Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol per weight

alcohol

Avatar n tn I had an unltrasound of the abdomen which showed a fatty liver but I am obese(am trying to lose weight). Hep tests were all normal, too. Will my not drinking alcohol again make things OK?
Avatar n tn Lab tests for ethanol are measured in mg/DL (miligrams per decilitre.) To convert your results to blood alcohol level, move the decimal three places to the left. In your case, your BAC would be 0.18, which is above the legal drinking limit in the USA and Canada.
Avatar f tn BAC would be in hours spent drinking, body weight and number of drinks consumed in a certain timeframe.Your blood alcohol level would've been @ .32!that is triple the legal limit for intoxication!did u drive urself home?
Avatar m tn whenever I drink alcohol (just 1 drink). Before going to bed my blood sugar is about 110 whether I drink alcohol or not. But my fasting glucose is between 140 and 150 if I drink alcohol and it is from 115 to 125 if I don't consume any alcohol the previous night. In summary the dawn phenomenon is exasperated by alcohol. But every thing I am reading is against this. I'm wondering if any one has any logical explanation for this.
1555116 tn?1294483683 Wow, if you exercise 2-3 hours per day and you take in only 1700 calories and you are only 24 years old and gaining weight, there is definitely something wrong. I am 58 years old and walk 5 days per week for 1-2 hours per day, and I eat 2,000 - 3,000 calories per day while maintaining 115 lbs. over 10 years. (I'm 5 foot 6 1/2 inches tall.) I would advise that you go to a doctor and have him/her order the tests that Barb135 recommends.
475570 tn?1280941363 I am on Carvedilol 12.5 mg 2per day -Lisinopril 20 mg 2 per day- Diovan 80 mg 2 per day -synthroid 1.25 1per day plavix 75 1 per day. asprin 81 mg. Vytorin 10-40 . I n spite of all these meds My pressure is still 168 /87. I have had a kidney test and blood test and that is well. What else could cause this high pressure.
Avatar f tn So I see that alcohol seems to definitely make pvcs worse. As I love my glass of wine each night, I'm trying to choose between giving that up completely, or going on the metropolol. What is everyone's experience with that med? Is it pretty helpful? Would I have to abstain from alcohol anyway, while on the med? I'm also wondering about the effectiveness of biofeedback. I've read that it can help with blood pressure and irregular heatbeat. Does anyone know anything about this?
Avatar m tn i was recently was diagnosed with left ventricular hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction. i don't have high blood pressure per say , my diastolic has been 88-90 intermittently recently. i do drink alcohol generally once a week, 3-4 drinks while out to dinner with friends. could that amount of alcohol produce these changes in my heart? literature i've read suggest heavy drinking of alcohol on a daily basis will cause this?
Avatar n tn Hard to say for sure. You generally burn off an ounce of alcohol per hour. Take the ounces of wine, about 8% alcohol or so... get the number of ounces of alcohol and multiply to get the hours to metabolize it... but then you will have some breakdown products for a few hours as well that will look suspicious. The best bet is to go back in time and don't drink the wine.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear of your father's passing. I had major issues with Effexor, but I have to say, many benefit from the drug, like any drug it works well for some not for others. The med itself doesn't make you gain weight per se. Chances are you were/are emotionally eating, so I'm taking a wild stab that the med hasn't helped you all that much. It happened to me when my depression wasn't controllled enough either, but this is solely my experience.

471161 tn?1317190950 Can you please tell me what blood tests he should get and maybe what foods to stay away from or something/ His doctor only told him to lose weight and nothing else. Oh he did put him on a statin drug for high triglycerides but no blood work. The fatty liver was found by an ultrasound. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn m 100% certain he was in no way drunk at all. His blood alcohol level did not get back to 0 until 1am...about 24 hours before he went to bed the night before.
Avatar m tn But, I do get LOTS of burps in a day. Its more than 100 per day!!! Sometimes, I will not be able to burp at all and lot of discomfort. Especially, when I laying down, I CANT burp. I have to get up or sit to burp. During the sleep, I don't know what happens(of course, lot of discomfort through out night). But, when I get up in the morning, I get too many burps. I have stopped coffee, tea, alcohol, smoking... what not... I reduce my weight about 10 lbs in last 4 months.
Avatar n tn your doc can also check a fibrosure tests which is a non-invasive marker of fibrosis. I agree with cutting back your alcohol intake for now. Is weight loss also required? there is some data to suggest also that Vitamin E 400 IU twice daily can help fatty liver.
Avatar m tn The calculation is based on your current weight, height, age and activity level. You don't say how active you are, so I listed you as little to no activity; I can recalculate, based on how many days/week you exercise. For your current stats, with little, to no, exercise, the calculation comes out to around 3000 calories to maintain your current weight. Safe weight loss is considered to be 1-2 lbs/week. In order to lose 1 lb/week, you'd have to cut 500 calories/day from your diet...
Avatar m tn and I just happened to have my yearly exam while there. What do you think is the likely culprit? Alcohol, weight, viral hep or just an anomaly? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn In a recent study assessing the effects of a range of alcohol intake levels on fibrosis in HCV-infected patients, Monto et al reported no association between light (zero to 1.45 drinks per day) ) or moderate (1.46 drinks per day to 3.6 drinks per day) alcohol use and mean fibrotic score.48 Heavy alcohol use (> 3.6 drinks per day) was associated with a significant increase in mean fibrotic score.
Avatar f tn So is it bad if I eat twice the amount of calories per day I'm supposed to be eating 2000 calories a day I eat about 4000??..
Avatar m tn You didn't say if you're overweight! Belly fat, and testosterone don't go together. Body fat contains aromatase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogens, the female sex hormone in women. Having extra estrogens triggers your body to slow its production of testosterone. And the less testosterone you make, the more belly fat you accumulate and the more estrogens you have.
Avatar m tn T are Normal stage, Can I again drink alcohol as per my old rutting?
341207 tn?1224245896 Her past survey work concluded that moderate consumption of alcohol (up to 7 glasses per week) does not reduce a woman’s chances of purposefully getting pregnant. For this study, the researcher set out to take a closer look at specific types of alcohol consumed by the 29,844 pregnant women who had participated in the first survey. Researchers discovered that wine drinkers had a nearly 30 percent greater chance than nondrinkers of getting pregnant within one year of trying.
Avatar m tn Well, that's true that weight loss would improve a lot of his symptoms, but you are right that there are a lot of issues going on here. One thing to remember though, is medically, even without the alcohol or the extra weight, it has gotten to a certain point where your father has medical issues that are irreversible. But what the optimal thing to do now is try to help improve his quality of life and focus on relief of symptoms. It sounds like pain is a big issue.
