Blood alcohol saturation

Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol saturation

alcohol

Avatar m tn High ferritin is common in people that drink large amounts of alcohol, the only way iron leaves the body is to donate whole blood.
Avatar n tn Haemochromatosis causes weakness, fatigue, and pain in the right hypochondrium near the liver. A high dietary intake of iron, alcohol intake, multiple blood transfusions and hemolytic anemia can lead to high iron levels. Serum iron levels fluctuate during the day so it is preferred that the test should be done fasting. Other tests like trnasferrin saturation and TIBC may be needed. Liver biopsy to measure iron content of liver tissue confirms the diagnosis. Seek the opinion of hepatologist.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how to interpret these results? My iron is normal (so surely this can't be anaemia?), yet Iron Binding Capacity is higher and Transferrin Saturation is lower than it should be. I read that the contraceptive pill can do this, but I do not take it. I am not seeing my doctor for several weeks, so I'm wondering what the cause might be? I am 25. Iron: 12 (Range: 10.0-30.
Avatar f tn I have researched this topic before and found several answers to why I have broken red blood vessels on my face. The answers I found were from to much alcohol consumption, washing face to rough and with hot water, heat and cold, rosacea, etc. Other than heat and cold none of them applied to me. I was disappointed to read that this was permanent. It seems that the cause of this for me was low oxygen saturation at night After a couple of nights on oxygen they are disappearing....
1927233 tn?1326670387 m now in the process of completing a battery of hydrogen breath tests for lactose, fructose, glucose, sorbitol and lactulose intolerance, and a screening for parasites (my symptoms started after a 4month trip to rural South America (I had gotten all the necessary vaccines before leaving) with low grade fever, vomiting, fatigue/malaise/muscle pain, bloating and vomiting after ingesting alcohol or oily foods.
1927233 tn?1326670387 Intolerance to oil and alcohol lasted a coupe months. One year later (Dec 2011), it happens again, but has persisted now for the last 9 months. I had surgery 4 weeks ago, (unrelated, remova of an ovarian cyst) and I have yet to recover, I'm constantly exhausted. Since I was getting nowhere with a gastroenterologist, I've seen a tropical disease specialist and hematologist. Both suggested a might be having an autoimmune response to a chronic infection or post-infectious response.
Avatar f tn but a couple of days later he once again was admiitted to the hospital with the same symptoms but only on a lesser note. His blood oxygen levels during his sleep is continously at 89 to 90. but the hospital insists that he should have atleast 93%. We find him perfectly ok and active. Can anyone let us know if this is normal in such children please give some advice or hints regarding this.
Avatar n tn 60–170 μg/dl. So your’s is high. Also the saturation should not be more than 50%. Please consult a hematologist. Take care!
1770925 tn?1365618522 Other causes like vitamin deficiencies, alcohol consumption and certain medications can cause neuropathy. So, check to rule out diabetes and vitamin deficiencies. Another cause could be an entity called restless leg syndrome, where there is an odd sensation in the legs during sleep causing the individual to move, which relieves the sensation. These disorders can cause inadequate sleep leading to fatigue and daytime sleepiness.
3093770 tn?1389739126 Ribavirin kills red blood cells, red blood cells contain iron (ferritin) and the liver sweeps up all the iron (ferritin) that is left when a red blood cell dies and stores it away for another day. So, as a result of treatment lots of red blood cells get killed and as a consequence your liver gets more iron than it would normally. (when not on treatment) It really is not concerning because of the short duration of treatment.
Avatar m tn I wonder if the doctors have considered shunting of blood with you.. Do you also happen to be short of breath as well as have other symptoms besides the low oxygen levels? I am sure that you have probably had CT scanning to rule out pulmonary emboli as well (blood clots to the lungs) That can cause this as well. Also, muscle problems can cause this, specifically if your diaphragm is affected.
Avatar m tn I recently took a blood test to test for iron. I have just gotten back the results to find that I am low on Ferritin levels. My results: Iron Total; Result: 77 mcg/dL; Reference Range: 27-164 Iron Binding Capacity; Result 392 mcg/dL; Reference Range: 271-448 % Saturation; Result 20%(calc); Reference Range 9-52 Ferritin;Result 5ng/mL; Reference Range 10-105 My doctor said my results were fine, but I had read online that low Ferritin levels were a result of an iron deficiency.
Avatar m tn s why i asked the question ..... i am trying to search about the what max. time of oxygen saturation in blood after death....
Avatar f tn While in the hospital, it was noticed that my Blood Oxygen Saturation levels dropped below the monitoring system low alarm point. A night/sleep Oxygen level test was performed which indicated levels dropping as low as 70% several times during the test with levels never exeeding 90%. I was presribed oxgen, however, no test or diagnosis on what has caused these low levels. One test while at the hospital indicated low levels of red blood cells and other related tests showed low levels.
1580703 tn?1651904887 In the meantime, follow good sleep hygiene measures like going to bed at the same time, waking up at the same time, avoidance of alcohol, smoking and caffeinated beverages. Maintain warm, comfortable bedroom environment and engage in relaxing activities like a warm bath before bed time. Hope This Helped and Do Keep Us Posted!!
Avatar n tn m having trouble understanding the results. In July, my bloodwork was normal, but my iron serum and transferrin saturation was low (iron serum was 30 and saturation was 8%). Hemataologist did 4 weeks of IV infusion (Ferracet?) and bloodwork is now worse. Iron serum is now 27, saturation is 8%, TIBC is normal and ferretin jumped from 35 to 135. However, hemoglobin dropped from 12.5 to 11.7. Hematocrit dropped from 37.5 to 34.5. RBC are now 3.9 and low MCV. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn Hopefully your doctor goes over all of this with you soon. Yes, your saturation level percentage seems slightly elevated. 45% is the cut off before they may deem it too high. Do you have any joint pain or issues like that? Do you have any symptoms? https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hemochromatosis/symptoms-causes/syc-20351443 I guess hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease and does have some initial symptoms.
Avatar m tn I have recently had an assessment for my shortness of breath and was told that I have 55% oxygen in my blood! what does this mean? This discussion is related to Low oxygen levels.
Avatar f tn i am trying to find the answer as part of course work {why do we need to monitor blood preasue when adminastering the drug degoxin } { also when we are using a nebulizer why do we check the saturation levals befor and after use } thankyou tina
2035404 tn?1455169983 Oxygen saturation is an easy to measure condition and we need to have an oxygen saturation in the 95% or higher range to feel "good". In my experience a doctor will often measure your oxygen saturation as part of initial tests when a patient comes in for almost anything, Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Body Temperature and Oxygen Saturation are key and easy to measure physical parameters of health. I have my own personal Oximeter, cost about $25.
