Blood clots during period causes

Common Questions and Answers about Blood clots during period causes

period

I have blood clots since my period started,(23 years ago) and I always thought it is normal for every one, but once I was chatting with my friends and discovered that I am the only one who suffer this. I have a 7 days period with blood clots on each and every day, and severe blood clots on the second and third day of my period. Is this normal? and does this affect if I want to be pregnant.
Hey I'm 18 years old and sexually active.. I get blood clots also, long fleshy clots ( gross).. I have been having my period almost every other month for about 3 years now. I only recently got my period in 9th grade, and when I do get it it's mean, CRAMPS KILL ME..Could the sex be the cause of my delays?! and could my irregularity affect my fertility!?
Well, often blood clots happen DURING your period (and if you're clotting, you're still bleeding, and you're still on your period) and that's what causes you to cramp. It's completely normal. Some people have cramps more frequently then others (or bigger clots), or some people vary with how badly they cramp.
I had them every month from when I started my period until I got on the pill. I don't have clots since being on the pill. They must be normal though 'cause I had them for about 8 years and everything is fine.
I got my period this morning and i noticed that i have a lot of really big blood clots. The first few were just on my tampon when i took it out but then i had several large ones that when i took my tampon out the fell into the toilet. Ive never had this before. My medical history that has to do with my mentrual cycle is i have a history of ovarian cysts. None of them have been severe but have been painful to the point where they have landed me in the hospital.
Almost out of the first trimester and then this happens last night and today bleeding light to dark brown little bit of pink in it. Blood clots today and discomfort down there still continuing... I never had this with my son. And I'm freaky out!!!!
Hi! Clots during your period mean that you are bleeding rapidly and heavily. In a case like yours, I would probably want to get an ultrasound to look at the endometrium ( lining of the uterus). There can be at least three causes of heavy bleeding--one could be a chronic low grade endometritis ( infection of the lining ) This could be diagnosed with a biopsy, or just treated empirically with antibiotics. Two--anovulation ( failiure to ovulate regularly) which it sounds like you do have.
hi, i know that clumpy blood clots are ok to have during periods but small ones.. do you take advil or motrin for pain during your period? i got also in the past big clots that really freaked me out, and when i spoke to my doctor she said that advil and motrin thins out the blood so the period goes through faster so it could be why you get clots . but what about another misscarriage? do you just get clots or do you have tissue like discharge also?
I passed several large blood clots. Had blood rush out of me at work so quickly I did not have time to even reach the bathroom. I thought for sure that I had a Miscarriage. I called the doctor again and they had me come in right away for a sonagram. I was suprised to see that I had NOT lost the baby. I was in fact 9 1/2 weeks pregnant. They said my baby was heathy and had a good heart beat. I was able to see my baby on the screen and it was the best feeling I have had in years.
i also have a watery discharge during my period. it is clear and odorless. even if there is very little blood on my tampon, it soaks through and leaks through my pad and clothing as well. recently, i have been having less liquid blood and more clots, with a lot of the watery discharge. i have three solid days of going through both a tampon and pad within an hour. i also have severe backache and cramping, and just generally feel ill, which i realize could be just normal period stuff.
Am very familiar with symptoms of serious blockage and some of what is now chronic distress as described may be due to occassional self-correcting partial intestinal blockages, but this latest two-month old pattern is distressingly persistent. Dark clots during this period are a new development. Appointment with doc is pending, but meanwhile very concerned and curious. Help.
My periods are always 28 days apart and7 days long. In October, my period was 8 days late. In November, my period was 16 days late. So I had blood work done to see if I was pregnant. I wasn't. In December, I took a pregnancy test 2 days before my period and it came out negative. My period came right on time in December.Well, on January 8; which was a week after my period was over; I just felt pregnant. I have been pregnant seven times so I know what being pregnant feels like.
I recently had blood work done to check my immune system and the only thing that showed up is that I have an allergy to who knows what, but my symptoms only surface during my period. Last month my doctor prescribed me claritin to take 2days before my period and throughout it and no cold. This month I didn't take anything and sure enough, I have awful cold symptoms again.
Hi everyone, yesterday I brought my wife home from the hospital (7 days) after she was admitted for having blood clots. She has a blood clot in her upper arm/shoulder area, and a blood clot in each lung. The ONLY risk factor she has towards blood clots is that she is on birth control. She has been on Yasmin for around 4-5 months now (she was previously on orthotricyclin). My wife is 25 and a non-smoker.
I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. But have you had your Progesterone levels checked? I ask because low Progesterone can cause "brown" spotting but I don't know about black spotting. I know you can spot during ovulation also so maybe the way your uterus is, the blood doesn't come down until later and that causes the "old" blood.
No additional stents placed at that time, the blockage was blood clots in 2 areas due to being off plavix for 3 weeks. The said they pulled out the clots during heart cath. I had been on toporol xl 25mg already due to 6 stents placed in 2006 for blockage of 70% in 3 areas, these were kissing stents placed back to back in 2006. no new stenting for heart attack.
I was just wondering if this is normal or not: during my period, if it's a heavier one, I sometimes feel pain in the "lips" of my vagina, like they're sore or swollen. They don't appear to be swollen though. I feel like this might just be due to the increased blood flow down there but it was especially bad this time (though I should add this is my first period in about 8 months - I went off birth control, but am going to go back on soon [I've never been pregnant]).
have they checked you for endometriosis (i'm not sure if thats spelled right) but i understand that it causes extremly unbareable cramps i have had clots during my cycle before and am told this is normal.as for the cramps if it is endometriosis the do have med's for that.
I have been experiencing very mild, but noticible nausea around the time I ovulate and again right before, during and after my period. It is not all the time during the day, but feels very strange and unusual and has consistently come and gone during these times. I would think I were pregnant if it had not been going on for a few months and if I had not had regular, heavy periods. We are trying to get pregnant and I wonder if something is out of balance with hormones?
with red blood present i'm also having yellowish black color blood(not reddish black)-not thick or clots. it doesn't look like blood...i never heard or seen before.... what causes this?
Usually from my understanding of what I know.. Don't quote me though...Implantation bleeding usually tends to occur around or at the same time of your period. This causes alot of women to think "oh im in the clear I bled for a few days or what not-Implantation bleeding usually is just a little bit of spotting etc BUT everyone is different.
I'm so glad your senses returned! When I fractured my skull, the blood from my cranium "collected" behind my left ear for a month or so. It was blue and black behind my ear and down my head. I also had a lot of trouble hearing from my left ear, because the blood was pressuring my ear drum. Sometimes my ears ring, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the treble level on the radio or anything.
The current dose is 400mg for more than half that time. Many years ago I was on Lithium and gained 200lbs during the 6 year period that I was taking it. But after I went off the drug and went to a natural regimen, found that my body would not allow me to lose any substantial amount of weight without gaining it back. I carried this weight for 15 years. Two years ago, I was seeking help in the summer as I was having difficulties with my SAD cycle.
I'm not sure what a miscarriage is and what happens... However during some of my periods, sometimes I would have some blood clots that come out as well as a flow. Almost like it clots at the cervix which then causes a build up of blood and eventually it gets pushed out....if that makes any sense. Another thing is, my husband brought a wine and cheese platter for us to try on the 5th, so I had a couple glasses of wine then. If it was a miscarriage, would that have something to do with it?
hi i was wondering my dr put me on prometrium during this pregnancy has anyone else takin it while pregnate and had a succussful pregnacy the bottle says not to take during pregnancy im confussed please help
I was was diagnosed with endo at 33 after having pain (right side only) not just during my period, but on and off during my whole cycle. I was scheduled for a lap, and low and behold, I ended up pregnant. I am thrilled because I wasn't sure that was even possible. I am 5 1/2 weeks in and I am experiencing the same endo pain I had but more severe. This is not only reallllly uncomfortable, but worse than the pain- its making so paranoid that something is wrong or will go wrong.
I'm having some bad cramps and back pain with this one and I've noticed some greyish brown bits with the blood and a few clots or really thick strings of blood. My husband and I don't use any type of birth control aside from the withdrawal method and it's been that way for many years but I've never had a time where I thought I was pregnant. If I were only like 2-3 weeks pregnant would I even see the miscarriage (as in bits of tissue and such)?
