1621722 tn?1333050499 You are an alcohol addict. Does that make you feel more at ease than being called an alcoholic? It shouldn't because you use this drug because you don't like the way you feel or act without it. Begin the process of seeking treatment.
Avatar f tn As a good friend of mine just reminded me - hepatitis means inflammation of the liver so THAT you could have and most likely do. However - I think your doctor is leaning towards viral hepatitis in the fact that you don't have a very large drinking history and say you "only" drink beer. Alcohol is alcohol and whichever hep it might be you have to cut that out unless you find out you don't have any liver problems.
Avatar m tn recent results: HBsAg + HBeAg - anti-HBe + HBV DNA 6800 IU/ml gentype B precore mutation ALT 32 (normal range 8 ~ 69) All other liver function in normal range. I believe that I was anti-HBe positive when I was 20 yr old. Liver function was always normal in the past. HBV DNA has never been tested. I think the doctor overlook this since my LFT was normal. I will have a liver biopsy soon. How do you think the severity of my status? I am a 42 yr old man. I didn't and don't drink alcohol.
Avatar m tn I know the statistics with alcohol and acetaminophen - Alcohol appears to activate the enzyme CYP2E1 in the liver. I don't know exactly what Mercy is referring to with the statement, "they will own you." If it's meant opiates will own you - that's another totally different thread and not true for most. If it's meant that mixing alcohol and opiates is a bad combination - by all means that is true. Back to your question, "could i die doing this even 1 time?
Avatar f tn I have seen a large variance in statistics about HSV2 and I was wondering if anyone had some reliable resources or knowledge of the following statistics.
10947 tn?1281404252 We hope to launch Tracker Statistics in the near future, which will analyze and calculate various statistics based on the data that you enter into your trackers. For example, we might show the average follicular and luteal phases for the ovulation tracker, or 7-day, 30-day and 90-day trends for the weight tracker. In addition, we might show a list of your most frequent symptoms.
5789562 tn?1374459029 So my latest blood work revealed that I need a dose change and that I'm insulin resistant. I am now taking 200mg of levothyroxine for hypothyroidism and 40mg of atorvastatin for cholesterol and fatty liver. I also take fish oil, multivitamin, D3, allegra, and baby aspirin. My medical provider is focusing on my thyroid before tackling everything else. I should also mention that my mother has non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, dementia, diverticulitis, and myopathy.
Avatar m tn Last week the cardilogist did an echo, ekg and blood test. All of this came back fine. My doc said it is acid reflux, but this heart thing is in the back of my mind since then. So, what do you think? By the way, i moderately drink alcohol and smoke only in parties, in the past i've been drinking a lot of energy drinks, but i broke that habit completely. I'm a bit overweight (163 cm and 78 kgs), but my blood pressure is OK.
475555 tn?1469304339 Does anyone know where I can get some statistics on how many people with hepatitis progress to end-stage liver disease, particularly with reference to genotype, age, ALT/AST, etc.? Thanks!
Avatar f tn The reality of it is....they know that alcohol causes FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome)...they do NOT know the safe cut-off. Most women avoid it because of this. Yes, one glass of one could be just fine, so if you feel like the benefits outweigh the risk, you're a grown woman and can make that choice. But since your doctor is saying no, I would trust my doctor and not drink it.
Avatar m tn Your 3 month post exposure test will be conclusive..
Avatar m tn OK, but this is just a groundless statement, first you do not have statistics to back you up, even if you have, you do not have statistics for that particular clinic or nurse; second, it is common sense that we all tend to forget to lock the car even if we use the car everyday, or we may forget to close the fridge door even if we use it everyday, so it is not impossible for nursese to forget to change the needle in the lancet. So I checked the statistics for hiv risk from reused lancet.
Avatar n tn Hi I am a 26 year old male who has suffered from a lot of anxiety and depression for much of my teen and adult years. Also whenever I get my blood pressure read I am super nervous and it reads very high. My grandmother from what I have heard seemed to be a very anxious/depressed person and also smoked cigarretes, and self medicated with alcohol and pills. Toward the very end of her life she developed high blood pressure and died of a brain aneurysm at 59.
Avatar n tn If the GGT level is normal in a person with a high ALP, the cause could be bone disease. GGT can also be used to screen for alcohol use. Statistics suggest that it is elevated in about 75% of those who drink fairly regularly or drink too frequently. If you do drink, I'd suggest you stop and get retested to see if there is a change. GGT has nothing to do with a vasectomy or sexual activity to my knowledge.
Avatar n tn absolutely. In fact it is recommended you have a glass of wine every day because statistics show it's beneficial over someone who has no alcohol at all.
Avatar f tn I am not too familiar with blood alcohol, but I would think that maybe you could have been dehydrated and that could have caused the reading. Try drinking more water next time.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn Those of us in long term recovery understand that we cannot use any mind altering substances at all, alcohol included. Science has shown that our pleasure centers in the brain are different after addiction, and stimulating them with alcohol (even if we were never addicted to it) will cause us to crave our drug of choice. Coupling that with the lowered inhibitions that alcohol induces, it's a bad combination. Just be careful about it. Have a way out if it gets to be too much for you.
