Avatar f tn The focus on how important normal blood pressure is, and how dangerous high blood pressure is, can make anyone anxious and produce false blood pressure results. And 149/80 is just mildly elevated. Anxiety will make the blood pressure increase in everyone. It's a normal response. In Norway, almost no one get the diagnosis of high blood pressure without a 24 hour monitoring, to reveal the true blood pressure.
Avatar m tn t breathe through his nostrils and when he blows his nose, stringy strands of rubber band like mucous come out in strands…sometimes w a little blood. He lives on the Gold Coast, Australia, Im in NZ and want to know what to suggest. Avatar f tn Just thought I would let you all know for future reference if there are any sufferers in NZ, that I saw Dr Andrew Law yesterday, and found him to be excellent in every way. He has a good understanding of Chiari, Syrinx, Spina Bifida, amongst other things and was very helpful to me. He's very experienced (I did some homework!) and a really down to earth guy who takes a patient seriously.
Avatar m tn Thanks Doc I appreciate your reassuring information. I am unsure if the NZ tests are duo's as such and many NZ medical professionals seem to think you need to wait 4 weeks but I rang a lab pathologist and he said the blood tests do have a p24 antigen component. 1. Do you know what tests NZ uses? 2. I am concerned because I had a stomach illness starting two days before I had the test, until a couple of days after. If this was ARS, would the antigen, or the antibody tests show positive??
648439 tn?1225058862 I was shocked but I thought that perhaps in NZ is is not offered in treatment probably because of cost. I am talking govt funded treatment, not private. Does any NZ-er know anything about this - anyone being treated with Procrit or similar here.
Avatar m tn I cam back from trip to NZ two and a half years ago with what i though was a tummy bug. I ahve had every test under the sun 3 times. Stool sames fine, urine fine hormones fine. The only test that comes back abnormal is Liver function. I hae increased enzymes. I dont had hepatitis and the doctors are stuck with whats wrong. My current 3rd optinion doctor has me on a liver cleansing diet but i still feel nauseous and headachy majority of th time.

1017452 tn?1254904998 I'm a prime example of cross addiction. I would get sober and clean just to relapse on something different...a different drug, or alcohol. Cross addiction is common for those that do not get to the root of their disease. This time around I am seeing a recovery coach, I have a sponsor and I go to both AA and NA meetings. As the NA book says, "alcohol is a drug.
Avatar f tn Apparently the naltrexone/naloxone disrupts the absorbtion of alcohol into the bloodstream and she could not ever feel the effects of the alcohol. I have also read of a treatment for alcoholics where they are prescibed daily doses of naltrexone for this reason. To prevent them feeling any "beneficial effects"of alcohol. I hope this helps to answer your question.

Avatar n tn Hi... I had a protected sex with a girl in Massage Parlour in NZ. Here in NZ, parlours offer safe sex. So we have protected varginal sex for about 5 min. There was no kissing at all with the girl. Then I left the place. After that I have been fearing to get some STD's like HIV, Chlamydia etc from that single encounter. Please help me regarding this. . . . I am quite worried these days . . .

Avatar f tn My granddaughter (10) has just been diagnosed with SVT. (No treatment as yet). She was due to fly to the UK from NZ for Xmas to stay with her Dad. Her Mum NZ resident now says she can't fly. Is SVT a bar to flying in children? Other than these two episodes she is well and no other known underlying medical conditions. She would be flying with me and I am a registered nurse.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to express my sympathy to our NZ friends after the second blast at Pike River Mine today, which ended any hope of finding the trapped 29 miners alive. My heart goes out to you guys.....
Avatar n tn Doctors here in NZ dish out tramadol like lollies 'instead' of opiates. Reading the posts here I am shocked to see it's just as nasty as coming off opiates...if not worse! I wonder when NZ will realise this...?
648439 tn?1225058862 I treated with 1200 Riba daily and 180 mg interferon weekly with Pegasus. I was cured with this short treatment. I live in NZ and the doctors here allow patients to stop if they fulfill the strictest criteria for stopping early. It worked for me, so good luck to those of you who are considering the same option.
