Avatar n tn If you notice any symptoms like foggy vision or start to feel very thirsty, or go frequently to empty your bladder, and especially after eating too much sugary foods - or feel very sleeping after having a meal, make an appointment to see your doctor. He can send you for a glucose test, or send a blood sample to check your HbA1C levels. Other symptoms to watch for is if you get a headache or start to feel very nauseas when you feel hungry.

Avatar f tn They will take your blood before you drink the stuff, then an hour after that they will take some more blood, wait another hour-more blood, another hour-more blood....
Tbd This means that it is rapidly metabolized resulting in a rapid increase in blood glucose. This in turn leads to the rapid release of insulin which performs the role of "escorting" the glucose into your cells in order to produce ATP. Simply stated, ATP is what fuels our bodies. However, an individual with type 2 diabetes mellitus does not produce sufficient insulin or is not capable of utilizing endogenous insulin in order to facilitate the transport of glucose into the cells.
Avatar f tn I have GD and its not bad as long as you can monitor your food in take and sugar in take. If you monitor your diet they wont put you on medicine at first its very hard to monitor it with everything your so use to eating. I cut out ALL of my soda drinking and replaced it with water. That helped a WHOLE lot. You would be surprised how much it changes. I take my sugar 4 times a day! Its aggravating but its not that bad.
Avatar f tn In the room my dr said not to eat after 2 hours before the app and only water if I wanna drink . He said he recommended it cause some people come in with only that in their system so they fail it . But when the lady at the front desk went over the instructions she said I can eat a regular breakfast and all that I just can't eat or drink after I take it till my app is over..

Tbd Hi. So, a glucose meter using a finger tip prick or a continuous glucose monitor is best for checking blood sugar. Of course, that's after you are diagnosed with diabetes. Prior to that, blood work ordered by your doctor will reveal your sugar levels. https://diabetes.

Avatar n tn I'm 29 weeks, and just failed my glucose test. According to my sono the baby is almost 4lbs already. Is that high? And what is the likely hood that I have gestational diabetes? If it turns out that I do have it how will they treat it?
Avatar n tn When I wake up my blood sugars are in the mid 50s. After breakfast they hover around 76 or 82. They rarely ever go above 86 ever. Once a day they may hit 115 if I eat bread ..stay there briefly to go back down to the 70s. I am not on a specialty diet nor do I do keto. I usually eat a lot of fruit and seafood. Once average my glucose monitor tells me my daily averages are around 75. What do you think I have? Am I in a pre-diabetic state and my panaceas is just pumping out insulin?
Avatar f tn Is blood glucose reading of 139 ok two hours after eating? I've just begun self-testing and I've had three readings of 88 (afternoon, no food), 89 (morning before eating or drinking), and 139 (two hours after eating). My mother's family has Type I diabetes (8 out of 11 total) and my father developed Type II before he died. I'm concerned because I have very high "highs" and very low "lows" complete with blurred vision, shaking, anxiety, and constant urination.
Avatar m tn I am controlling my diabetes now for two months without medication. I set up an excel document and print it off , you can fit two months worth of info on one sheet, it's so easy to show the doctor trends, I include how many calories I've eaten per meal. It's really helped me. I've lost 30 llbs in two months and have stayed off of medication.

Avatar m tn I am a student at Brown University in Providence, RI, USA doing a project on constant blood pressure monitoring. Instead of using a blood pressure cuff, you'd wear a patch or a bracelet-like device that would monitor your blood pressure 24/7 and you'd be able to track your measurements on your smartphone or computer. Do you think such a device would help you monitor your condition better? What are some current problems people have with their blood pressure cuffs?
Avatar f tn Our Sugar Sense app, as Super_sally888 mentions, is a great way to track blood sugar and get more information about diabetes. We focus mostly on adults with Type 2, but many people use the app to track the numbers of their Type 1 children, especially because of the "green" color that comes on when your blood glucose numbers are in range — kids like this visual indicator of success! To find the app, search for Sugar Sense in the App Store or on Google Play.
Avatar m tn The lancet holder and blood glucose monitor were being used on many patients. Neither device was disinfected before or after being used on me. What is the risk of Hep-B in this situation? The CDC says that holders/monitors should be disinfected between uses because blood can transfer from the holder/monitor during the test.
Avatar f tn They will give u diet restrictions & have u monitor and chart ur blood sugar levels every day.

Avatar n tn Here is some more information on blood glucose ranges and blood sugar testing for you from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app. http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Be-Blood-Sugar-Savvy/1777 If you enter enough data over enough days, our app gives you an average A1C -- this is your 3 month average amount of glucose in your blood. It's likely a better measure than the daily averages from your meter, as Mindmaster points out. Here's a little more about the A1C: http://www.medhelp.
