Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
1253246 tn?1332073310 Hey Cindy ..Most DR.(at least here in Canada) will run the ... "Plasma Glucose test" then if there is a higher than normal reading on that they will run the... "Glucose tolerance test" I believe if the reading on that one is higher than 140mg/dl you are considered pre-diabetic and higher than 200mg/dl you are diabetic. The second test is the one GDSgirl mentioned where you drink the sweet stuff and they take blood after a few hrs.
Avatar m tn In Canada, the glucose [blood sugar] measurement unit is mmol/l. The A1c in Canada and the US is measured in % [percentile]. An A1c of 6.5% equates to 7.77 mmol/l, diabetes. These are the glucose ranges: - Normal ranges are 3.33/3.88 to 5.5 mmol/l - Prediabetes 5.55 to 6.94 mmol/l - Diabetes 7 mmol/l and above You can purchase your own home glucose test meter from your local pharmacist or ask your doctor for one or where to obtain one.
490398 tn?1319940717 This is NOT a fasting glucose. My dad is diabetic and he has all of the tools to test blood. He has regular diabetes not Type 2 but it usually skips a generation. I had blood taken at the doctor last week, again, not fasting, for other health problems and it came back at 169. My doc obviously wants to retest me when I've been fasting and get an A1c.
Avatar n tn It makes a BIG difference when you test your blood sugar [glucose]. Not knowing your country of residence, the following are testing times with US measurement units. The UK and other countries, like Canada, require conversion from mg/dl to mmol/l. ● Fasting - first thing in morning before eating or drinking anything except water.
Avatar n tn A fasting glucose test will give a fairly accurate reading of the amount of excess glucose floating around your blood streams. A measurement of 5.0 mmol/l is considered normal, not diabetic.

Avatar n tn In the event that you had a fasting blood glucose test, a dimension somewhere in the range of 70 and 100 mg/dL (3.9 and 5.6 mmol/L) is viewed as ordinary. In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
975514 tn?1324997938 I recently had a blood test, which included a glucose test. I wasn't fasting. I ate a bowl of whole grain cereal at about 5AM. My test was a 10AM. My uncle has diabetes and my sister is hypoglycemic. I know I get sick if I have a shake from McDonalds, but that's about it. I get really tired and nauseated. I don't drink sugary beverages at all just because I am always watching my weight, but I wonder now how that would effect me?
Avatar f tn Hello Doctor, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis last year at age 57, but I'm not sure what kind. I started out hyper which my doctor treated with beta blockers to slow my heart rate. Then I went hypo, and I've been on 50 mcg of Synthroid for the past year. My last TSH was 2.98. My question is regarding blood glucose. My last fasting test was 127. I've always tested under 100. I'm fearful of developing diabetes. Is the synthroid causing my blood sugar to rise?
Avatar m tn I started taking Tricor about 6 months ago and since then my fasting glucose has been around 126 and my glucose intolerance is 178. My A1C has always been around 4.2 and now is 6.8. Are there any other medications out there for lowering triglycerides that wont cause this reaction? Tricor also makes me nausiated.
Avatar f tn I am sure the doctor will get back to you, but you really have to make sure and show this to your child's doctor. I have learned that the blood sugars he is having are not normal and he needs to be seen tomorrow. He needs the follow up testing asap and needs an A1C test. This shows the average blood sugar over the last few months. It showed my daughter to have a glucose intolerance. Good Luck. Becky This is on the american diabetes association website.
Avatar n tn ve done finger/arm tests throughout the day and have not had anything remotely abnormal. I had a fasting blood sugar level of 93 first thing in the AM and all my levels after eating were 135 or below. Could the 191 have been error? Should I request to have the one hour test repeated first before I torture myself with the three hour test? Or should I just suck it up and do the test.
Avatar m tn Both of your values suggest that you have impaired fasting glucose (range 100 - 125). The measurement is the same in fasting and non fasting testing - the difference is in the reference range. A normal fasting glucose is < 100 and the current thinking seems to be that even a result in the mid to high 90s might suggest close monitoring. The answer to your question is that it doesn't matter whether they call it non fasting or fasting glucose test result.
Avatar f tn I recently tested negative for diabetes, blood glucose level 92 after fasting blood test. But I have symptoms of diabetes: tingling in legs, frequent urination, dry mouth. Please give me some hope. Is it possible that I have symptoms of diabetes, but not actually have diabetes?
Avatar n tn By eating at night you may be able to help your morning blood sugar be a bit lower. When you have extended fasting your liver can put out glucose. By eating a small snack you may be able to prevent your liver doing this. hope this helps. Please come back and let us know how you're going. Often diabetes in preganncy will get worse as the pregnancy progresses (insulin resistance increases as the pregnancy progresses and the placenta grows).
Avatar f tn Hello~I am not a doctor or lab technician, so I really can not give you a clear answer on this. However, I am wondering if this test was "fasting" or "non-fasting" If fasting, the glucose looks a wee bit high to me, not much, but higher than most doctors like it to be if you are fasting, the desired levels are under 100.
Avatar n tn All of my number are ok EXCEPt my fasting blood sugar. I'm not in any medication.
