Avatar m tn Greetings, I have ordered an HIV rapid test kit. I understand these home rapid test kits has the HIV antigen embedded in the capture pad, which then will react if an HIV antibody was found in the blood sample. When I pricked my finger, I coudn't get enough blood in so I kind of touched the capture/sample pad a little bit. I'm afraid of HIV exposure after learning that the pad contains the HIV antigen.
Avatar m tn and how does the AFA here in singapore conclude that a 3 months post exposure test is conclusive if they are using the above test kit which cannot able to detect HIV-1 subtypes H,J,K? Can you pls give me some inputs on this issue.. You can confirm this fact on its product catalogue.

Avatar f tn I am a 29 year old female, my possible exposure was over 18 months ago, i recently tested myself using a home self testing kit called EZ Trust Rapid HIV Test Kit (manufacturer is CS Innovations Singapore, product commonly sold by Labpro and Nexus Laboratories). I live in Sydney Australia so i do not have access to the FDA approved Home Access.
Avatar m tn Man i live here i know there is huge difference in health diagnostic equipment things here are of poor quality standard. For example i was tested with intec hiv 1&2 test kit and this kit is not even approved in china where it is manufactured.
Avatar m tn Also l bought a Dus 10 urine strp home test kit . If the result is the colour blue its normal, green means some glucose and brown colour means a high level, When l wake up in the morning l got a green or light green, but during the day l took two tests and got normal blue. Could meals or food affect the result.
Avatar m tn line at T area. hardly visible. (Home Test). facts is that ACON Rapid test kit is not approved in USA. Heard about it.. 2month after Results are Test Value: 0.022 ; Cut off Value: 0.300 ; Test Result: Negative My few Questions: 1) What result I need to consider as a final result. 2) Why this ACON test kit showed me a very very faint line. 3) Do u have any info regardin this ACON test kit are they approved by FDA etc.
Avatar f tn Hi, i had an exposure in 2008 and i have now plucked up enough courage to learn of my status. I have come across an HIV testing kit online (from singapore) i would like to know are they accurate? or would it be a waste of my money? I have an extreme needle phobia so testing using a blood sample from a syringe or lancet would be out of the question. The test that i am interested in buying uses urine to detect HIV, just wondering whether you guys that are in the know about this could advise me.
Avatar m tn If your recent contact was protected and there was no other exposure between this contact and your last HIV test, you are safe. Your blood picture is healthy, (however such results do not tell about HIV infections accurately and one has to go for a separate qualitative HIV test for that purpose). In case, your recent contact was unprotected or protection failed one, then you need to retest (4th generation Duo test) after 4 weeks of the exposure to rule out the infection conclusively.
Avatar m tn No need to worry, you are mostly alright but I am questioning the professionalism of the doc who did the test for you. Because here in Singapore, whenever anyone does the rapid test, they are shown their kit to confirm their results and clear any doubts they have. It would be better for you to actually redo the test at another place, hope this clears your doubts and worries. Cheers!
194838 tn?1303428544 Hi, Im still pretty new to Diabetes though I have posted before about my medications. My doctor has told me that my fasting blood test was 10, is this very high ? I do not test my own blood but am sent to the hospital for fairly regular tests but notice that when people post with their blood glucose levels they are in the 100s.
Avatar f tn A week later the surgeon repeated the tests to prepare me for surgery. The glucose level was 86 which was normal since the range used was 65-99. Three days ago my blood was drawn an hour or less after eating. The results once again read the glucose level of 115 which was high since the range used was 65-99. No one in my family has diabetes. I will see my pcp in a few days. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn I have done another rapid test on 12 weeks with Icare test kit (manufactured by JAL Singapore). The result was negative. I will conduct another lab test to conclude.
Avatar m tn Are you concerned about the upward trend in your readings? If so, assuming that you did the testing with a "home" blood glucose meter, and that you tested at the same time each day, your readings are well within the accuracy range of the meter.
Avatar m tn When would you advise me to use the second test kit? I will test again at 3 months regardless for a definitive result, but I would love to have some result sooner than that. I will also test for other STI's at 3 months, but they don't seem very important right now. Thankyou so much for your efforts. In a sea of mis-information, this website was a wonderful thing to find. Your tolerance and willingness to help people is remarkable - I really appreciate what you do. Monty.
519736 tn?1253986826 The black coffee 8-12 hours prior to a blood sugar test will skewer test results. That was a no-no. If your Endo was not told about the "black coffee" he/she is going by your test result and why you were informed of "becoming insulin resistant". As I said earlier, you may or may not be prediabetic. A follow up test is necessary. Before venturing on let's clarify some terms. Blood sugar and glucose in a round about way are synonymous.
267076 tn?1270674331 About a month ago I went to the ER with bad headaches. They did a blood test and I just found out that my glucose was 141. That seems high to me but they never said anything about it (I wasn't fasting). Is that diabetic range? Should I be concerned about having diabetes? It seems odd to me that a year ago it was in the 90's but a month ago it was 141. I had a complete blood work done last week (after fasting) so I'll see what it is when I get the results.
Avatar f tn I'm a little sad that I didn't pass my glucose test yesterday now I gotta go back for the 3 hour test I pray that I score in the passing levels come Monday...has anyone else had to take the test twice??
306245 tn?1244384967 The accepted ways of screening for diabetes are a fasting glucose, a random glucose(not as good) or a 2 hour glucose tolerance test. A HgB A1C is sometimes used by doctors but it is not widely accepted as a good screening measure, so I suggest a fasting or an OGTT. You should also have a thyroid screen(TSH) done. Fasting glucose is not perfect, so yes you can have a "false negative" in terms of saying you have no abnormalities in glucose handling.
