Avatar f tn Serum albumin is produced by the liver, occurs dissolved in blood plasma and is the most abundant blood protein in mammals. Albumin is essential for maintaining the oncotic pressure needed for proper distribution of body fluids between blood vessels and body tissues. The reference range for albumin concentrations in serum is approximately 3.5 - 5.0 g/dl So, also for albumin you are within normal range.
Avatar n tn I assume your mother had her blood work done after overnight fasting and before she ingested food or liquids onther than water. If that is true and her: (in your words) "Glucose is 180." she could have diabetes. Her next step should be to see her doctor about both the high cholesterol and the elevated glucose levels.
Avatar n tn I had recent dizzyness (usually at night), and went to my cardiologist about it, nad he took me off one of my blood pressue meds. Dizzyness seems better. They gave me a blood test, and my Glucose Serum came in at 103. It had been 87 about 3 months ago. This latest bloodtest was given to me about an hour after I had a glass of orange juice, and an english muffin with peanut butter. I believe that I had also not fasted before the blood test 3 months ago.
Avatar f tn Blood glucose test measures the level of glucose in the blood. It cannot tell you the reason behind the high glucose level in the blood. If you develop insulin resistance, then naturally your blood glucose level rises. However in your case the glucose level is normal. If your insulin test comes positive, then you can develop high blood sugar levels in the future. Do let me know if there is any thing else you want to know and please keep me posted. Take care!
751951 tn?1406632863 A fingerstick or venipuncture at the time of lumbar puncture may therefore be performed to assess peripheral glucose levels in order to determine a predicted CSF glucose value. Decreased glucose levels can indicate fungal, tuburculous or pyogenic infections; lymphomas; leukemia spreading to the meninges; meningoencephalitic mumps; or hypoglycemia.
1047522 tn?1258145704 Sorry, forgot to specify. I am looking to chart the SERUM levels. Thank you.
Avatar m tn 0, specific gravity 1.025,250 of glucose, which makes no sense with normal serum glucose and negative for ketones, blood, nitrite and leukocyte esterase. Urine hCG was negative as well" I just dont understand. Its looking like i have more than one thing working against me.
Avatar f tn Hi, studies are controversial to show if lysine can increase cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. They state that excess dietary lysine did not change serum lipids and glucose significantly. The data showed that excess lysine caused changes in lipid metabolism which varied with the quantity of casein in it. Regards.
Avatar m tn this is a simple test offered be almost any lab that involves establishing a baseline fasting glucose result, then having the patient ingest a known quantity of glucose in solution. Serum glucose samples are then collected at specified intervals to determine the rate of glucose metabolism. If you indeed have insulin resistance, this will be reflected in the time it takes your serum to return to baseline glucose levels. Whatcha think, Mike?
Avatar n tn Just took blood work including B12. Results didn't come in yet. Been taking lots of blood work from different docs and my glucose serum is really high normal. Also had a 2hr. glucose tolerance test. High normal. Docs say I have Rheumatoid arthritis but I may have Lupus. Seeing a new doc this week. I have fibromyalgia. Along with the heat sensation, I get prickling pins/needles all over my body. The pain is so bad from it. I don't know what's going on with me.
Avatar n tn m Borderline Diabetic, my levels on Hemoglobin A1c are at 5.9 now and my Glucose, Serum is now 96 from my blood drawn on 8/17. I've lost 47lbs total, but have gained 8lbs back in one week. I did a search on Low TSH, Low FT4 and Low Ft3. Could I possiblly have Euthyroid Sick Syndrome or nonthyroidal illness? I did just recently have a hysterectomy, could that have caused this. I had Fibroid Tumors and they also make people anemic.
646318 tn?1261181494 found (1991) that URINARY URIC ACID CLEARANCE DECREASES IN PROPORTION TO INCREASES IN INSULIN RESISTANCE in normal volunteers, leading to an increase in the serum uric acid concentration. The mechanism explaining the observed association is unclear. On the one hand, there are mechanisms implying DECREASED RENAL EXCRETION OF URIC ACID IN THE PRESENCE OF HYPERINSULINEMIA, including increased levels of ketoacids and increased sodium reabsorption with the elevation of uric acid (Modan et al. 1987).
3605385 tn?1347692520 I am on Medforum -- which does not lower the glucose/serum. A recent visit before and after a meal show my glucose/serum 113 to 118. Well within the range I've been . . . all my vitals are nearly perfect. Yes, I am totally reversible, actually. A chat with my doctor and another doctor -- have shown this is true for me. I was not diabetic six months ago. This is very new for me.
Avatar n tn The endochronologist will order a vitamin D3 level and you will probably be put on a supplement. This will lower your blood calcium levels, and undoubtedly reduce fatigue. They will give other tests, such as an hba1c to evaluate glucose levels, which can also contriubute to fatigue.
1667350 tn?1303724825 Hello, Definitely your blood sugar levels, uric acid levels and cholesterol levels are raised. Fasting blood sugar levels between 100- 125 mg/dl indicates pre diabetic range. Pre diabetics are more to developing full blown diabetes in near future. This does not usually need drugs to be controlled and glucose levels can be brought under control with good exercise and diet control. A diet that includes fruits, vegetables, fiber-containing foods, and low-fat milk is advised.
