They will just schedule you for the 3hr test. If you fail that then they will put you on a special diet and monitor your glucose levels.

Where about are you? In Australia you can have a blood test if you can't tolerate the fasting. I did it with my first pregnancy and passed out in the waiting room and was low risk anyway. This time OB happy for a blood test only. I'd do it again if I had risk factors but it's pretty cruel for women with morning sickness and low blood sugar levels in my opinion.

Had about 10 viles of blood taken which I gather is normal the first time. They also had be do an hour blood glucose test done which I thought was done later in pregnancy. I had lunch at 12 including two yummy cookies and drank the glucose drink at 3 and had my blood drawn at 4. I get a call the next day because my levels were a little high @ 146. So I'm going to get another 3 hour test done on monday, should I be concerned or worried about gestational diabetes? help...im nervious about this...

Im 30 weeks pregnant and I failed my first 1hr glucose test, my levels were just a tad high than where they should be. So now im worried about the 3hr glucose I have to take but most women ive talked to said they passed their 3hr test. Is anyone going through something similar?

You should be fine.. My mom failed her 1 hour glucose test everytime she had it.. And she never had gestational diabetes.. My aunt had gest. diabetes and her and baby were absolutly fine and healthy.. she just had to take insulin shots like a diabetic person while she was pregnant.. Dont be worried he will be fine!

Must be a bit different here because they do the glucose one at 26-28wks, but you can have the blood test and scan for downs at 10-12wks if you choose to do it, in Australia.

This test its normal with almost all pregnancies. They do it around the 5 month mark to make sure. Nothing to worry about.

I was never given a five minute time limit. I was always given the half hour limit. I've always drank it fast though. I would rather just get it down as quick as possible instead of having to keep taste it.
