath and am still hoarse.
b) The gravity will let the mucus/phlegm in your throat to fall in your mouth. You will feel it falling inside your mouth and when you do, please do not stop because there are usually a lot more coming up. So continue and each treatment should be at least 3 good gargles. You can do that as often as you like until the mucus/phlegm is completely removed. You can end your session by sucking on honey or drops to soothe your throat.
If you are forcefully clearing your throat over and over you could have torn it in some way thus producing the blood. In any event you should call your GP to get some tests done.
I was on 30 GEN-Amoxicillin (500mg)for 10 days and where the blood ceased. Once I finished the medication the blood in the mucus returned. My mouth every morning is dry and when I clear my throat the mucus comes up followed by blood. Now is January caught a cold, same pattern mucus & blood the only thing different today rather this evening is I brought up mucus followed by blood, the reason I say different is because the blood would only occur in the morning.
I have been getting very light headed bunged up and tired, and today the green mucus had blood in it. I know it's probably all the nose blowing. Also I feel very like I will pass out and have had reoccuring sore throats. Does anyone else suffer from this and is blood normal?
On friday the 7th i played some serious basketball and felt fine afterwards. To my surprise i awoke the next morning with a sore throat, green mucus with traces of blood in it and i had gooey grey eye crust in the corners of my eye and on my eyelids. The sore throat was literally like ive never felt before. It hurt to speak and even to swallow my own saliva.the first few days i tried drinking tea with hone but the only thing that made it feel any better was icy cold fluids.
I have a very intense sore throat. Here are my details: Very sore throat I cough sometimes but ONLY because of the scratchiness in my throat I do not have a runny nose I do not sneeze I was coughing up bloody mucus the first couple days of being sick Sometimes in the day I just feel really like **** with no energy But sometimes I feel "ok" It all started on tuesday night online. Could it be allergies? Everything I hear about allergies tho are itchy throat not sore throat - sometimes it hurts to bad I don't even want to swallow. It gets worse mid-afternoon and evening. I've gotten my air vents cleaned today to see if that will help for allergies and I picked up Zyrtec to try that as well..... Any suggestions on what it could be or should I just suck it up and go back to the clinic???!!!! Thanks!

I have noticed though that from time to time it is brownish or appears to have blood in it. After this last bout I was given antibiotics which have gotten rid of the yellow junk problem, but this morning when I had my usual cough, blood came up, bright red and fresh. I am concerned I may have some sort of nasal cancer as I am a recently quit (social) smoker of 20yrs. Is this something to worry about?
The next day I coughed up a large chunk of dark red blood and didn't seemed too alarmed about it b/c they had told me that my throat may be sore and i just assumed that it was from having the tube ran down my throat. Day 3 now and I am still finding small amounts of blood in my mucus when I cough it up and I do feel "a little" short of breath but not much. I am a past smoker. Is this a cause for concern or is it normal?
I am 38. When I was a young child, I developed pnuemonia. As a result, a had a HORSE COUGH. It was very rough and quite an ugly tone. That then became part of my laugh. That HORSE LAUGH went away in adult hood. I quit smoking at age 32 when I got pregnant. When I smoked I would "HACK" up a lot of mucus. I had to work at it. It was 3 to 5 times a day. I am sorry for the LOVELY picture I just painted of myself! Yuck. I thought that would go away when I quit smoking.
I've had some allergies in my throat with a bit of mucus. The guy claims to be negative and it was in a bathroom at a bar, so not enough time for a full on session. Would this have increased the risk due to inflammation in my throat? I woke up this morning with a bit lip. I think I bit it as I was eating food last night, but I can't recall. If I had bitten it before I had performed oral and rimming, would that increase the risk from blood? Thanks for your help again.
