Male 24. I had a recently large night out and consumed copious amounts of alcohol which resulted in me retching everything in my stomach up latter that night. Since then my appetite lessened and had head aches which I would attribute to a hang over. However tonight when I went to the toilet I seemed to have systoms similar to gastritis, being of course the diuretic stool and then the odd thing which was the blood in the bowl. It was a very dark/crimson blood.
I am worried because when I cleaned my finger with the little alcohol wipe included. I then used the little lancet and took the sample but when i let the blood run off my finger onto the sample pad My finger was still a little wet and the blood looked like it got a little runny from the alcohol. Well, I tried to put as much blood as i could. I was supposed to dry my finger first and i called the company, the girl I spoke with said it would PROBABLY not affect the test.
hi- when the tester did my rapid finger prick test, he pricked my finger and rubbed the first squeeze of blood with the alcohol swab then resqueezed my finger to collect the blood sample. my question is, would the wipe of alcohol in any way contaminate the second blood sample they collected for the test?
My question is since my finger was indeed wet with alcohol, could he have contaminated the blood sample and skew the results? Could the alcohol have killed the virus? My result was negative but the fact he used the first drop of blood and rubbing alcohol was still wet, worries me. Thank you for any assistance.

My wife and I have been trying for a pregnancy for well over a year and we met with a doctor at our local fertility clinic earlier this week. She (our doctor) has told me to give a semen sample for analysis at the lab. I'm extremely anxious about providing this sample for analysis and my appointment is tomorrow morning.
When we were at the clinic they let us see a "Wank Room" (a mere cubicle, almost like a WC stall), which has only further increased my anxiety!

so while i was on my way home..the bandage where the blood sample was taken(right arm) fell off because it was hot and i was sweating...so area where they got the blood sample was exposed wihout me knowing it...i know its a small area where they inserted the needle....it was exposed to the world without the bandage...
do u think its a risk for hiv knowing that after getting the blood sample from my arm the bandage fell off without me realizing it? do i need to get RETESTED again??
She said about bringing in someone's else. I said what I didn't know I was getting a urine test done & that I was wearing the same joggers as now. But a bagger shirt & that I was in with my Dr. that gave my shots & that I pulled my joggers in his office so I can get a shot in my hip & a spot on the side of my leg. Also the nurse walked me down & checked me in so how can you say that? I'd never do anything to jeopardize me losing my medicine!!!
I understand exactly what you are saying. No there is no worry here about infection. Often the blood drawing person will pre-clean their finger before drawing blood because they need to feel where the vein is. This is actually common practice. You don't have any fever do you? If not I wouldn't worry about it at all. I used to draw blood and you have to feel the vein before drawing the blood.
They dont even ask because when you first gwt to your appointment the receptionist gives you a label for your sample and you go in the back do tour sample, slap ypur label on it.
my stool sample tested positive for occult blood. Sometimes when i insert my finger into the anus to relieve the feeling of incomplete evacuation , blood comes out even though i don't feel pain or anything. The last time i did this was sunday and the stool sample was on thursday. Could it be possible that this is the reason behind the occult blood in stool? Recently i’ve a colleague who was taking finger blood sample from hep c patient. The gloves were stained by the blood as the blood was flowing out rapidly. I was assisting my colleague by handing the stationeries and plaster and the gloves with stained blood touched my hands while I was assisting.
I don’t feel and see any blood/fluid on my hand though or there is just a little that I can’t see but i researched that the virus still exist for some time in air.
