Common Questions and Answers about Blood cholesterol symptoms

blood

Avatar m tn The data are inconclusive and I have never heard of anyone having an increased level of cholesterol due to blood pressure meds. Your LDL is very high and HDL is low, I would considers some lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as a statin to help get these numbers down because high cholesterol and high BP are two modifiable risk factors and both will be benefited by diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn I do not have any symptoms. I just received the second blood draw for a possible job in Antarctica. We have to pass a extreme physical in order to go. Oh, and not sure if this would affect the numbers, I got my period the next day after the blood draw or is it the Niacin?? Thanks for any help on this.

Avatar n tn t forget that low blood pressure can also give you the same symptoms, if you pressure is under 90/60 you can experience the symptoms you describe as well.
Avatar f tn These are the symptoms that I have: occasional burning pain in stomach, no other GI problems, good appetite, numbness in tip of the tongue, nausea, mild dizziness and headache, mostly like heavy head feeling, flushing of upper chest and neck. All blood work is normal; MRI of the brain negative, mildly enlarged thyroid with bilateral non vascularized nodules, positive for thyroid antibodies but normal thyroid function, negative for sjongren, lupus, RA, cholesterol ok, glucose level ok.
Avatar f tn My husband has been to the doctor's for blood work a few times over the last couple of years for cholesterol with very high numbers, which medication never made better and results would be Gout. Recently, on the urgency of his mother and myself, we begged him to request blood work for Thyroid after determining all his other symptoms pointed that direction. Results, Triglycerides=2000, Cholesterol=640, THS=300 (yes this correct).
976897 tn?1379167602 Wow, after eating all that chocolate at xmas my cholesterol was 150, just in the limits. Thyroid is fine and trigs fine too. I'm surprised that eating lots of full fat cheese and drinking lots of full fat milk didn't make any difference.
Avatar m tn CBC (complete blood check), cholesterol, glucose fasting and OGTT exams. These tests may uncover why you are experiencing your left arm issues. Question: When you don't eat and feel the hypoglycemia symptoms arising, does eating a candy or drinking orange juice alleviate the problem rather quickly? If it does, you are leaning towards having hypoglycemic symptoms.
Avatar f tn When admitted my blood pressure (taken on 3 counts) was 172/90. I still have fluctuating high blood pressure and also high cholesterol levels. Hypothyroidism is also another problem I have had for the last 13 years since becoming pregnant with my first child (6 months into pregnancy). I take 50mcg thyroxine each day. I have also been diagnosed with IGT, which can be a pre-curser to diabetes mellitus.
Avatar m tn Does this affect your blood pressure? Have you had your blood glucose (blood sugar) checked lately? Anyone in your family been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease or Multiple Sclerosis? I would dig into family history for these and talk with your doctor if these describe your symptoms. I hope this helps you.
Avatar f tn Hi, For over 10 years I have been dealing with occurrences of the sensation that my throat is clogged and have had difficulty swallowing. This feeling sometimes causes me to gag. In 1994 (age 10) an ENT said that I had a slight case of acid reflux. In 2003, at age 19, I learned that I have high cholesterol. This was shocking because I am very healthy and active (5'2 and 115 lbs). I have completely changed my diet, but have not been able to lower my cholesterol (ranges from 275-223).

214065 tn?1251288877 Total Cholesterol: A high cholesterol in the blood is a major risk factor for heart and blood vessel disease. Cholesterol in itself is not all bad, in fact, our bodies need a certain amount of this substance to function properly. However, when the level gets too high, vascular disease can result. A total cholesterol of less than 200, and an LDL Cholesterol of 100 or less is considered optimal by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think the HDLC is your HDL cholesterol(high density lipoprotein cholesterol). This is the "good cholesterol" in your body. Depending on your gender, there are optimal levels. For women optimal levels are often above 50, and for men above 40.

1174225 tn?1269628721 Persons with LDL cholesterol pattern A have large, buoyant LDL cholesterol particles. Individuals with pattern A are more likely to have normal blood levels of LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Pattern A is usually not associated with an increased likelihood of atherosclerosis. Persons with LDL cholesterol pattern B have predominantly small and dense LDL cholesterol particles.
Avatar f tn Aside from various cardiac issues I've had, I recently found out from some blood work that I have high cholesterol and from a test called aspirinworks, which showed that I have a predisposition to clotting as well. Anyways, over the past few months I've had this weird kind of bulging in my right eye, as well as constant eyelid twitching.
5789562 tn?1374459029 So my latest blood work revealed that I need a dose change and that I'm insulin resistant. I am now taking 200mg of levothyroxine for hypothyroidism and 40mg of atorvastatin for cholesterol and fatty liver. I also take fish oil, multivitamin, D3, allegra, and baby aspirin. My medical provider is focusing on my thyroid before tackling everything else. I should also mention that my mother has non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, dementia, diverticulitis, and myopathy.
