Avatar f tn my husband was 2yrs post liver transplant, that is the one reason why he is also now suffering from monitor blood sugar problem. my question now is about fluctition of his blood glucose, we have a kit monitoring it before and after meal, but there was time when we check it is high then after just a minute it drop down, we are really worried why is this happening? hoping that anyone could help!
Avatar n tn I reread your last post and I was somewhat off in my response. My question would be who is performing your father's glucose and blood pressure testing if he is unable to? Who then inputs the data so it can be uploaded to the "monitoring centre"? It does matter whether the doctor will accept this type of information from a third party. I know mine won't but every doctor is different and has different guidelines/policies.
Tbd Hi. So, a glucose meter using a finger tip prick or a continuous glucose monitor is best for checking blood sugar. Of course, that's after you are diagnosed with diabetes. Prior to that, blood work ordered by your doctor will reveal your sugar levels. https://diabetes.
222369 tn?1274474635 With the loss of 44 pounds, I too ended up with very low blood pressure and went to the doctor about it, he cut me back to 60 mg now and suggested that I take my blood pressure every day and monitor if the 60 mg is low enough or not. I do feel better now on the lower dose, but my blood pressure has been a little erratic but is still in the normal rang now as opposed to being too low.
Avatar f tn half year post liver transplant, my question now is about his bood sugar, we are trying to monitor it , we have the kit and test sugar before and after meal, but there was time that in just a minute sugar rises and and sometimes went very low. is this normal for or the kit have a problem?
5536886 tn?1455827346 How did you choose which blood glucose monitor to use? Are there certain features that make one better then the other?
Avatar n tn When I wake up my blood sugars are in the mid 50s. After breakfast they hover around 76 or 82. They rarely ever go above 86 ever. Once a day they may hit 115 if I eat bread ..stay there briefly to go back down to the 70s. I am not on a specialty diet nor do I do keto. I usually eat a lot of fruit and seafood. Once average my glucose monitor tells me my daily averages are around 75. What do you think I have? Am I in a pre-diabetic state and my panaceas is just pumping out insulin?
Avatar f tn Is blood glucose reading of 139 ok two hours after eating? I've just begun self-testing and I've had three readings of 88 (afternoon, no food), 89 (morning before eating or drinking), and 139 (two hours after eating). My mother's family has Type I diabetes (8 out of 11 total) and my father developed Type II before he died. I'm concerned because I have very high "highs" and very low "lows" complete with blurred vision, shaking, anxiety, and constant urination.
Avatar m tn I am controlling my diabetes now for two months without medication. I set up an excel document and print it off , you can fit two months worth of info on one sheet, it's so easy to show the doctor trends, I include how many calories I've eaten per meal. It's really helped me. I've lost 30 llbs in two months and have stayed off of medication.

Avatar m tn The lancet holder and blood glucose monitor were being used on many patients. Neither device was disinfected before or after being used on me. What is the risk of Hep-B in this situation? The CDC says that holders/monitors should be disinfected between uses because blood can transfer from the holder/monitor during the test.
Avatar f tn They will give u diet restrictions & have u monitor and chart ur blood sugar levels every day.
Tbd I just recently had a health screening and after fasting 12 hours my blood glucose was 111. Should i be overly concerned with that? Will they put me on meds or just monitor it. My history of blood glucose levels range over the last 4 years from 94 to the current 111.
180395 tn?1287493997 Once before breakfast and once before lunch. So I decided to buy a glucose monitor to check to see if maybe low blood sugar was the culprit. Well this morning before I bought it I came to work, had 2 donuts for breakfast (this isnt an everyday thing, someone just decided to be nice and bring some to work this morning) then I had 2 cups of coffee with creamer that contains sugar and on the way to work this morning I had a large cup of sweet tea.
212161 tn?1599427282 t, I would go in and have a fasting glucose and an A1C blood test. Easy to take and can tell you in a flash where you are at. Plus you can rule out any other issues if any.
452066 tn?1400626877 I feel quite dumb asking these questions. First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...
Avatar f tn I failed my glucose screen too! I just got the results from my 3 hour test today. Whew....passed. My understanding is that quite a few people (up to 25%) fail the initial glucose tolerance screen but very few fail the 3 hour test. I'm sure you'll pass too! Sorry but btw the 3 hour test is horrible, just sitting and waiting and 4 blood collections. BOO!
Avatar n tn I personally use the Accu-chek Softclix lancing device and find that it works well for me. I had to work with the settings to get the setting that gives me a good drop of blood without going too deep, though, and you will have to do the same. Any new system will take some adjustment. As for the Accu-chek Compact, I personnally don't know about that particular glucose monitor. However, I use the Accu-chek Advantage and am happy with it.
10374491 tn?1441916101 A blood sugar monitor only gives the blood sugar that is present in the blood at the time it is done. An HbA1C blood test gives the average blood glucose that is present in the blood over a period of 9-12 weeks. The glucose sticks to the red corpuscles and these are renewed every 9-12 weeks. The doctor is the best person to give advice whether to use a home blood glucose monitor. My doctor will not prescribe a home monitor for me because my HbA1C levels are well managed.
2169899 tn?1354674056 So I went to my appt this morning for the glucose test.and omce she pricked my finger to.check my sugar she.said it was high already so they didnt make me drink the stuff for the test, but now I have to go have a 3hr gtt study, so do yall think that means ill have gestational diabestes and my bp was high this is the 3rd visit with me blood pressure being high...
Avatar f tn It is also possible to have elevated blood sugar if you fast for a longer than usual period. It is good that your subsequent tests were ok. Anyway, use this as your motivation to stay healthy. Minimize sugar and processed foods, exercise. A regular check of blood sugars every once in a while (and certainly every 6 months) is a good practice so you can monitor yourself over time.
